I saw my 7950 hit 248M share once, like when I first plugged it in.

I hit the 4.59M in just a couple hours lol

ah, ic. I've seen it in the millions before, must take like you said 24 hours or more. This duration is only a few hours.

Odd, my best share at cgminer running duration is 490k and your guys showing in the million?

all depends on hashpower, time the miner has been running and luck.

the machine i'm at now.. 1.2 mhash.. 24 hours... 5.4m best share.

other days it might not get above 500k.. other days might see multiple million+ shares

Oh right, forgot to mention that cgminer does not calculate difficulty properly for scrypt. It gives absurd numbers, not that it influences mining.

the number isn't "absurd", it is just ~65k times larger than the official difficulty.

I'll try to say the same thing as above but with different wording:

The best share represents the highest difficulty share produced by you during the session cgminer has been running. If block difficulty is below the difficulty of that share then you have solved a block. Solo or pool mining makes no difference here.

So since difficulty is at 404, and I did 4.59M...??

Also, would it make a difference between pools? Like PPS vs PPLNS? Because I know PPLNS goes by how much you contributed to the block, right?

It means you solved a block whose difficulty is 4.59 million, not enough for now, but could have solved a block a few months back. It doesn't affect mining any way. My personal best was 1 million and something back in October last year, when cgminer had no concept of best share.

I'm assuming you mean solo mining? Or is it the same thing? I mine with litecoinpool
Solo, pool, doesn't matter. If it was solo, and the difficulty was low, you would be one lucky man right now.

Does it effect mining in any way? My best share is 4.59M, which is pretty damn high, I just don't get what it means...
