Well... there already is a multicoin client that already does this since a long time.

Well... there already is a multicoin client that already does this since a long time.
Since many coins use the same ECDSA curve, your private keys should work in any of these "currencies" - they might just hash into different addresses.
So how come nobody has invented a wallet to do this as of yet?
