I think they can but not all at once, because the total amount of bitcoin that was hacked is around 120,000BTC then the entire bitcoin mixers doesnt have this amount at least to mix the half or less of total coins.
At least cryptomixer has more than 2,000BTC + others that mix the coins there so I think it's impossible to mix 120,000BTC with this small amount.

The mixer will help them to loose the trail but I think the mixer company must have the logs of their transaction. Using that log the bitfinex can trace the bitcoin stolen only if the mixer company releases that data to bitfinex.

But even after knowing the address where the stolen bitcoins are stored, it will be very very difficult to recover that bitcoins. The hackers are not babies, they know it well how to hide their fat asses.

Yes and it's safe to say this is exactly what he will do. Like the above poster said, more than likely he/she will mix the coins in small increments over time. Of course, if they're smart, they will wait a while before even attempting to clean the coins.

Um... Yes! Obviously if you mix 120k bitcoins all at once it would be fairly obvious where they went but if you did small random numbers ( say, 10.8BTC, with 0.628% fee an 19.473 BTC with a 0.5976% fee, then yeah, it would be fairly hard for people to actually find out who you are. There will always be people analyzing but you may get most of your coins out of the public's eye.

they surely can, however, i think bitfinex has notified exchanges, mixers, gambling sites, and other sites where you can easily deposit and withdraw coins, to make it harder for the hackers to "clean" their coins. but then again, there will always be ways for these people to sell their coins if they offer a significant discount.

People on here have a lot to learn especially the Bitfinex clients that lost all their bitcoins there. Cheesy

they should be able to use mixers to cut the connection between the stolen coins and the coins they get out from the mixer. but there are still ways like analyzing the blockchain to find the second coins and if the mixer is keeping logs, the authorities can officially ask the mixer to release the information to them so they can find the thieves. [they say we don't keep any logs by the way]
