I also don't think this is really needed, however I suggest you to lock the thread (to prevent the spam).

I just think the chance of people abusing it is to great.  If this happened it could severly effect someone without cause.

I think this is why we have/need mods.  We need a person who should not have an agenda on either side to look at a user and see if it is crap.  Also deciding how long ban based on how crappy.

I don't want human element of staff removed from this process personally.

Make every trust feedback a trusted one.

That's what you will get if you allow that everyone vote on bans

Being able to continue to post here is not a popularity contest. Sometimes people who contribute the most and who give the best information are very controversial, and say things that could upset some people. Additionally forum votes can very easily be manipulated and are generally considered to be worthless.

Additionally people who are able to find and stop scammers are very unpopular with well scammers and as a result scammers will have a financial incentive to get those who are good at stopping them from stealing to be banned and they can acquire a lot of accounts to stack a vote.

The reason why someone should be banned is because they have broken a rule (or a number of rules), and have done so excessively. Just look at how many times that some people had to derail threads with off-topic posts before they were banned.

The forum should look for ways to ban people less (eg by better educating them about what it right and wrong in regards to posting) rather then more (eg by having more ways that people can get banned.

why we need this?
moderators are doing their work perfectly but if in case they miss something then you can report the user to moderator/admin
if you find someone spamming on forum report them to moderators, they will look into this and take a proper action

Then you'd have to moderate the banning too. It would get very convoluted very quickly.

As others have said not a good idea. It'll just turn into a popularity contest and votes can easily be manipulated. If you feel a user is breaking the rules or being a nuisance then either report their post(s) to a mod or pm them the info.

There's a reason why Moderators are chosen in the community to do some works base on them being able to differentiate right from wrong and give deserved punishments to the person going against the rules and having the power on banning is one of them and not ours and the suggestion of banning people on vote will make the situation even worst since there will be people that just make unlimited account just for the sake of voting someone off this forum which is not fair and those who nominating the person that to be ban would certainly be the one's against the person and probably wouldn't act as neutral to the situation either so its really a bad idea in my opinion

Seems a stupid idea, banning should be done by a neutral source i.e. a mod.
If normal posters feel they have some sort of power to influence bannings then it would be a bad thing.

Some people have many alts so you could never trust a polls results to be genuine any way.

bad idea, someone could just spam account and let them be hero or whatever restriction you will put on the vote, and then counted as a many votes while he was only one man

also many users want to see other banned because they hate them, not because of a good reason

Mods are doing a pretty good job of it, and many times a ban may also be considered if a reputable member ex- shorena supports it. And as someone has said it earlier, votes can be easily misused. If you do want mods to notice someone's spam posts , however, you can PM then as I have in many cases which ay get yourself heard, or simply report their posts as spam and if mods notice their recent posts of insubstantial quality then the person may get a ban.

Just let the mods do their works in banning those people that they think deserves it. We can already report a user posts, I think that is enough to help and notify the mods about the users inapropriate action in the forum.

I don't support this. it's very easy to abuse votes and most people will just vote for banning someone because they don't like that user.
