Next jump is in four days and it's looking to be about the same as the last...I have a hard time envisioning it going down...

I agree with Randy, I also have a hard time seeing the difficulty go down.

It's not summer everywhere... But my bet also goes to slower increase.

Those who have invested in rigs would not have them powered off even if they can cook a chicken in the house. I don't see difficulty dropping, but will anticipate a much slower rate of increase.

BTW, I'm mining near the equator. It's summer all year round here.

There's some good discussions about this already, http://forum.bitcoin.org/?topic=4339.0 for example. Personally I doubt it as hardware costs decrease and new more capable hardware is made available the amount of mining is likely to increase or at least remain constant. BTW it's only summer in half on half of the planet.
