You should feel difference between Gavin Andersen faucet and current faucets. This very first faucet was made to introduce Bitcoin to people. And that 5 BTC was worthless basically and you was able to mine such amount easy with your own PC.
Current faucets is attempt to make some kind of business - get revenue from advertisements. But best times of faucets already passed few years ago. Now it's more or less dead and I doubt that it will become great again one day.

FreeBitco will give you free Bitcoin if You maintain a balance of 30,000 Satoshis (0.0003 BTC) in your wallet. A friend says that the credit to an individual account is daily. But It is good to do detailed research before investing because there's no free lunch even in free town this day.

Also, the Bitcoin address –15VjRaDX9zpbA8LVnbrCAFzrVzN7ixHNsC supplied by the OP – Gavin Andresen in that thread doesn't seem to be recognized by Blockchain for whatever inexplicable reason when I checked just now. I don't know if it's a fault from my side. It's the same for another wallet from another user on that thread that I checked. This 1Dn51Rn2tmvARcsYkPe7Aw1sCAXw5oKnR

Do we still have legit websites like this today that gives out free bitcoins?
That will be very rare to find. It's like looking for a needle in a haystack. The few that still exist only give dust now. The reason I stopped participating in faucets a few years ago was because of the tricks most of these faucets employed, frustrating and preventing participants from withdrawing once they manage to get to the unrealistic withdrawal threshold set by the sites. It's tantamount to slaving for nothing.

No. We can't see it again this year or in the following years. Bitcoin has now increased very high, many times since it was launched and we can only follow the current price.

Satoshi has succeeded in developing the Bitcoin project so that many people know it from various countries. This is a phenomenal discovery and we should be grateful to Satoshi Nakamoto. He has made a difference to many people.

And Gavin has done what he can to help Satoshi Nakamoto make Bitcoin famous so that more people join and use Bitcoin to date. I only know Freebitco., which still provides free Bitcoin you can get once an hour. And it is also useful for people who want to know Bitcoin because they can still get the free satoshi. But they have to spend more time earning lots of satoshis.

what you are talking about are faucets, they usually offer free bitcoins.  as far as I know, there are still some faucets that are still working, but given the expensive value of bitcoin, the amount of bitcoin you get from faucets today is too little.  Joining and getting bitcoins from the faucet is considered a waste of time if you are expecting miracles from them.  instead of looking for free bitcoins, you should spend your time going to work, gaining knowledge, and looking for a job. that way, when you have money, you will get bitcoin faster by investing.

Can we ever have these again in 2023?

Going to back to the first days of bitcoin it was easy and cheap to get 5 bitcoins for free by just solving a simple task.
This bitcoin core developer, chief scientist on the forum, Gavin Andresen in June 11, 2010, created this web site https://freebitcoins.appspot.com/  that gives away Bitcoins. There were about ฿1,100  He wanted bitcoin to succeed. He wanted to see more people adopt bitcoin. How proud he would be right now knowing that bitcoin is succeeding and progressing. 5 bitcoins today at the price of $26797 per bitcoin is worth - $133,985

The website doesn't work anymore. The it will forever be remembered.

Wow! 5 bitcoin for a simple task! I missed my chance to become rich.

I don't think we have any website available from where you can get free bitcoins anymore. The faucet websites used to give couple of Satoshis but they all have died down.

The only way to make significant amount of bitcoin is through trading or mining. The signature campaigns also gives out some bitcoins to the participants. Nothing is free anymore.

Don't expect to see any website that gives free bitcoin like the giveaways of the stage when the price was low because the price of bitcoin is now very high. Currently, you have to mine, buy or earn your bitcoin. I have not seen anywhere where they are giving people free gold even in Gold Coast (Ghana) where gold is mined in large quantities. So don't expect to get bitcoin cheaply like in those good old days. Getting free BTC faucets is time time-consuming and the price is not encouraging. Don't also be in haste to join any platform or website where they have promised to give out free bitcoin. Most scammers use this mouthwatering offer to swindle unexpected investors. Many people have been scammed or their accounts hacked because they trusted these scam sites that offer free Bitcoin.

I have read the thread by Gavin Andresen and I have always wished I was part of the people that benefited from his liberality. These are bitcoin legends that sacrificed and invested so much to make the bitcoin project a success. But I doubt  if I would be able hodl my coins to date because I might have sold them just like many impatient people did.

Yes but not as what you think with the one that Gavin made and did. There are still a lot of faucets these days but I don't think it's worth of your time to gather all of it and check them out hourly or daily. There are referrals for which you'll earn from the other people claiming on these faucets using your referral link and that's affiliate marketing. That's one strategy that you can do for making quite good amount in there but without such and just plainly doing it, it's an absolute waste of time unless you're having fun.

Unfortunately no, we will not go back in that situation because we see how big the increase of price compare before and most provably the person who do that will not give any huge reward for the simple task they ask to their users.

Its really great to see that part of the history since if many people just know that we could go this far, for sure many people before will continue to farm bitcoin by those sites then hold it for long term and maybe became millionaire's when bitcoin reached on its past ATH or even by this current price.

There could still be some, but it's not worth your time anymore as the pay is just a few satoshi and I think you will need to reach certain amount before you can withdraw them.

So it might be tiring on your end that most of the time you will have to give up.

And that is the early years of bitcoin though, as we don't know what is going to happen so early bitcoin adopters are really lucky.

Nowadays it is not possible to get free bitcoins. He helped grow bitcoin to a level that any project aspires to, if anyone offers you free bitcoins now, they are scammers. They will ask you to transfer some bitcoins to their wallet to get more in return

of course we won't. BTC is too big and expensive right now, no one will give you it for free. And if someone tells you that he wants to give you free Bitcoin 99% that person is trying to scam you.

Yeah freebitco still gives free Bitcoin till today and it's more like a faucet but you need to claim every hour, the amount giving out today is extremely low and it will take a long time before you reach your withdrawal limit, thinks have changed and time have passed, Bitcoin is now the big daddy of amazing value, no one dares give it up easily.

But OP, why do you feel the need to recreate this topic again? It makes no sense if someone has already done it before, this is not those news that need to be share few times on the forum to warn people about some hacks that's ongoing so as to reach many people in a short time.

It makes no sense to create this again.

You are talking about old crypto faucets which paid a lot of Bitcoins for just solving captcha. Then the price of Bitcoin was very very low and people was newly knowing about it. So faucets paid a good amount for every claim which is much worthy in current price.
So now it's impossible to earn any big amount from faucets. Even I think it's just waste of time now a days. Anyway there are also running some crypto faucets but thay are paying just a few Satoshi's . One of the most popular faucet is https://freebitco.in/
You can play gambling also in it.
Anyway now I will not suggest anyone to work in faucets and waste your time. There is a lot of alternative works which may generate you more funds than any faucets.

No, we can not ever see these opportunities again, not even in 2023 and not even in any future timeframe, Because, it was a one-and-only opportunity from which many have benefited a lot and many just get their hands off from BTC, and there come legends like Gavin Andresen and Laszlo (pizza guy) who have sacrificed big amounts of BTC just to streamline its adoption. I hope they will not regret there decisions.

Do we still have legit websites like this today that gives out free bitcoins?
Yes, we do have many websites giving bitcoins but not free, we have to perform some tasks and believe me, once you start to perform some survey tasks on Free BTC Faucets, you will disappear in the streets of tasks, and will never complete more than 2 survey tasks, but all you can do is claim free BTC after every 30 minutes or 1 hour (depends on the project schemes) and after 24 hours. But you are not going to be rich even if it would be hard to make a living on these websites.

The one that I know is still existing is Freebitco.io, but it is more than a faucet, it is more of a gambling site. The bitcoin reward is very small. When I checked it in 2021, it was 0.00000007 BTC per hour, which is absolutely a waste of time.

Others that I have seen before are like freebitco. Faucets are waste of time now.
