i'd like to believe that it is still happening although it may go unnoticed. and there is not much we can do about that. it is the monetary gain aspect of it that ruins everything. and we can not remove that aspect without making the cryptocurrency useless.
i also believe that this will be remedied in long term. it will eventually becomes hard for scammers to create a simple useless project and earn money from it and they will go away. and what is left will be the good projects that the developers actually work on them.

The points you are making are good ones, and the whole value crypto gained in the beginning was from such ideals as having financial freedom, decentralized, be your own bank, access your money from any point of the world.
Those are fundamentals and those will never change, that is why Bitcoin will always have value. 1 BTC will be 1 BTC. Always.
Why bother with fiat when with 1 second bar scan I can buy a coffee or a boat. Even an island. Crypto is awesome.

Look make your money on centralised ICOs and piles of shitcoins but please can we just return to a small amount of why bitcoin was invented. The recent Google memo story reminds me how much power is in a few hands of people who clearly dont want freedom but bondage for us and our childrens future.
Along the way of making money we got to remember this is about taking control away from a minority and giving it to everyone. Personal freedom, truthful media, freedom of speech, freedom of finance and ownership. I miss the days where at least people talked about it. Now its just make as much fiat as you can on the journey of bastardizing the vision of a decentlized free world.

I think in the old world it's almost the same. People are greedy too, it was just that, nowadays people are just more aggressive and persistent. With the opportunities that the crypto currency world opened to the people. People would most likely pursue it, because it's an easy way to earn money. The only difference that I see in the past is that, people in the past aren't that knowledgeable about the opportunities, that's why people from the past are less aggressive and controlling.

Bitcoin has not changed much but most of the people are not here for personal freedom, freedom of finance etc. I don't think also bitcoin was created for such humanistic goals.

i do pray most of the people that are open new project and always speak evil on bitcoin will read this thread and see it as a reminder for the reason why bitcoin was developed by this great man called satoshi. He created a decentralized system for financial freedom but Bitcoin Cash and others altcoins came out to create a centralize system because they still want to keep humanity in bondage and control. I have started to develop and idea but after reading this thread I will dump the idea. Thank you op for this wonderful write up. It's all supply and demand.
There are many old and new cryptocurrencies that are focusing on every sector we can think about.
There are coins dedicated solely for anonymity.
We can't force everyone a way.

Im not against self interest. There is short term interest that is easy to see but their is also long term self interest which is what im talking about. Im not trying to encourave some kind of altruistic socialist share the wealth bullshit.
Im just saying lets not strangle ourselves on the noose we make for ourselves.
