I would still recommend the stock exchange Livecoin)
True choice of coins is limited, but soon this process will be launched in full.

I'm new to Bitcoin mining so I just wanted to know if you could convert altcoins to bitcoins, and maybe a few starting mining options? I assume that a lot of altcoins make a few bitcoins.

use shapeshift to convert alts to btc without risking your coins

At present shapeshift only allows a switch to Ether - they haven't restored the other alts. And shapeshift charges very high fees.

OP should send the alt coins he mined to an exchange - try poloniex, or bittrex, both are reliable.

yes this is what all this section is about lol, to buy bitcoin with altcoin mining, you can mine bitcoin indirectly basically at a greater rate then conventional mining, you can even trade them here on the forum, good luck

You can do that using exchanges (Bittrex, Polo, Shapeshift, Yobit and many others)

If you want to convert your altcoins to btc very fast, you can use Shapeshift, but in my opinion Bittrex and Polo are the most reliable exchanges

Yes. There are several exchanges where you can do this. I personally prefer using Shapeshift.io, I find it to be the simplest, and I've never had an issue with them. There are some sites that will offer better rates, however.

Do I get you right? You are asking how to convert altcoins to Bitcoin? If so, I do recommend to use one exchange like Poloniex or Yobit in order to exchange your alts to Bitcoin.
Ditto.  Yes, look at my signature, I am in Yobit's campaign so it probably will sound like I'm biased.  Yobit is pretty good for trading altcoins, though the volume on some of them (Dash in particular) is pretty slim and it's hard to get the price you want sometimes.  I've also used poloniex and found them to be decent.  I used to use Cryptsy...damn, what a shame about them.

This is a better way to make Bitcoin. Rather than try to get him with his powers.
And as already unsubscribed above, with the exchange will not have problems.

You can get an idea of the value of each altcoin at Coinmarketcap.com

I use Poloniex, as others have mentioned. Another exchange is bittrex.com - please note that no exchange handles 100% of altcoins. There are just too many, and unfortunately there is quite a bit of corruption involved in the process by which altcoins are added (or dropped) by exchanges (kickbacks/bribes, etc.). Generally the announcement thread here on bitcointalk for each altcoin will list the exchanges each altcoin trades on.

Of course all exchanges has this feature but it all depends on the altcoins you are holding and from what exchanges it is listed, before you invest or mine any altcoin be sure to check what exchange it is listed so you'll have no problem converting it to bitcoin anytime..
