Clearly a bunch of members are unhappy about a lot of things. For those who don't know, https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/smas-signature-managers-against-spam-light-version-1545652 is a movement in the right direction aka solution to some of the problems concerning bitcointalk going to sh*t.
My question though would be what else could be done? This goes to the old( - 2012), VIP, Legendary and Donator, staff etc - accounts?

Ah, but there is! The forum provides a helpful warning:
"Warning: Moderators do not remove likely scams. You must use your own brain: caveat emptor. Watch out for Ponzi schemes. Do not invest more than you can afford to lose."

even if a mod personally came around your house and screamed at you not to be so dumb, there'd still be plenty of people stupid enough to fall for all the shit that thrives here. i don't think it'll ever change. people are stupid and greedy and that overrules common sense most times.

Don't forget the securities section.  There are 101 scam attempts for each legitimate thread.  Some of them don't even make an effort.  I scooped up these "securities" off the first page and not one of them is even remotely resembling a legitimate offering.  It goes beyond being "embarrassed" to wondering why nothing is done to discourage the practice.

I don't know about you guys, but I am absolutely shocked and embarrassed with the current state of this Gambling forum. This forum is overrun by thread after thread of empty spam threads (i.e. "Is Gambling Wrong?", "Should Gambling be Illegal?", "Would You Gamble if You Were Rich?" etc.), being constantly bumped to the top signature spammers (I understand I am running a signature as well, but I do not spam in those useless threads).
Well the BCT forum is run by people and not bots. All these questions asked are made by people themselves. Regarding you question, I believe a new section should be made named "Experiences in Daily Life"

Back when I spent a lot of time here in 2013-2014, this forum had a community feel to it. The threads were ENTIRELY gambling start ups and businesses. You could see all the cool new gambling ventures being started by enterprising individuals, many of whom came with awesome promotions to kick start their sites with their first users.
This is the same thing I see in Quora, a Q&A platform. This can't be helped unless you move BCT to the deep web.

That sense of community and innovation is now completely void on this forum. I personally don't even check in to here very often, and it's even rarer that I post. I'm sure countless others have done the same, too.

Well, you and we all can suggest theymos to change the feeds as per the user's taste.

Well, they are too lazy to search for threads, humans as we are.

Bitcoin Discussion (there's still some crappy threads)

Only some? I'd say more like 80% of the threads there, and 90% of the threads on the front page.

I'll add to that:

Lending (spammers who will prey on lending requests without collateral and then pile replies of "you should get collateral!" on top of each other)
Beginners and Help (sig spammers that continue useless threads by replying the same basic info over and over again)
Digital Goods (PM me! [add in a couple extra useless sentences that they need to pass the sig requirement]) or (Can I haz vouch pls)

The problem is some of the signature campaigns require users to post in the Gambling forums specifically. (Looking at FortuneJack, requiring 35 posts a cycle (every week IIRC) to take place within Gambling).

Anyways, as my edit also indicates, this post is only in reference to the Gambling forum, not Bitcointalk as a whole.
Only Gambling? What about:
Economics
    -> Speculation
Bitcoin Discussion (there's still some crappy threads)
Auctions (useless replies asking for information 5 times)
Mining (yes, some ignorant people have found a way)
    -> Mining speculation
Service Announcements
-> Micro Earnings (oh god no)
Service Discussion (some reply saying "oh x is good because the design looks nice"
Off-topic (which is just a goner)

And that's where I'll leave it off. Those are the sections I've seen the most bland replies and topics.

Yeah, the forum has gone to shit. It was great from 2010 to 2012; and went past the point of no return in late 2013 / early 2014.

Woah. Didn't expect to see this name in my thread. The whole TradeHill/inputs.io scam happened right when I first got involved with Bitcoin. It's an honor TF.

There are Games and Rounds section, Investor based game section and off topic board where other things could be discussed. I prefer the gambling section be restricted to specific game or site and discussing the strategy and outcome. Things like is gamble sin?, can you win gambling? needs to be in off topic board.

This is exactly how I feel, and this is how it used to be. I would actually use the Gambling forum again if these regulations were put in to place.

I dont think its wrong to start thread like "Would You Gamble if You Were Rich" its not about spamming..i think thats a really interesting questions thats why many many people replied there..just to know different views of people ....if they want to scam then they could reply or post on any other thread...
Yes i can say there are some similar topics..instead of starting new thread about same topic people should post or read in the thread already created

Hey hey, you're back! What up?

Not much, I'm just checking this forum again and seeing if anything has changed. Unfortunately, it is still a junkyard with a signal to noise ratio that's far too high. (I'm not sure if there's even signal here nowadays).

Someone got me to post here Cheesy

>junkyard with a signal to noise ratio that's far too high
Theymos is all grown up. He finally figured out that forums are a misnomer; are actually ad platforms.
Content is just the bait in the trap; a trap which can be better baited by paying people to post, e.g. signature ads.

TF, weren't you banned for mentioning Theymos' dox, or something like that before? Also to all people complaining that forum is cluttered with spammy posts.
Don't you all wanted to bitcoin to succeed, gain enormous user base and receive total acceptation of everyone? Here is beginning of your dream, already in motion.

I kid you not:  I've had the games and rounds section on ignore for so long that OP just reminded me it even existed.  And I ignore it because it's where the worst of bitcointalk shitposters go to die.  It's the place where 1000 degenerate 3rd world country gamblers and sig spammers congregate,  and who the fuck wants to be a part of that?

You may right, and i think people more like to disscuss about gambling thread with easy topic, not related gambling strategy or website, its why i think thread like that still needed by us.

You can always avoid or ignore those threads. Maybe the new forum can add the flexibility of hiding a topic in the list if you don't want to see it. I don't see it ending, as the repeeated threads are sometimes created by people who haven't read the previous one. You can try requesting in the Meta for a separate section for just the Gambling Websites, and one for Gambling discussion.

Hi.
You have some right here and there and yet you yourself created a thread
with little to no input on gambling subject. See how easy is to blabber about post
quality decrease?
This is very common on fully developed platforms. Along with popularity comes
pop-talk Wink Happened on redit, dig etc. Just how it is.
As to general innovations and new businesses announcement IMO those
gold times where new, reliable gambling platforms emerge are over.
Former Start-ups established themselves as strong and today almost nothing
can compete with them. Again, its normal that big getting BIGGER, popular becomes
legendary and so on.
Dont get old and grumpy Smiley adapt and do your thing.
