That's some twisted logic right there. Many people can both gamble and do drugs recreationally and not get addicted, the problem is for those who cannot. People can get addicted to foods or all kinds of things that others wouldn't. And you don't smoke heroin or other drugs and immediately get addicted on the spot. People who keep going back to certain drugs and dangerous activities do so because they have a problem with those things. I've know people who have had gambling problems and drug issues from both soft and hard drugs; from weed to cigarettes to alcohol and more, but I also know people who can do all of those things recreationally with no problems at all.

Heroin can get you addicted in less than a week. There is no recreational heroin, just like their is no recreational crack or meth. Those are highly addictive and everyone that takes them gets addicted to them. Even if you don't think so, you do.

You're wrong. What are you basing this stuff on? Your own misinformed opinion? You can do any drug recreationally regardless or how addictive it is even meth or crack. There are no drugs you try once or twice and then you're completely hooked.

LMAO you must be a 13yr kid if you think you can't be hooked after one try. I seen it happen, I have had friends die because of it. But if you don't believe me do your own google search there scholar or science article, that will say otherwise.

Your logic here is flawed because you're going by any addict has to have tried the drug once, therefore you think everybody becomes hooked after their first try, which isn't the case.  And just because you've seen it happen doesn't make it true for everybody else. And did you really see it happen? Was you there the first time this person used drugs? I've known people who have smoked crack a few times as well as having tried many other hard drugs and never got addicted. How long does it take you to get addicted to cigarettes or weed or alcohol or cocaine? Are these all try them once and you're hooked too, or is it just hard drugs that get you on the first go? I'm sure there are many people who have claimed to be hooked on booze or cigarettes after their first try, but that doesn't make it so across the board.

If you don't believe me use google and research but you have taken this topic very much off-topic.

Gweedo, you're mis-informed.  You need to do the research, it's just as addicting as a drug.  You said you have experience with drug addicted friends.  You obviously don' t know anything about gambling addiction.  I have used alcohol and drugs and I'm not addicted to them AT ALL.  But I'm addicted to gambling.

I cannot be held solely responsible for doing that. And I don't need to google anything, but a quick search from multiple sources just brings up that it's highly addictive, not try it once and you're screwed. You're just misinformed here.

Where is your compassion man? Cheesy They are in agony and you want to isolate them, that's rude man Cheesy

Exactly I don't have compassion for these people. Gambling addiction is non-existance. I have seen people going thru hardcore drug addiction and these people want someone to feel bad for them, yeah ok. Gambling is not a real addiction, it is weak minded people that want to be victims but don't have a bad life so they create it for themselves.

Non-existance; what? Gambling is a real addiction. With your logic you can just say hardcore drug addiction is just weak-minded people. All it takes for drug addicts to stop is to just stop, but obviously it isn't as easy as that and there are often underlying problems like with most other addictions.

Drug addiction is a chemical controlling you. Gambling addiction is your OWN mind controlling you. Very different for you to say that similar is disrespectful to people that have drug issues. Gambling addiction is like sex addiction, there is no addiction, they just can't say no to themselves. Making them weak mind people.

And what do you think "controls" your brain and moods? Chemicals. It's disrespectful of you to say people with non-drug addictions are not true addicts and are just weak-minded people. You really don't understand addictions well at all. Drug addicts can't say no either, it's the same thing. To overcome any addiction all you've got to do is stop doing the damaging behaviour. If you're arguing that sex and gambling addiction is just weak-mindedness, then so is drug addiction. You can quit any drugs or behaviour just by not doing them, but you obviously don't understand addictions very well.

How can I play poker and not have a gambling addiction, yet if I did heroin right now, I would get addicted? I can control when I gamble and when I stop. But drugs is a different beast altogether. I don't think you ever had a friend or family member that had a drug addiction. I have had a friend addicted to drugs, and it was not pretty. Gambling addicts want attention and most addiction places don't recognize it as an addiction.
