We believe in God because God created us.

That cannot be what the muslim religion believes; that is circular nonsense.

The world is encapsulated with so many religion embedded with different doctrines, teaching and belief which have affected our sense of reasoning in different ways. Religion has raised serious concern to mankind especially in terms of sociopolitical and economic coexistence. The major cause of insecurity in most part of the world today is the problem of economic and religion supremacy where everyone seen to uphold their religion with virtue and in a high esteem and even considered it to be the only true region and the only way to salvation and internity thereby condemning or seeing other religion as fake. So therefore, considering the problem associated with religion differences in world today, I think the world would have be a better place without religion.
I do not agree with your opinion.  Because it is impossible to think about the world without religion.  i am muslim  I respect my religion.  We believe in God because God created us.  According to you saying world without religion is denying the creator.  Religion teaches us morality.  Moral education makes our life and world beautiful.  If there is no religion then people will not hesitate to do bad things.  As far as I know every religion mentions reward for good deeds and punishment for bad deeds.  So for me thinking of a beautiful world without religion is completely baseless.

Personally, while it would be in your best interest to believe, I don't want you to believe until the Father makes faith available to you in the way that it fits who you are.

It would be in your best interest to believe in climate change, since that is based on fact.  It is in no one's best interest to base life decisions off faith, which is belief despite lack of evidence.

The things you describe in your points are facts, they don't need faith, but none of them prove a man, unaware of females, created the human race.

Ignorant upon ignorant. Science didn't come out of nothing. The basis of science are rooted down to religion.

Someone noticed water flows downhill before they asked the gods to send more of it.

Ignorance is lack of knowledge.   Now you have learned something.  Smiley

All my life, I have been living in a society made up of different religions and beliefs. Trying to bring into reality a world without religion is what can't be done because religion has existed right from the onset, and people were okay with it, living happily with it. Thinking of a world without religion is unthinkable considering the way religion has impacted our lives and belief

The best history in the world came from religion and believers learn it... They have a lifestyle with a pattern that tries to emulate the life of people in the stories they were told. So, religion won't make the world a better place, the world will become better, if people decide not to copy other people's lifestyle.

Here is the big point. If we get rid of religion, we will have to get rid of what is called science. Why? Because much of it is just religion.

All of your big points are based on false information.   Science is the process of proving something.   Religion cannot be proven because it exists individually in each mind you cannot test it.

Instead of quoting useless scripture - why not try and explain your ignorance?   If you have evidence no one else has, please share it.

In 900 years we absolutely could be living on the moons of Jupiter.  Again, science.

Lol. Ignorant upon ignorant. Science didn't come out of nothing. The basis of science are rooted down to religion. I know the relationship between Science and Religion is a topic of continued debate in philosophy and theology so the assertions made by the early reply cannot be baseless or useless as you mentioned.

Religion has crafted a foundational element  in the development of scientific thoughts, historically. Many scientists of the earliest and ancient civilizations such as the Greeks and Egyptians derived their motivations from religious scriptures and wordings they met. Such scriptures brought about the intuition which led to many scientific discoveries.

A person can guess the future. A person might be right in his/her guesses. But there comes a time when he/she will make a mistake.

Religion has to do with looking at and believing in things, even when we are prone to guessing wrong about them.

world would be a better place without religion there is no way to know whether that can be true anymore. Religion is too engrained into our history and culture that we can no longer remove it.

Removing it would be complex and create a shift in so even if the many worlds. Many countries are led by churches and their religion, I can't possibly imagine a world that has no religion.

Even if we go back to history, a lot of what we have now wouldn't have happened without religion. Many countries back then invaded and colonized countries under the guise of spreading religion. If religion didn't exist, what would have happened back then and how could it affect the today of our world

I agree that often times different religions and beliefs can lead to conflict, especially when people think their religion is the only true one. It's true that the diverse doctrines and beliefs within various religions can lead to misunderstandings. However, it's also worth noting that many people find comfort, guidance, and community through their religious beliefs.

Instead of saying a world without religion is better, maybe we should focus on fostering mutual respect, open dialogue, and understanding between different faiths. I think this is a better way to promote peace and understanding without losing the positive aspects that religions bring to our lives.  Cheesy

Precisely the point. Like you are what you eat, you believe what you hear. So, try switching your 'hearing' for a few weeks and see if your beliefs change a little.

But then go back and see what is backed up by fact.

Cool

OK, let's pick one thing you are forced to believe in.   Then we'll examine the facts.

Of course, your brainwashing will not allow you to do this, and you are more than likely to ignore me yet again.

Who is forced to believe in anything? There are only two things that people might be forced to believe in... great pain if it happens to them, or great joy. All the rest of things they can condition themselves to believe or not believe.

The evidence for the Bible being the Word of God is great:
1. By far the greatest number of books sold;
2. Dead Sea Scrolls show that there is little change in it from before 250 BC;
3. Started around 1,500 BC;
4. Held and maintained as truth (the Old Testament) by some of the most stubborn people in the world, the people of Israel;
5. Not everything in it proven to be factual, but nothing proven not factual;
6. Strength in its words and phrases so that there are millions upon millions of believers;
7. Upheld as truth by Islam and the Hadiths;
8. Freedom within to believe or not believe.

Why freedom? Because that is what God is all about in this life. Everything will be sorted out at the time of the Judgment on the last day.

Personally, while it would be in your best interest to believe, I don't want you to believe until the Father makes faith available to you in the way that it fits who you are.

That's a nice religion you express there. It only increases difficulty. What difficulty? The difficulty in determining which religion is the right one... or at least the best one.

Cool
As far as I know, religions are humans' creations. Therefore, all of them are imperfect, although there are some which may approach more the truth than others. It's indeed a difficult task to determine which religion is the best one, or if there is a best one. I believe it's a continuous reflective process which only you can do for yourself in order to find the answer...

And who knows, maybe God operates through a decentralized system instead of a centralized one. A decentralized system where there are universal rules which apply to every existing human beings, despite them being from religion A or B. That is, what really matters is your conduct in daily life, and not if you swore loyalty to a determined religion.

On the other hand, religions are centralized systems, in an attempt to be a middleman between the individual and God.

With or without religion is same.

Although we currently see there are many naive and dumb people who always follow what the "holy people" do since they think he's always right, but this problem isn't caused by the religion, but they're the problem.

Because I see there are many stupid people are following what their role model e.g. Youtubers, influencers etc doing even though they're not selling their religion.
True. OP says religious people cause problems and conflicts in the world, however, it's also worth to mention there are people who hate religions causing problems in society. The dogmatic fanatics and heretic misbelievers are clashing among themselves constantly, but it seems all of them are problematic, just using the religions to escape from their personal frustrations and internal conflicts. As consequence, of course they will bring negative consequences for society, as the society becomes the cesspool where they deposit all their frustrations, infecting unwarned people around.

The problem are the extremes. Religion is benefical and necessary for many people, since it's practiced in a reasonable and sensible way which helps believers developing themselves as better individuals. The extremism inside religions (with the exception of psycho outbreaks) is usually related to the idolization of a human leader, instead of worship to God.

Can the world be a better place without religion?

Our world is run by humans and the world is getting worse because of human greed. So even if religion disappeared, the world would not become a better place. As long as humans continue to destroy nature, wage wars, and conduct a series of experiments that cause more destruction to the earth, our world will one day soon be destroyed. Don't try to blame anything when the world is getting worse while we are the ones who caused it.

Human behavior, the way humans treat others and the world based on greed, jealousy and selfishness is destroying this world.

^^^ Actually, true religion has one purpose... to save the souls of people for a new Heaven and a new Earth.

People don't realize the power that God is. This Earth and universe is going down like the Titanic did. Death of people who believe in Jesus-salvation is the way god is using to save them.

All the infiltration of religion by politically minded factions doesn't stop God from reaching people for salvation. God uses whatever happens in politics to reach people.

Help God to reach souls for Jesus. Do evangelism work. Your time in this life is short. You will be blessed in the hereafter for whatever work you do for God.

I apologize for stating you were going off false information without following up.  If you were not repeatedly told that two men can create children, would you believe it?   Consider all that you believe, and realize you wouldn't believe it if it wasn't repeated for you ad nauseum like an AI learning model.

Try staying away from the material a few weeks.   Go out with normal people, experience what nature can do.   I guarantee you that your mind will find a crack in the propaganda that will lead to your true salvation.   Like is short and it shouldn't be wasted following someone else's dream.

Now, take the sunglasses off and re-read.  I have a feeling they help you hide your ignorance.  Sad

In some places around the world where the religion were adopted such as in Africa, there have been alot of misconception and confusion about the true nature of those religions, and that is why some of the leaders have chosen religion as a tool to deceive and oppressed the poor and the needy, now religion is more of business and the leader have turn their members into money making scheme, and this have been the issue for a while now, and that also have affected the relate and level of development in those countries, religious war have been on the increased lately and that have affected the entire security structure of the nations, much more also the politicians have chosen religious house's as a tool to winning election lately also this have been noted as one of the major issues lately with religion and it role in the society today.

What you say is exactly what is happening in my country. Politicians are using religion to serve their political careers as well as their business. Because spirituality is something that people never have to pay dearly or cheaply for, even willing to sacrifice everything without a doubt. Not to mention, followers of this religion also speak ill of other religions, even causing discord among family members when family members do not share the same religion.
It can be said that nowadays, any religion has too many problems, everything is no longer going in the right direction as the original purpose for which it was born, everything becomes distorted.

Think about how life will be in 900 years.  We'll be living on the moons of Jupiter and have started construction of our Dyson swarm.  Energy will be free and poverty non existent.  Now consider how religion paused all technical advancement for almost a millennium in the dark ages.  :/

The world would have been much better without religion, and will be much better without religion.  Their outdated ideas are not made for such population numbers.  When you see hundreds of thousands of people all doing these rituals, people die.

Living on the moons of Jupiter. Lol.

The only reason why we went to the moon back in the late '60's was competition for Russia. For decades scientists and NASA have propagandized us with the idea of setting up moon bases and living there. But it hasn't happened in 70 years.

Some new Orion videos talk like NASA doesn't have the radiation problem conquered. Didn't they do that in the late '60's when they went to the moon and back? Is somebody finally telling the truth - that we didn't really go?

Besides, by the looks of things, we might have an Armageddon war that will wipe out everything, including enough of technology that we won't have any idea when we will reach out for space again.

Fun ideas, though. But there are a lot of science fiction books and movies out there. For example, Youtube search on 'The Quiet Earth'.

I get your points, Religion has done both good and bad, it has separated humans from fellow human, also leaded to favouring one and opposing the other but same religion has also limited ones unjustful behaviour in other to abide with the principles of their religion. I feel religion suits our existence, one good thing about religion is the way they spread and teaches about love both in and outside their religion but then there are also those who are into a religion by words but also don't practice accordingly and that is the sole reason why we get to see disputes and high level of oppositions, i believe all religion should be respected, if anyone wants to live his/her own religion to another then it should be based on personal convictions and not by force.
Not to mention that today religion is being politicized, many politicians take advantage of religion to attract followers to their side, taking advantage of people's trust...Overall, our world is becoming very chaotic and humans are the cause of it.

Religious philosophies have failed to transform humanity, instead, humanity has used religion as a weapon to destroy each other.
So sad we get to see something like this happening, the religion we know then isn't what we are experiencing today, religion has been mocked beginning from the leaders and I would completely blame all the followers because they also failed to get deeper understanding of what they believe in. Truth be told, Religion has turned into doctrines according to how the leader wants it meanwhile the rules to every religion isn't something that could be amended but now it all ends on politics, debates and criticism.

I am also a religious person and as I said, I do not deny the role of religion in educating people to become better people. Also, I spend time learning about the history of some religions, reading their bibles...and most of the content is geared towards helping people become better. But religion is run by humans and human nature is jealous, selfish, envious, greedy...so it will be very difficult to prevent evil things from happening.

I do not believe that a world without religion would be a better place to live. I believe that there would be a lot more crimes committed in this world. Don't you think that some people would have killed each other if it weren't for religion? Even with religion, some people still wish they could kill those who have offended them, I'm wondering what some people think of the world without religion, I don't think it would look much better, people would fornicate anywhere they wanted, and everyone would steal each other's belongings because there is no religion to teach what is right.

However, I believe that a world without religion is similar to a world without any details to teach us the right things in the world, we surely will have a parent who will teach us how to behave around our elders and how to be successful in our work without stealing or killing someone, but how do you think our parents will learn the right things to teach us if there is no religion? The world would look terrible without religion mate.

I agree with you that most religions aim to educate and nurture people to be more honest and good. But do you realize that there is still conflict between religions? Every religion wants to have many followers and grow stronger, every religion wants people who follow other religions to abandon their faith to follow their religion. There have even been many wars in the world just because of disagreements between religions or just because they wanted their religion to become the strongest, they even tried to destroy other religions...This shows that as long as religion is jealous, selfish, and greedy, evils and crimes will still exist.

So whether the world would be better without religion is still a question mark. In my opinion, there is no answer to this question.

I agree with you that economics and religious dominance are the main causes of insecurity in most parts of the world today.  But at the same time, I will also say that no matter what religion he is, if he observes the customs of his own religion properly, then he cannot show such an aggressive attitude towards other religions.
It's all about respect. When someone is proclaiming that he is in the right religion, he shouldn't say bad things about the others. Although criticisms are there, it's better to keep that principle to himself if he has seen the signs that doesn't go with his standards or his principles then he has to move forward and find a better one. What you've said is right and I agree about not being aggressive towards other religions. You keep those things that you are accustomed to with your religion and if that's helping you becoming a better person, that's a good religion you've got there.

Because I don't think that any religious book contains anything harmful to others.
This is where the debate starts although it's true that most of the religions want to help people to become a better person and get closer to God. The term "harm" has a broad meaning if it's about the belief of each religion.

Religion is important in every aspect of life. Whichever religion you belong to study your scriptures in detail and you will get solution for every subject also if you ask religious guru you will get solution. There is no place for hatred in religion and every religion preaches mutual harmony and bridging the gap between rich and poor and helps the society economically. It also talks about the imposition of a right of the poor class on the wealth of the rich, which if the basis of justice is applied in the society as well as in the country, the number of poverty class in the country will decrease.

What about the first two people, with whom we all have common ancestry?

(I mean, were there multiple simultaneous evolutions of man and woman, and several times, so that all the races have different original ancestors? How would that even be possible since one evolution of one man and a woman at the same time is difficult enough to make work.)

So, what religion did the original two people have? I mean, when we look at the ancient buildings of the nations from around the world - going back for multiple thousands of years - it's evident that they all held religion in high honor. So, what was the religion of the first family?

Everybody has his own religion. Even the first two people had different religions. Why? Because no two people can think the same way to hold the same religion in their hearts and minds.

The point? Each person has his own religion. There are exactly as many religions in the world as there are people. The uniting of people in a formal religion is really a political unification. And the people can't really unite in depth, but they can only express that they are united in certain major points.

There is ONE religion that is universal in this world. Everybody has it in varying degrees. It's the religion of lies. Everybody is a liar. Every church that suggests that its people are the people of their religion is a church of lies.

There is one exception to this. It's the Church that lets Jesus run it... working through the Holy Spirit to make sure that all the people are united in spirit/Spirit. This church has people in all the Christian denominations in the world, and outside of them, too. But not all the people who say that the Holy Spirit is really working in them... not all these people really have the Holy Spirit.

I don’t think the world would have been a better place today without religion, long before the existence of any religion, there’s are always wars and disunity amongs people and the causes of it cannot be attached to religion because at of those days, they were fewer religions being practiced or none at all. The only thing that can bring peace and harmony to a particular region is humanity amongst ourselves, any other thing comes secondary to it and if humanity is been disrupted, every other thing will have severe impact on the people living in the region.

All religion and culture preaches peace and harmony but why isn’t any of those teachings making them not to stop or avoid all those religious wars, it is because they’re inhuman and a person with humanity and irrespective of their religion will not harm another person even when given the chance to do so. Let love lead, let humanity be embedded in us and the world will live for centuries more as a better place to live in. Religion and culture are being used by the perpetrators, sponsors of war in other to cover their own crimes and find a way to justify where the war is headed where it’s practically being headed by them.

So therefore, considering the problem associated with religion differences in world today, I think the world would have be a better place without religion.

How can people live without religion, like you can never live outside of family. Although people were not anti-religion in the past many Arabs and pagan Christian nations were mainly involved in the most evil practices.  Where female children were killed and buried fresh. All these immoral and bad actions were most common in the period of Jahiliyyah.

Paganism is/was just another Religion, a belief system. By sacrificing plants,
animals and in some cases other human beings the belief and hopes were that the
gods would bring a favourable year of growing and harvest and would guarantee
survival for another year.

"modern" religions like Christianity have taken the concept one step further, they
GUARANTEE life after death! whats not to like about that? of course there is no proof
(besides what the Bible teaches) but people blindly believe in a "one God" and a
life after death.

The thing is the belief is that there isnt just one God, there are several, with different
names.....made up by humans!

So therefore, considering the problem associated with religion differences in world today, I think the world would have be a better place without religion.

Without religion, people could never live in the right position, so people are able to live their lives rightly because of the presence of religion.  Religion is the only place of peace there is no other place where there is peace and therefore without religion it is never possible to live.

I 100% disagree with you, It is very easy to live without Religion, I do it every day!
I lead a very simple peaceful life, I respect others who reciprocate and I havent killed anyone.

You should try breaking free of the chains which organised religion have placed on
you. Dont be afraid of not reaching a fantasy realm, we all return to nature just as the

the society has witnessed a whole lot of improvement in different aspect of life most expecially as regards living a more modest life than when religion was a thing in the society. Thier are several practices apart from the killing of twin that was predominant in the past most expecially in the typical African setting that the introduction of religion into the region has helped to solve. But then, total obidient to certain religious believes to it entirety has also brought with it the notion that you must abide by the believe to it entirety and if by the believe of your religion you're to kill your child to prove that you have given total submission to what you worship, a lot of people will happily do it and we can see an example in almost all the religion. For the Christian we know of the story of Abraham and Isaac on the test fir Abraham to sacrifice Issac as a burnt offering and how he obeyed explicitly, the Moslem also carry out same practice of total obedience and the traditional worshipers even do worse. What makes religious beautiful is that it's a bit moderate and civilized with her conduct which makes it understandable on why they go extreme at the instances like those I outlined.

Without religion, people could never live in the right position, so people are able to live their lives rightly because of the presence of religion.  Religion is the only place of peace there is no other place where there is peace and therefore without religion it is never possible to live.
as much we understand that the kind of peace we experience in a religious setting far surpasses what you experience at other social gatherings, there are those that will argue that in other social gatherings, they experience the highest level of piece.for me, it's the assurance that after one exits this world, thier is hope for him in the life after that makes being part of a religious movement worth it. Though it could be too strict on certain religious believes, religious teaching is what has gone to shape the society from the negative societal vices that's now a problem globally.

Religious discipline has been evident since the beginning of the world, but it divides people into different tribes. Religious system encourages people as a background for building a just and harmonious life and a harmonious religious discipline. However, religion and politics are regulated by different laws and practices in different countries. As it can be said that in some countries the influence of religion on politics is severe, for example, in countries like France, religious discipline is strictly suppressed in politics, and in Canada, politicians are free to express their religious thoughts and identity. So I think that religion and politics are two social phenomena, just as religion shapes the value system of people and determines moral rules and regulations, politics shapes the rights and systems of individuals. So I think not religion but some political abuse is creating unrest in the world.
Your point of view is very correct and reasonable that to date no religious teaching appears to be harmful to anyone and politics is not a bad thing politics is also a very important thing due to which people can live in an orderly manner in the world and manage all their activities properly. But because of some privileged groups or people many have a negative perception of politics. So I think if religious discipline is practiced in politics then the world will become really beautiful.

The one main point of religion is to focus on God... at least on His existence. The reason why God split the languages at Tower of Babel times was to break down the strength that mankind had to subvert God into mans' corrupt ways.

Mankind still have this strength ability. However, God has placed safeguards into the world to protect mankind and Himself from mans' corruption. When the safeguards are close to being breached by man - and Satan and his crew - Jesus will return and straighten things out permanently.

Note the thing that Jesus said that shows that we might be getting very close to the return-time of Jesus. Matthew 24:36-41:
36“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, f but only the Father. 37As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.

Go to the Bible and look at the area around the above quote. Stuff is happening like it did in the days of Noah. The question is, how bad will God let things get before He sends His Son, Jesus, back?

I don't think the world can be a better place without religion op, because religion has brought so many good things to the societies that made many people whom they are today in the society, and they will do everything possible to make religion to live forever.

If you are talking about religion, people are the ones that form religion which will be very difficult to convince them that they can live or do without religion because if they don't carry out their religion things a day or week, they will not be comfortable with their duty or daily activities, because they know that is the source of their power and income. Even though it will going to be a better place without religion, the world leaders will never allow such thing to happen because they know that it will going to create so many crisis in the leaders position because there are some countries of the world who elected their leaders base on religion, and if you don't belong to the ruling religion, there is no way they can vote for you to achieve the position.
It can be a good place without religion but it is definitely a good place with infrastructure but I am sure that it will not get the peace of mind of people. No religion says do not develop but religion says to develop all in a peaceful way. Therefore if religion is placed in everyone's heart and development work is done, then I think it is possible to develop peacefully in every country of the world.

My religion has given me a sense of identity; when the world leaves, only He stays. If religious conflicts have arisen in the past or present, it was anchored by man, not the religion. I don't think any religion promotes fighting and killing inhumanely, but those who practice these religions are the ones who cause chaos. Even if we all practiced one religion, some people within that religion would still be rebellious - that's how many religions came about, because one person rebelled.

What we should be concerned about is changing our mindset towards other human beings for the better; we should be concerned about being our brother's keeper as a person. Just choose to be a good human who does no harm to others. My point is, religion can help shape one's mindset for the better, give one peace, and a sense of identity.

I don't think so, considering that everything that happens is already there, how this life goes, it's all there. And even if religion is said to be a source of problems for life now, the proof is that the inventors and scholars of ancient times, most of them were religious people, they came from different religions. No one insulted each other.

By the way, are you sure that all those who are talking are religious people? or is it just for their own personal interest?

For now, or we could say, in the near future it seems not. However, perhaps in the future, when human resources are very advanced, it seems that religion will not be such a priority. In fact, it is possible that religion will be considered ancient concepts. although in fact currently in some countries religion is only trending as ceremonial. yes, it works only in weddings. However, in reality, religious values are very noble, with love as its foundation. Unfortunately, from time to time religion has not been separated from political vehicles for the interests of a few people or groups who have an interest in it. Sadly, religion has become a patent in which there is a ticket to heaven if you follow its teachings and rules. In fact, there is nothing wrong with that, let alone encouraging someone to have good character. However, the understanding of religion is often distorted, and it is not uncommon for individuals to interpret it according to their wishes without considering various points of view.

IMO, the world would be destroyed without religion. The problem is, not all people have good understanding and good manners. in fact, religion is often commodified. It is truly unfortunate to see teachings that teach love, but are understood with a greedy soul. greedy for rewards, heaven, and so on. For me personally, religion is only a basis for us to act according to applicable rules.  Believing in one thing is the right of every human being, it's just that the concept of humanity must be upheld. Yes, so that we don't destroy nature, harm people, or go against human values. The point is, for now religion is still very necessary. At the very least, it will act as a balance in an era that is currently full of turmoil. another important one for me, based on my understanding. Religion teaches to have good relations first between humans and other humans. then, we can connect with the Supreme Being through prayer.

I Do not know if you know a lion religion. That is when there is a lack of prey in the forest i.e. when there is no food it tries to eat the children of its tribe. What I mean by this story is that conflict in the world will happen without religion. So there is no scope to blame religion alone. However if we observe the history, it will be seen that the main reason behind the conflicts centered on religion is power and money. And the present world is no exception.

We are in an advanced era now and the situation whereby people are condemning other religions seem to have reduced compared to back in the days, technology and civilization is gradually taking over and people don’t have much time conflicting about their religious beliefs anymore so i don’t think religion is the cause of the problems in the world today. Religion has helped to shape the world more better and has given purpose to people, without religion I don’t think the world would have been a better place.

In my opinion, Religion is not the problem; beliefs are the problem for following their prophecies blindly instead of focusing on the only teachings of the holy book.

Religion teachings are always simple to follow, but some of us take them personally, which is why they cause problems for ourselves.
You have a point, some people do take this religion too seriously and so they are blind to acknowledge other people’s beliefs, believing in something doesn’t make other people’s beliefs wrong. You have yours and they have theirs and no one will agree to the fact their beliefs are wrong. People need to learn to respect others beliefs and focus on their own religion.

Even though Religion has also been one of the reasons why humans disagree among themselves since different religions have different doctrines and beliefs and it is very difficult to convince others who are not part of the religion you believe to also do same things you do as your own doctrines portrays but yet majority of the religion practices about peace and how to live in unity with one another despite the religion they believe in so if religion wasn't there the cruelty of mankind would have been too extreme with one another so that is one of the area I feel religion should still exist. Just like everyone speaks diverse languages that is how we also have a lot of religion and that is what have kept most people of same religion to believe and do things in accordance with the teachings of their respective religion so it creates an enabling ground for individuals of same beliefs to speak in one voice and do things in common with each other.

IMO, there are both negative/positive things in religion, good in any religion that guides people to freedom, but also a lot of scandals that people themselves abuse religion to profiteering for personal, group, regional, national games,....

I have been thinking that if we all agreed to accept a truth in life that is the sameness of religion, or no religion - just as a concept that people themselves describe. A happy world of being loved and helped without calculation is paradise. However, the layers of consciousness intertwine in life for each individual to perfect themselves, so the interaction of everything matters has its own values.

The impact of religion on the world is tough to judge. While religion has played a significant role in shaping societies, providing moral guidance & and really developing a sense of community it has also been a source of conflict & division. Whether the world would be better without religion is subjective & depends on individual perspectives. Removing religion entirely may eliminate certain conflicts but could also remove the positive aspects it brings like comfort, meaning & a sense of purpose for many people. Balancing the benefits & drawbacks of religion is crucial in considering this question.

Let's say that the world has no more religion and every person who's living has their personal belief and intelligence. I think that there will be another problem that shall rise towards the absence of religion. And let's just accept our differences whether it's in religion, in race, in attitude and ethics. This is the beauty of the world, we've got differences and respect is what will make us meet in the middle and accept all of these matters that we don't agree with but deep inside, we've got all in common and we're all here to survive and live our lives together regardless of our beliefs.

Why should you put the blame on religion when it is human that does all the atrocities from their wicked heart. Religious has nothing to do with a country's political welfare because I believe that all religions will not advice any of their congregation to steal, kill and take bribe because it is against the word of God.

God created us to be united as one to line in love peace and harmony but the greedy nature of man will not allow us to seek for the kingdom of God first but rather we are after money. A lot of people might have committed suicide if not for the help of their religious belief due to the hardship in the country. A man that has the fear of God will do things right irrespective of his religion.

According to Karl Marx, religion is the opium of the masses, it gives people a sense of believe and belonging so if you remove it from the society, people might not see any moral rights to define their characters. Most religions teaches about peace and I believe that if it's not for this reason there will be more chaos in the world because there might be no conscience or guilt to refrain people from doing evil. So my point is that religion to a large extent helps to subdue the evil in human beings, atleast the two most popular religions upholds peace and love.

A lot of evil and criminalities are happening in the world today even with many religions that admonishes peace and love, so how do you imagine that the world will be without them. I think that lawlessness and wickedness will be greater than good because humans by nature wants to conquer and rule their fellow humans, religion puts these characters in check by teaching humility.

So therefore, considering the problem associated with religion differences in world today, I think the world would have be a better place without religion.

No the world wouldn't have been better without religion because it's religious that is making the world to be better. When there was no religious to teach people that stealing was bad, everybody will be stealing and doing other evil things. Religion hasn't succeeded in making everybody to become a good person but it has helped some people and they are affecting other people.
Without religion, the world could have been worst than it is because everybody will have their own believes and make their own laws to follow. Some people believe in evil religion and others think their own religion is better but things might reduced when we get to understand that everybody can have their own religion but yet we all live together peacefully.

The world wouldn't have been a better place without religion because most of them have a good doctrine that promotes peaceful coexistence, equity, and selflessness. The problem we are having is religious fanaticism and religious intolerance. Some people think that their religion is superior to others

Politically religion is affecting the quality of leadership. Most citizens vote for incompetent candidates because they belong to the same religious creed when they have more competent candidates.

Religion is very important so I wouldn't say is bad because it has prevented a lot of bad things from happening because just like you said there are some religion that promote peace among people and it will be very difficult to see someone who abide by the religion to venture into things that would go contrary to there believe and there are also doctrine that spoke about helping the less privileges but is very unfortunate that people are abusing it all in the name of claiming that a certain religion is the best and from there discrimination started that if you don't belong to a certain religion it will very difficult for other religion to help you, and like you said the government is even the worst because if you don't belongs to there circle it becomes difficult to succeed, so actually religion is not the problem but instead people are the ones making it look that way.

The world would be a better place if people acted like devouts of the religions they claimed to be and allowed others to peacefully worship their own religion.
Take a step further and keep your religion out of policy, and remove their tax exempt statuses.

Be religious but also just mind ya business.

I dont think the world would be a better place without religion.
Actually, while it is true there are many conflicts which have something to do with the system of beliefs of different groups of people, most religions are based in a collection of rules or moral codes which encourage values like selfishness, kindness, justice, among other values.
As others have already say, if there was no religion, we would still have racism, classism, xenophobia, homophobia and other geopolitical issues countries which could turn countries against one another easily.
One could even take as example the ten commandments, given by God to the people of Israel. The commandment on murder is a good example on how religion is supposed to be a starting point for us to become a better society, instead a more divided one. Though, there will always be people who twist the meaning of the sacred words for them to convince others to do their bidding.

The world would never be a better place without religion. Region has been one thing that have brought people together in unity and make us love one another. If there was no religious in the world, I don't think people would be able to share the love that is always preached to others to bring them together in unity.

Religion has been the backbone for our peaceful living which makes a person to see that other person as their brother and love. Although it has been seen that religious competition and hatred for other people of different religions is the problem we are facing in the world that would make a person to see another person that is not from their religion has their enemy. This is not meant to be and love need to be shared around into people of different doctrines.

Don't really like to answer such rhetorical or ''what if'' questions. Too many factors and unknowns to know answer. I can't say that world without religion would be better place, but I tend to think that at least it wouldn't be worse place to live

Do you want to know the excesses religion has helped to control in the society? Looking at a society without religion is almost the same as assuming we can cope without the government. Apart from certain religious views that looks at killing as obedience to what they believe in, religious people generally have a good moral view about humanity which has helped to reduce crime in the society.

I'm wondering what reasons makes you to think that religion is needed as much as governments. We're living in XXI century with very advanced science and religion already don't play big role in peoples life like it used to do few centuries back.

We would have to define your word "religion" as it's a complex and a wide subject and it's covering a lot of harmless religions, personal beliefs and organized churches to cults.
Need for religion is pretty much build into us and being used as a tool to control by some entities.

So i guess getting rid of religion would require replacing that in some way, because for some people religion doesn't differ from any other form of believing, as they don't have capacity or can't question authorities.

And are you offering scientific method and listening to auctorities of different fields as an alternative way? Because we can't really enforce that in personal level. We can and have been enforcing it for secular governments, but populists have also been using pseudo science to convince people against the experts opinion. But as an answer to your question, religion shouldn't be a big part of governmental decision making, because coming back to democracy from that can be difficult if not impossible.

The world can be a better place only when we realized our individual contributions towards achieving a peaceful and coordinate society to all live in, this is not about religion, its about the way we all happens to see life and what it mean to us, now that we have religion, are people not still behaving the way they like, we also have leaders governing over the affairs of human beings, are people not still found behaving the way they like, cheating on each other, a religion is expected to be a means whereby people can understand the needs on why they have to live a good life worthy of emulation, but many have taken it so common that they don't even regards it as much as it is being expected.

Since this is a hypothetical question, the answers will be speculative and contain a lot of "ifs"...
- This world will most likely have one or more religions, so it's improbable that we would have none. People need religion for their mental health and to explain things they don't understand.
- If there's only one religion, I believe people will still kill and go to war with each other for various reasons. It's just in our nature.
- If there's no religion, I believe people will still kill and go to war with each other for various reasons. It's just in our nature.

So, no, religion isn't the only cause of bad things, and the world wouldn't necessarily be a better place without religion. There are many other reasons people do stupid things, for example, skin color or even your dick size.

People just lack morals and blame their religion because each religion has their own way of doing things. Despite the fact religion rules have impacted some negative thought on people mindset doesn’t necessarily mean religion is the problem. Humans just have a unique way of thinking and doing things because no religion will state negative words but humans can easily develop negative thoughts without thinking twice. From my opinion different religions are meant to live peacefully with zero hate and war, I believe the concept of religion should not be channeled to hate.
Religion has brought about negative impact on the society, it has divided so many countries into groups, where one feast on the other just because the other person believes on something outside what he/she believes. People now no longer live by integrity or good deeds but whatever their religion tells them to do, be it to kill or any of their believes.

I'd say yes, because religions are the root of superstition, fear, hate towards others... but there's also the other side of the coin.
Some people need reassurance because they're weak-minded and lonely. They need to know someone cares for them and watches over them. That's where religion comes in, as guidance where there's none.
Imagine you have no parents or they're addicts who don't care about you and don't teach you anything. I'd rather see that person turn to God as safe haven, than be lost and eventually give up.

I do not think the would would have been a better place without religion. Religion has given rise to some social communities that encourages people from all walks of life to live in harmony, uniting people from all races and giving people a reason to live. The few good people we have in the world are been influenced by religion to do good. Religion is all about showing love for humanity, no religion encourages one to hate the other simply because they do not have same beliefs. Anyone who hates the other for having a different belief or ideology is only demonstrating his/her own inbuilt human nature of conquering his/her environment and acting superior to the others.

Religion teaches love, peace and unity yet people practice otherwise, will a world without religion be better?

... I think the world would have be a better place without religion.

I come from a country with many different religions and everyone has their own beliefs. And one thing I feel is that most religions have the purpose of doing good deeds, advising people to help each other, teaching people to become good people, useful to society...In addition, there are also many people who do not follow any religion and I see that they are not much better. So how can you say that religion is destabilizing many parts of the world?

Today's conflicts stem from the greed for power of politicians, the bloodlust of many eccentrics who always want to control the entire world. To be more precise, human greed is creating instability in our world, not any other cause.

bestcandy you should check out the book "Big Gods" by Ara Norenzayan. It's all about how beliefs in all-knowing gods have helped people work together throughout history, even when they weren’t directly connected. While religion can bring people together, it can also split them apart. Norenzayan’s book gets into both sides – how it can lead to cooperation or conflict. This duality is super relevant when thinking about how we can build a better world.
That why I shared the Lumitarian Manifest in this Forum https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/--5500768. It's sort of like a modern take on how we can get along on a big scale without the usual religious divides. Think of it as a rational approach to what religions often aim to do – bring people together around shared values but without the downsides like conflict.

Both "Big Gods" and the Lumitarian Manifest could give you some relevant insights into making cooperation work better in our connected world.

A world without religion would be a different world. Social and cultural norms, moral values, and historical events would all develop differently. There might be fewer conflicts based on religious beliefs, but a significant part of our cultural heritage and sense of identity would be lost. It would be fascinating to imagine what such a world would be like. Roll Eyes

The world wouldn't have been a better place without religion because most of them have a good doctrine that promotes peaceful coexistence, equity, and selflessness. The problem we are having is religious fanaticism and religious intolerance. Some people think that their religion is superior to others and have gone to the extent of forcing people to convert to theirs. People have been intimidated, beaten, and in some cases killed because they refused to convert to a religion. It is these fanatics that have caused conflicts and religious wars. With this superior mentality, some religious faithful wouldn't want it live peacefully with others. They think they should have the best while others should be treated like slaves.

Politically religion is affecting the quality of leadership. Most citizens vote for incompetent candidates because they belong to the same religious creed when they have more competent candidates. Religious fanaticism has also led to favoritism and partiality in the appointment of political officeholders and even the allocation of resources. Let me conclude by saying that from my observation, most religion has good intentions, but the problem is that followers misinterpret and wrongly apply most religious teachings.

Thinking about a world without religion is interesting, but it’s like trying to imagine people without emotions... it’s pretty much impossible. Religion is a big part of what makes us human. It's about feelings and faith, kind of like being in love.

The main issue isn't religion itself but how people use it. Often, the problems start when people twist religious teachings to fit their own goals, which can lead to actions that totally go against what the religion is actually about. For instance, most religions preach peace, but sometimes, people do violent things in the name of religion.
So, the real challenge isn't to get rid of religion but to understand it better and respect different beliefs. We need more education and open conversations to prevent the extrem stuff that happens when people take religion too far.

In short, religion itself isn’t the bad guy here. It’s about how people interpret and act on it. We should focus on the good parts of faith—like community and moral guidance—and deal with the misunderstandings and misuse that lead to trouble.

Even if the world would be a better place without religion there is no way to know whether that can be true anymore. Religion is too engrained into our history and culture that we can no longer remove it.

Removing it would be complex and create a shift in so many worlds. Many countries are led by churches and their religion, I can't possibly imagine a world that has no religion.

Even if we go back to history, a lot of what we have now wouldn't have happened without religion. Many countries back then invaded and colonized countries under the guise of spreading religion. If religion didn't exist, what would have happened back then and how could it affect the today of our world?
