Just a clarification: I think the "free zone" would be better translated as the "off topic section".

This is something to discuss with your local mod/community, but you don't need a new sub board to do all that in. I'm sure your local mod will update or sticky the new thread if you create it.


There's nothing stopping you from discussing all this in the "free zone". Does it really matter if they're among shit threads? I don't think Local boards should even have their own off topic sections either as they're just prime for abuse with spam, but they certainly don't need a dedicated Meta sub either. If you can't get a decent discussion going in a thread in there then I doubt having your own sub for it would be much more productive.

If does get a bit messy though in my opinion. The default section mixes forum related messages with crypto, and the other alternative is “esquina libre” (something like “free zone”), where one posts what doesn't fit in any of the other available sections.
When people want to discuss forum related things, they do it in either of those threads, due to uncertainty of where posts of this nature are better suited. Most of forum related posts though are actually placed in the free zone area, but it does get weird reading it along side “what film do you like”, “favourite series” and such. Perhaps there is not enough posting on the matter going on for a specific section, but as stated, it's a bit confusing discussing forum alongside off-topic related subject.

I’ve tried to get the translation of @Welsh’s Guide to Reporting Effectively on a sticky there (PMd the admin), but no luck yet. Also tried to find out what can be done about the sticky with the rules which has not been updated for over a year (OP has not been active for over a year) and is not synchronized to the English version.

I’m a Spanish native speaker and I don’t see the need for a meta section there, either. There are hardly any threads about meta subjects and only with few replies. To create a new board would divide the traffic even more.

I get your point but, obviously, I can't concur with you. The discussions about the forum on the local boards, from my perspective, are quite necessary if we want to avoid the centralization. Notice that not many people speak/read English, and the policies should be discussed in any language for us to come in here and be able to make propositions after a local-debate.
Now, as mentioned, this is kind of messy not being sure where to discuss the forum problematics, changes and new policies. Duplicated threads can be created, and given the lack of a space, some of the debates are partial and dissected into pieces.
Now, regarding general threads, some of the rules were translated by users that are no longer actives, so some of the stickies are outdated and contain information that is no longer valid. Even if we just ask the mods to stick another thread, it will be kind of difficult to determinate in which board should we implement those related to the forum policies, for there is not a designated place to this kind of conversation, but multiple boards being used under subjective appreciation. That's messy  !!

I really don't think local boards need their own Meta sub sections and would just be overkill and unnecessary. The rules/FAQs/guides or anything else that is important and you think users need to know can just be translated and stickied. Compile a general thread yourself if you wish or just speak to your local sub mod about sticking one of the ones you mentioned as they have the power to pin topics there.

As some of you know, the Spanish board is pretty active, and we have a nice community in there. Given the recent changes related to the forum normative, we have come to realize that we don't exactly know where to have our discussions about the forum itself.

One example illustrating the situation we are living happened a couple of weeks ago when the merit for becoming Junior member was implemented. Both @DdmrDdmr and @Paxmao, two of the most active users, translated the new normative into Spanish, overlapping each other unconsciously, for there is not a place designated to any forum discussion.

- Meantime, Paxmao was translating the same stuff into the main Spanish, a board that, honestly, I think that not many of us know how to use  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/nuevas-reglas-sobre-todo-para-newbies-jr-member-requiere-1-punto-de-merito-5032048

The forum is in constant change and evolution, and I feel that we need to keep the people informed by translating some of the most relevant posts from here and posting them into our own Spanish-space. Honestly, some of the conversations tend to be repeated into different boards in the Spanish section, and the example above is just one in between many. Besides, I've seen some confused Newbies and, even though we have our own version of the "Beginners and Help" board, there is not a place to forum discussions yet, so this is kind of messy for the newcomers too.

So, what is the process to ask for our own meta board in the Spanish Section? Is there any application system for us to communicate with the admins so we can have some arrangement? Any special pray?
