Is there anything we should do to partially protect ourselves if our info has been stolen?
I would guess if a bank lost our info, we could sue them. Gox seems to do what it wants and get away with it.

Do we know for sure that hackers in fact got those files?

I am sure that my User_ID is in fact in the leaked database with my correct BTC and EUR balances. (I had to check for myself to get a little shocked. Shocked)
However, I never saw my scanned ID anywhere. Did you...?

And by the way, I suspect that even the database is not entirely correct.

For example, I can't believe Karpeles himself lost ~210k from his own BTC by making bad trades on his own exchange over the years while also paying the regular trading fees.
But may be he "lost" those coins on Mt.Gox deliberately to gain even more somewhere else and he was simply lazy to set up a privileged account for himself with zero trading fees. Roll Eyes

trading fees = tax deduction

Need i say more?

You can sue a Bankrupt company sure but your going to get jack shit for your efforts and have to pay the legal fee's.

Lets not go into im sure my details have leaked.  Better start with proof.

P.S  You would be real lucky to pierce the corporate veil.  So no your not going to get Marks money.  At best you win and add to the many claims against Mtgox.

How many people got a payout when the PSN got hacked for example.  Thats an operating profitable company.

hahaha... get in line... I want my money back that they owe me first.

$100M? yeah right, lol

Please go fork out hundreds of thousands of dollars in lawyers fees and see what you can get, lol

If we make a large group it may amount to $1000 each or less

We need to form a legal group there is a huge potential for this. We can win the $100Million

Mark K has enough btc to cover this, we must destroy him

I think it's impossible to sue a bankrupted company.

You want to sue them because other portions of the Bitcoin community stole your info and are now selling it?

Shouldn't you go after the thief and not kick the victim any more?

They filed for bankruptcy in U.S.
What if you sue them in another country, Japan let's say?

Yes you can, but they filled for bankruptcy so you won't be getting anything from them although it can worsen their case, if anything bad shows up in the investigation

I want to sue MTGOX for not securing my info, im pretty sure all my details passport address etc is now leaked in the database. I want to sue them , do we have a case? I will join you if we form a group, maybe sue for $100Million + for breach of privacy.

The security at mtgox was so bad that it can be labelled as "intentional"

what do you guys say
