yes but you will also need the blockcain on there etc there may be a way to do it with just wallet.dat but C:\Program Files\Bitcoin\bitcoin.exe -datadir=E:\Bitcoin for example

Very much appreciate the info. I'm unfortunately a Windows idiot (and I don't own a Windows computer anyways). Any Mac people around who can comment?

I run a Mac using 10.6.8 and the wallet.dat file (plus some various other database and assorted files) seem to be occupied on user/library/application support/bitcoin.

Is it possible to run Bitcoin locally on your computer but have these files located on a USB drive? The idea would be that in the unlikely scenario someone hacked my computer remotely, they couldn't just copy the wallet file and either crack it or open it themselves.
