maybe this already exists and so enjoy, but I doubt that this is used on ordinary people...most likely it can be used somewhere for military purposes

I hope Orwell's 1984 would remain just a fiction and we will use such technologies only for a good cause  Wink

Seems a little SciFi but who knows. In this days nothing can be too much or really unexpected. if a tech like that would be world wide used is very possible that the thought police would appear, or an agency that which will have employees trained for this tip of things

There are lots of different governments around the world, run countries of varying sizes, and technology has allowed politicians to monitor their subjects easier than ever before. You could say the "Great Firewall of China" is a form of thought policing, but at the same time it may have a legitimate use for keeping the population in order. Or the Patriot Act in the USA which basically allows government spooks to monitor anybody for a lifetime.

We already have thought police in the western world, even though it doesn't like to be called like this. You can get legal troubles for expressing your views now, if they are the "really wrong ones".

What? I thought it's western world where it's alright to express whatever you want. Which coutries are you talking about

Man, you overthinking  Grin
Of course, it's possible but not in the near future. Plus, the positive effect is bigger anyway. You won't throw away your PC and smartphone just because someone can spy on you, I guess? With such logic, we should destroy our civilization and return to ground zero.
But to be serious, there will always be someone who will secure us. For example, we have VPN and Tor to protect our privacy on the internet. So the same will apply to neuro devices. Someone will come up with something
We all know that if we don't want to be spied on, we should use the old phones without internet access but we are all using smartphones, we are being spied upon by even the apps we use but that doesn't deter us from using it whatsoever. The government will continually spy on us no matter what we do.

Yes, haven't any of you seen minority report?   Tongue
In the future, we will most likely communicate remotely, mind to mind, by u sing some sort of Electroencephalography connected to a display visor, like the scouters in dragon ball z. Cellular phones will become obsolete, and mind to mind communication, through some sort of telecom monopoly corporation,  will dominate the market across the planet. All of your thoughts will be translated into text, and sent over the quantum internet.  "Joking"
Hell, I should write a dystopian science fiction novel, and profit off of this stuff lol.

Haha Grin good fantasy

We already have not just "mind reading" machines but machines that can also affect the thought process, for example TMS (transcranial magnetic simulation). They are currently too large to conceal or move about but it's not impossible that they'd soon become small enough, like how our tiny phones have more computing power than the early behemoth computers.

Wow, this is awesome. maybe this will cure depression more effectively than antidepressants or drugs. just switch your mood and that's it. A very fascinating world we live in

Death to enemies!
Tought police already is here and operating. FBI of USA, FSB of Russia, the list continues. Write or plan doing something against current establishment, and You will be persecuted in best traditions of Russian KGB. Even in USA.

Brave New World
In the future i can see some countries wanting to do this. This of course assumes those countries maintain their current ideologies or adopt worse ones..

I mean, it's a good thing that we have innovative technologies. They help us a lot. But what about our privacy? Since the launch of the internet our privacy has been undermined. And what will be the next step? Mind reading? Maybe. Just read this. In short, a startup develops a software to help us move things with our mind. https://medium.com/@neurogress/the-future-of-neuro-control-from-gaming-to-professional-application-9b4b2f8f7093.
They will significantly help people with disabilities, change gaming, and many other things.
It sounds good, but what consequences of such techologies may be? What if such technologies will be used by governments to control us even more? I think this techology can potentially read our thoughts since it understands what we think. Maybe now not now, but in the future.

So what you think? Will Orwell's thought police come true after all?  Huh Please share your thoughts on how you see the future with such things.
