i will not advise anyone to trade futures for long term. this is because of the market behaviour and actions which i think will liquidate almost all traders. its best to trade it shortly and take profits.

Trading futures is very risky method and if you are well knowledgable on trading futures you may know it for yourself. As long you know how to manage your risks and you know how much you are willing to lose since the market is volatile. Trading can be short or long term it depends on your strategies. We can gain in short term and long term always remember do your own research and trade at your own risks.

both can be done. It seems more advisable to do short-term futures trading because it minimizes the risk in the occurrence of losses. If you are sure, and if you want to try it you can go to binance because they provide a long term trading service that is already trusted.

For those who believe and are recommending others not to open a futures trade for long term, you need to check this out:

If you've got the right mindset and have the guts to wait for a long time with low leverage, you'll surely reap the fruits of trading futures. Though, take my advice with a pinch of salt.

It could be because it is a choice and a long target for future goals is basically an achievement that requires extra patience, and it comes back to you. When we have made a purchase in reality we will worry about the price going down and as much as possible we will take the opportunity to sell, but if you have a patient person and are ready for future profits, then I think it will be fine for your investment. But if you use it for trading as long as you understand the techniques in reading market movements, I'm sure day trading will be better.

You can do both, short-term and long-term, but it would be better to find trading platforms/exchanges that support margin trading with expiry dates on them, for example BitMEX right now have XBTH21(will be expired at March 26th) and XBTM21(Will be expired at June 25th) that support up to 100x leverage.

The good thing about trading on these instead of the normal Perpetual 100X contracts would be that they charge fees just twice, one for opening and one for closing your position and nothing in the middle, while if you opened a long-term position on "Perpetual 100X" you have to pay funding fees every 7-8 hours, but depending on your position funding could change between negative and positive and even though you could be paid some funding along the way it's too much risk involved in it and it could shake out your position out of funds in the long run.

Of course, you can do it at your preference. But you should track your trading results so you can see if that it effective or not, and so you can make a change if ever there are no positive results. Just try for 1 month, maybe it was enough to assess the result and it is for you to decide to continue it or find another one.

I'm not a full-time trader, just on and off, but I'd never have this trading strategy as I regularly use spot trading style. This seems comfortable for me that is why I'd never look at another one.

In my opinion, you must know about trading first and I think if you can gain complete knowledge about trading then you will understand whether long-term trading is better or short term trading is better for the future. However, many traders are like short term trade because short term trade is more profitable than long term.

It's better short term (less than a month normally).

Other options like binance margin (where you pay 8% interest a year on money lent) will be a lot cheaper than using futures.

No, this is not correct. I think OP means a future option. This is another feature available when you make a trade based on future predictions. This option is very advance while making trades and can be generally found in the share market/stock market. In this one you deal with trading asset and predict the price in the given time. All you have to do is mark the percentage rise or drop in the given period of time. If you hit the same predictions then you get pretty bonus amount.

I don’t think that we have Future option in the crypto currency trading. Please enlighten me if I have predicted OP in other way.

You can open a future trade for long term but it is always risky. Since the cryto currencies are volatile, you will never know if any day the coin dumps to your liquidation point and all your funds are lost. Its best that once you open a future trade, watch it closely and take profits from it rather than keeping it open indefinitely.

Futute trading is not good for long term  as i loss their. You can earn 10% or even more in futute trading but its not a stable market and you can lose your money.
I advise you to do a spot trading and make profit here . its almost risk free

That's right, for altcoin trading we must be able to see and consider all the potential from various aspects. because altcoin prices soar depending on how Trends and Hype at a certain moment. then SPOT trading is more effective to use.
As for Bitcoin and Ethereum long-term trading is much more profitable.

Of course, only short-term trading can not be a part of the investment and it is not a way to succeed in the long run. If you want to get only profit then the short-term investment is perfect but if you want to increase your investment value then you should trade for the long term. So if one wants to reach your goal in life then long-term trade is a perfect choice.

of course it can, but it is risky, we do not know the market situation is very volatile, usually dumps just happen, and panic sell occurs,
futures trading for me is not for long-term investment, but for getting profit every day, if you want to invest and hold long term, spot market is the right choice.
this way, if you are still insistent on long term trading futures, then you have to buy it at the bottom end, don't let the market sentiment change, if it changes liquidation will come your way.

Long time and short time trading depend on some logic and predicament. So, as usual, you will trade according to the predicament and based on your category of work. Now presume you are not patient, what should you do? Of course in that prosecution, you will not do long-term trading. Because you will be anxious all the period. Of course, it is also not useful for your trading life, experience, and your health. Likewise, it turns out you can work with enough patience in case you can do long-term trading. My opinion is that if you are a beginner or expect very fast profit then you are trading short time.

You are answering in general about trading without reading carefully the main point of OP. He is asking about "Future Trading" which we all know that best only for short trading that's why its called "Future" trading.

The daily interest on position will decrease the profit or increase the loss of the traders overtime no matter what is the situation. Trading it long term is very risky.

Depend on your capital and levarage that you use. If you have a huge capital and use low leverage then there is a chance for you to hold your position for long term. I'm sure there will be many investor who will do this.

But for myself I just choose short term trading, everytime I trade I'll choose directly the profit target. As an example I always use low capital like $100 then I'll only have a target $10 for every time I enter to the market.

At least I'll make two until three entry in one day using 4 time frame as a banchmark to see the market sentiment. Trading future is like trading spot, you can hold it for long term and short investment depend on your strategy and situation.

you can trade long or short term according to your budget. Normally for the short-term monthly term, if the term is more than 2 months, it is included in the long term, and don't forget to choose tokens or coins that have a high future in the future.
Perhaps you are misunderstanding this problem, trading future does not depend on our budget too much, it depends on our skills and experience and personally, I think we should enter short-term futures trading because this is the safest option when this futures contract always has certain daily fees, in the long run, we will be at a disadvantage, sometimes the profit will not be able to cover the daily fee. The most important is the leverage no matter small or big, we are always risky with this market, many people often burn their accounts just because trading futures in the long term.

I am new in cryptocurrency Trading. I want to know, Can i trade Future Trading for long term or short term...🙄

Definitely yes! Crypto futures are the most recent thing that has caught some steam in the crypto space. Generally, it doesn't matter much if you buy Bitcoin or it's futures because even delivery of bitcoin is immediate but this difference has been created due to huge amounts of leverage that exchanges are offering these days. Derivatives exchanges like FTX, Bitmex, and even Binance are now making much more business than traditional exchange catering only bitcoin. Coming to trading futures. I would love to recommend you futures trading. But futures obviously come with a big caveat. Futures are undoubtedly the riskiest thing you can buy. It's because you the Liquidation point is sometimes so close to the current price and we all know how volatile this, therefore a lot of positions are liquidated on daily basis in this market. The very first thing you will need to learn before starting trading is risk management and how to create positions while keeping tight stop losses and still get profits. You can trade futures in long term only if you sustain yourself with your limited capital in this choppy market.

Of course it is possible, but it is your responsibility which commercial operations are convenient for you and any not, if you enter into these types of operations or negotiations you must be clear about the risks, I would advise in the short term, but if you have the confidence do it in the long term.

Many individuals begin trading without fully understanding the contract's fundamentals. A winner and a loser are available for each trade. In order to hedge their other positions, many firms and professional fund managers use futures. To lower the risk of their portfolio, they are using their futures contract.
In the market whether in spot or futures, there will always be a winner and loser. If someone gains, it's someone's loss.

In futures trading, long term success comes from mastering three disciplines. You are probably familiar with these rules if you are a successful stock trader. First, you need a proven process of trading that works for trading futures. Next, proper techniques for money management can go a long way to helping you win the futures trading game. Lastly, you are likely to lose whenever your feelings control your trading.
The last part for me is the most important. Whether how good you are in strategies and you're very good in analysis through charts if you're very emotional, don't feel sorry for yourself but you're likely to lose.

Feelings that control your decisions is one of the most important parts of it, it is definitely not something I would have expected out of just futures, it is true for every single trading as well, people act as if it is nothing important but if you put your emotions into the crypto world that would be basically ruining your whole system, that is why I think it is quite important that we do not end up with emotions controlling because that is the biggest mistake.

However rest are truly futures, it is also quite risky so you need to be a good veteran trader in order to really do it, if you are not a good trader that had great success on regular buy/sell trading world (spot) that means you are not going to be great at futures neither. In order to be great at futures, you need to be great at spot first, I have never met anyone in my life who lost money on spot and was bad at it but somehow became good in futures trading.

Say my wallet it 1000USDT can I use 100USDT on a short
If it goes up and I get liquidated can I lose the full 1000 or just the 100.
And the same question if I use smaller amounts like 20 or 50

It depends on the leverage margin mode you're on. On Binance, there's isolated and cross margins. The difference between the two lies in the fact that cross margin depends on your full balance (in your futures account) while trades made in isolated margin, it only take into account the amount you put on the trade to sustain the trade in the event of a liquidation. With cross margin, when it gets to the initial liquidation price, your futures account balance is used to sustain the position for much longer.

Like I said, it depends on the margin mode you're on. If you're on cross margin and your futures balance is $1000 and then you proceeded to use $100 for a trade. If the trade doesn't go your way and on brick of liquidation, more margin will get added from $900 remaining to keep the position open. If the price keeps going against you, at a point, you will get liquidated and your account will be wiped and rekt (aka $1000 to zero).  For isolated, only $100 is used. Your futures balance isn't touched.

Since you're still new to futures, I suggest using low Leverages for your positions and increase as time goes on or as you get more familiar with it.

You really need to do how long you can wait because if you are have a lot of patience you can do longterm but if not shorterm is good for you but even you do that you will need a patience and that is the key to earn money. But I highly recommended that you do a longterm because most of the investors and traders earn by choosing this because if the market dump you will not panic because you do a longterm and mostly those traders who are do shorterm mostly panic selling.

Obviously yes but as a beginner (I believe you're), you should go for the short term future trades provided you have acquired all the necessary knowledge and information needed to be successful both at the traditional trading in general and future trading to be precised. The market is very volatile that's it's hard to predict exactly what tommorow holds for the market. The sentiment now can be a bullish scenario come months time but a change as a result of fud could alter everything.

Also we know the global economy is still struggling and recovering, and bitcoin still react to the outcome of the global economy therefore a scenario when the market experience some downtrend could trigger a reaction from the cryptocurency market which will result to a dump in price. Just to play it safe and minimum your risk, all trade should be done in short timeframe at the moment until everything stabilizer and the fear of another pandemic is out of the picture.

Yes you can, though it's not advisable to do it for long term, you can do it. But make sure you do have margin for to have a long and far liquidation price. I saw some with a very long position and the profits is really huge. But thus kind of trade is very risky, if your position is good make sure to adjust always the TP with a good profit. That's the advantage of having that feature to make sure even when your set is hit you are already on gain.

I am thinking of getting in to futures on Binance
I have about a 75% success rate with normal trading and want to increase my profits.
I know there are dangers but I am starting with a small budget will use stop losses and only plan on x10 rates

I have been reading and watches vids on this put have a question
Can I only lose what I put on the trade or if it is liquidated can I lose all the money in my wallet

Say my wallet it 1000USDT can I use 100USDT on a short
If it goes up and I get liquidated can I lose the full 1000 or just the 100.
And the same question if I use smaller amounts like 20 or 50

More and more you see derivative (futures) contract called perpetuals.
Meaning there is no expiration date so, in practice, you can trade them long term.
Yes perpetuals don't expire but Bitmex also has other futures contracts that do expire and therefore one can trade them by holding positions long term. A newbie could easily trade them minus knowing the type of contract they just longed or shorted.

This guide has a list of Live futures contracts along with their expiry dates

Because crypto prices are very volatile I recommend trading for long-term, because current crypto price movements are difficult to predict.
For newbies who do not have good analytical skills, it is very risky when trading short-term. But for long-term trading, we only need to wait
for the price to rise to reach the target we have set. Then my advice is to buy coins that are popular and have high volume. So that
the percentage of success is higher.

Trading is good for short term. But if you want to make money from it, you have to be diligent doing it because many are also getting a not so good result as they trade. Most specially in being a newbie in trading, you need to gain experience first.

Without having such, you'll throw money on it but if you have the purpose of doing it and for the sake of learning. Those loss will be worth it for you because you're learning with it. Start with small amount and learn the basics.

It's is absolutely dependent on the type of trader that you are. If what works best for you is day trading, then you'd lose money if you try to trade on the long term. Swing trader can sometimes place a trade and it will last for 4 weeks and even more.
I think what you really need to find out is what of trader you are. You might have to try it yourself with some demo account so you don't blow your capital. Take your chances with and try in the process, discover what type of trader that you are.

Consider short term for future trading.
To be frankly speaking, future trading is for the expert traders and also to those with deep pockets who takes out gains for a very short time as possible as they can.

It's would be risky for a new trader like you to consider trading futures, all future day traders should close trades within 24 hrs of entry, never keep it long as it may ruin your portfolio.

The most important investment part is the long term because if you want to reach a position then no option without long-term investment. Short-term investment is excellent for immediate profit but there is high volatility but if want to establish yourself in the capital market then the future investment should be long term. Long-term investment may suffer from many ups and down situations but in the last, you will achieve more value for your patients.

With margin or future tradings, you should never let your positions open for too long. You will be kill when the market flips its movements.

With different leverage for your position, you must decide which period you will let it opens. You must have a plan to close position within that period: Win or draw or even a loss. Close it and wait for other entry.

Sometimes, you have to accept a draw or a loss to avoid massacre. The market always gives you other good entries.

It's very possible to long term on futures especially if you have a large margin so you won't be liquidated if you are on a cross trading. But I prefer short term trading on futures because I am always using isolated on trading in futures because of the small margin I have. A small margin can be liquidated on a cross trading easily. Well, I always believe that we should find our own way on how we trade, We do have different situations in life and the compatibility of trade style depends on us.

Margin trading or futures trading is riskier than spot trading. In margin trading, if you have higher leverage without knowing what it is there is an instance you will liquidate immediately most saddest part is you set it into the Cross margin.

We have two options in trading.

Cross trading which you set an amount but to avoid liquidation it reduces your current balance in your futures wallet.

Isolated trading if you put the specific amount that's all will gone if get liquidate no more or less than that.

Yes of course it will depend on your strategy but you have to remember the risk of future trading, it can lose all your capital easily if you don’t pay attention on that. Also, you’re just new in crypto trading its better to have knowledge first about trading, the risk of this trades so you wont get disappointed that much if you lose you money.

Why not?
Of course, long term trading can be accomplished in the future. But the question is whether the long term trade of the future will be profitable or unprofitable. After experimenting with that issue, I reckon it is satisfactorily to trade short than to trade long for the future. Earnings from short trades will retain appearing and you can reverse the type of trade at any duration if you prefer. But in a long business, you have to pause for a restricted time. Which is quite a dilemma.

More and more you see derivative (futures) contract called perpetuals.
Meaning there is no expiration date so, in practice, you can trade them long term.

However a common practice is to trade these contracts on a daily or weekly basis because of the Interest you pay by holding them.

It is better to carefully learn and understand how the contracts work as they differ from an exchange to another and can quickly turn out complicated.

BitMex is giving some documentation about their own perpetuals:

If you mean by holding a futures position long term then is not suitable and profitable at times, reasons being;

1. Certain Futures contract expire after certain dates
2. The funding rates/ interest rates could easily eat up the profits you could have made
3. Crypto market is very volatile and always up and down. Why would you hold a position from let say when Bitcoin is worth $4K to $10K then back to $4k. This means no work done, yet you have lost some money in trading  fees and funding rates plus even a possibility of getting liquidated.

Basically, Futures trading is better is you are a day trader.

bitcoin and Ethereum for sure, but for altcoins please do an investigation according to your ability. I suggest the top 10.

As usual anything that has to do with longtime and future, bitcoin and etheruem or top valuable coins found in cmc with good value are the best. Volume always indicate the rate if exchange which shows interest in investors. High profile coins are best you need for it.

Always use reliable information and see which crypto-related analytical research is good for the long term. bitcoin and Ethereum for sure, but for altcoins please do an investigation according to your ability. It's better short term (less than a month normally).

Other options like binance margin (where you pay 8% interest a year on money lent) will be a lot cheaper than using futures.
