Its still safe to keep your coin on exchanges because when the split happens you will get your coin since exchanges support hard fork.

The market is falling is it the affect of the upcoming segwit? Or just a normal move in the market in which is the up and down of the price?? Is it ok to hold bitcoins in the exchanger? Can you help me???

I think btc do not know segwit so bitcoin down just because the normal market price is not always expensive, at any time bitcoin can be cheap,
Who said so? Bitcoins are never ever going to be cheap again. They have embarked on a new journey of success and no matter how frequently people post about the death of bitcoins bla bla, nothing bad is going to happen to bitcoins. In fact, such posts will make them more popular.
Kind of agree with that. Segwit launched another phase it bitcoin's existence that probably would shoot it way on top of the market. Price dips would always be there, but it's not gping to be as significant as to make btc price go below 4k. There's a pattern here and the only way bitcoin is going would up from here.

Holding Bitcoin now is very good at the right wallet, but if it is in an online wallet, not a good idea.

On the other hand, depending on the amount or quantity of Bitcoin you are holding, u can use it to purchase altcoins and wait for it price increase.

I agree with this opinion, yes of course storing bitcoin in online wallet is very risky but you can also save in offline, but if offline whether the balance of bitcoin can be manipulated?
Holding bitcoins in online wallets is risky but not that much. If you keep visiting your wallets and on weekly or fortnightly change their passwords, no one is going to hack them. Offline wallets are safer than online ones because there is no risk of getting hacked. I am using offline wallet too.

if your hold coin is top to 20 in cryptomarket which is good for a longterm if you can hold for your future just hold you disregard the hard forks that you should excite that would not necessarily downgrade the service of a coin if you buy a high price just hold just because the price of coins even increases even if bitcoin. If you are studying trading analysis you believe that because a profit is knowledge is a good investment to yourself

Yes this is trur, and now if you hold some currency I think it has a small profit even there's a segwit happened on august 1. This is because most of the user are choosiing to involved in crypto-currency because they they think if this currency will success in the future it gives hefty profit. Well, first need allot of knowledge to make a good decision making incase of some hindrances.

segwit may be the main reason for this price movement,It is not safe to keep your coins on an exchange on 1st Aug (or even a few days after that). See this:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/august-1-bip148-preparedness-2017191
Yes, I agreed that Segwit is the main reason of the movement change of the price value of bitcoin. Even for a years past, it is really not advisable too keep any coins in the exchange site platform even there is an that has been done this past August 1 2017, and nothing's happen instead bitcoin became more higher.
Well this might not be true. I think that nothing had effect the market price of Bitcoin so far. Its market value is continuously increasing with each passing dayand is helping the investors to multiply what they owe.

Indeed, you are correct dude! If bitcoin price value increased it is because the demand of the investors and patronizers of bitcoin was very aggressive. Therefore the volatility is also way of chance for the traders whether they buy or sell their coins. That's what I think bout and perception about it.

Some of us who were not afraid of loosing our money left it with exchanger like poloniex and fortunately we were all compensated by bitcoin cash. Bitcoin cash double our bitcoin value with poloniex which can be easily converted to bitcoin and transfer to individuals wallet. I believe it is a risk worthwhile despite all the warning that one may lose his or her money.

Its ok to hold bitcoins in the exchange itself but we must also see whether that exchange supports BCC and will issue new BCC coins as per the amount of BTC or not.Otherwise, the same situation would happen to investors like investors who held their bitcoins in kraken exchange and now abusing it for not giving BCC coins. But kraken had already said that they would not support BCC.

Storing your coins in exchanges is a risky thing. Dont you heard the news about btc-e? or other exchanges that had an issue recently? Your money cant be refund to you once it lost in the exchange? Better way to treat exchanges as itself, use it only as trading site not a wallet. Then after you done trading transfer it to your wallet that holds your private key.
I second your thought. Currently no exchange is safe for storing your precious coins especially bitcoins which are quite expensive at the moment. Even after the news about security problems of the exchanges, it would be a silly mistake to save coins there. The best option is to store them in the wallets.
But if you store them in your could wallet, you will miss opportunity trading Bitcoin/Altcoin, unless when you just want holding in long time and not use it for investment. I think this issue can fix when have Decentralization Exchange for trader and holder.

Yes it is ok to hold coins in their own wallet because there are many problems that the exchanger may be faced when they are running and also more attack in the website security that can be happened in the exchanger

The result was so obvious, segwit did not have any effect on the bitcoin value. At present, bitcoin is in a terrible value. I do not know of any impact, however, I am satisfied with it.

The case of BTCe is a different case, a money laundering case. Not a matter of asset security, but a personal matter. There's no reason to generalize all exchangers going bankrupt like BTCe, that's not fair. There are still many good exchangers and we are protected to keep our money there.

Storing your coins in exchanges in not a risky thing it was risky when first august was not held not it's held not it is not any risky anymore so I would like to say that you should go for investing and save your coins into exchanges if you are still afraid to save on online exchanges then you should go for the previews of people on online exchanges now a days.

Falling or dropping the price value of different altcoins or bitcoin is just a normal situation in trading industry.
Now about your question regarding holding your bitcoin in the exchange site platform, that would be fine as long as the balance is not a huge amount, even you know the the private key, or security it is still not safe, its just my opinion only. Maybe if the exchange is like Bittrex, Poloniex, or bitcoinwisdom, kraken and others you trusted it, well that would depend on you.
Fluctuations are the essence of crypto market. This is because of fluctuations that prices pump too much. Fluctuations are the real cause behind the buying and selling of coins. There’s nothing to be worried about unsteady crypto market. As far as keeping bitcoins at exchangers is concerned, I will suggest you to keep them in some offline wallet. But if you really want to keep them at exchanger, kindly check out the security provided by the respective exchange.

- It was just a panic sell from newbie traders with fear of possible hardfork during segwit activation which is now over.
- Yes it is normal move so you should just hold your bitcoins tightly
- Holding bitcoin in exchange platforms is risky, you better hold them in electrum or paper wallet and if you can afford hardware wallet provide ultimate security.

HODL if you don't have such as financial problem, buy when dump/low and just still Hold it until problem came just pinch some in your hold but don't convert it all  Grin The more you have the better will be your profit. Then go for stocks or business in life that may help you a lot somehow can be lifetime investment. Don't set aside you coins in exchange, it may eat your money because some exchange are doing shit to just scam people.
What a good suggestion! I know you are thinking about buy when the price dump then sell it when price increase. The logic of the cryptocurrency, by doing that you can earn a lot of buying and selling of bitcoin. In bitcoin, they're implementing patience is a virtue because if you wait until the price high then this is the time to sell your bitcoin with a good amount.

Don't hold your Bitcoin in an exchanger. move them to blockchain or any other wallet which has private near to you. Hold your Bitcoin bro, don't sell them with cheap rate.

Well, right now it's still a lot of popping out someone who was spreading the issue that might not ever happen. Because right now it's a lot of people who still have the desire to get a lot of bitcoin in lower prices, because it is 5 years price bitcoin will be at a minimum price of $5000. So they don't want to miss a thereto, the holding is the way the best and we should always be sure and wait

I think the market is down because of the issue of split chains that create panic, but now the forum admins there are saying chain split is a small possibility but no one knows later, it would be better not to keep bitcoin in the exchanger when segwit.

Thats true just hodl if planning for an earning good. But currently the bitcoin price is increasing and I dont know if still there will be a downtrend will happen before aug1. Moreover, for now I just hold and I think there will be a bright future may happen soon.
i am sure that there will be no such a bad effect of the 1st August on the price of bitcoin, i am sure that the price of bitcoin will continue increase even before 1st August and will continue increase after 1st August also.
Did you guys heard about the rumours recently?
That the split looks like won't happened as most miner agreed on segwit .
And that's what makes the current market bounce back heading to the next level of bitcoin price! Keep holding no doubt!

I would prioritize doing a hold on the wallet. Because we will not know what will happen after Segwit, the bitcoin market is still unpredictable. If you want to secure the bitcoin you have then doing hold will make you less affected, you can still speculate that the bitcoin price will still be the same as what you see today.

If you're doubted, it's better if you would choose to convert it into dollar currency avialable in exchanger. This is someyhing safer and less expensive way of preventing be involved in the market of bitcoin.

If you carry worries about the safety of exchanges for holding bitcoins, never trust them. Try to use offline wallets to be in safe side. Exchanges can't guarantee to split your bitcoins in case of hard split.

Both, the reason make the price of crypto are falldown 50-400% if compare few months ago are by SegWit2x and the correction price in crypto market by whale. We are in bearish trend, I suggest you hold Bitcoin in exchange now, don't try margin and sell now not good price

What did you said man? Why suggest to hold bitcoin in exchange? So you can sell at the higher peak before soft fork? Poor decisions obviously, do not put your bitcoin into exchanges, withdraw it and secure the private keys, don't worry because bitcoin price will rise again as we have seen today, it rebound and recover.
Cryptocurrencies prices declined before due to some people spreading misleading information about chain split and fud about crash.
But, as long as you believe in bitcoin, then it wouldn't be problem. Just make sure you are ready for the next day when segwit2x will lock-in and bitcoin price skyrocket again.

No. It is not OK to hold the Bitcoins in the exchanges. Because if a chain split occurs (although the chances are quite low), the exchange has the power to decide which chain you want to go for. They will select a chain for you, and you will lose coins from the other chain.

The current situation prevailing in the market is obviously on account of the coming August 1 news because most of the people fear they might lose all of their money but there's no need to panic and it's not going to be the same for longer I think normalcy will return to market very soon in mid August. So be positive and don't panic sell that's the best advice one may offer you at least for now.

I suggest to hold your bitcoin, that is the best thing that we can do. We need to wait the proper timing of selling bitcoin, due to unpredictable fluctuation of bitcoin price in the market.

This is definitely due to the fears brought about by the possible segwit activation. Though I think it recovered due to the fact that a lot of people bought at really cheap rates and they seized the opportunity to do so. Now those who bought at $1,800 are 30% richer just in a day. Fears and panic really drops the price and people just buy at really low prices and profits from this.

There will be no problem if you store your bitcoin in blockchain, because the blockchain uses private key, so there will be no problem if you keep it there for a segment

The market does not act alone it's the attitude of the people even the population here makes up the market and what they feel equally reflect in the market whether segwit or not but now its segwit and the effect is expected to hold still until market participants feel otherwise.
Exactly, the price on market really control by mentality of trader, some factors by whales created will helps this happens happening strong and fast. So, keep your calm always best rules need remember anytime
I agree with you. You have given genuine reasons for rise and fall of bitcoin values. Crypto market fluctuations are ultimately controlled by investors. The mindsets of traders do play an important role in deciding the value of bitcoins.

In addition, big whales do play their role in unpredictable fluctuations of the market. It’s quite simple that if whales are selling off bitcoins at low prices, values will go down automatically and vice versa.

I'm pretty sure it's because of segwit, when some people selling their bitcoins in a bulk, other people will following them. That's why the price of bitcoin going down so hard in the last 2 days. But it already okay for now, the price going back to $2200+ per coin. Just remember to move all your coins to better wallet, don't hold it on exchanger.
It is always good practice not to hold big amount of bitcoins withe exchangers. We must move them where we are able to export privatekeys. But this time it is emphasized for some other reasons, still it is a good practice to withdraw the money after finishing off trades for a day.

I don't think saving bitcoin over the exchanger is good idea. Segwit2x is stuff which will split the technology into two different work zone and your exchanger will have to support only one of it. If your bitcoin doesn't fall under that system then you might loose it. You could just save your bitcoins to wallet like cold storage and hold there only for better safety. Doing nothing with the coin is advisable on first august to keep it out of vulnerabilities of loosing.

It's a panic sell environment being prepared by some market people who want to scare everyone with the fear of being dumped on or before August 1 and buy your coins cheaper than ever. And about exchanges, no it's not safe to put your bitcoins on any third party websites or exchanges as mentioned by theymos. I think Core would be the best choice ATM or you can buy an altcoin and keep your coins in the exchanges until this gets settled (obviously till August 1).

Markets will not fluctuate heavily without big reasons. Segwit must be the reason for recent times fluctuations, but it is highly predicted as per it is making investors to get panic to remove their investments. So, you never need to worry on this.
But you must move off your bitcoins from exchange before august 1st into the wallets where you have access to your privatekeys.

Without bitcoin we're all poor and beggar on the streets.
I can suggest you and theymos to keep your coins in the only place they could be held, unless anyone here knows a secret way other than private keys to hold bitcoins?

SegWit has been at the heart of bitcoin's scaling . On that network, miners have been hesitant to support the change for technical and political reasons, and as such, users have been calling to test the technology on litecoin as a way to determine whether concerns are valid.Since SegWit could potentially pave the way for technologies that expand the value proposition of cryptocurrencies, the move toward accepting the upgrade has reignited excitement around the normally less-popular cryptocurrency.

No. Transfer it on any wallet that you control your private keys other than web exchanges. Just in case of a split, still you have control your coins and can decide what will you do after. And price decrease surely is caused by a FUD and speculations about what will happened on bitcoin price after August 1st.

It's up to you if you will ride the speculation or will remained positive that bitcoin price will increase later on .

Well the fall has being big of approx 500$. So it would have being clever to sell at 2500$ and buy again back at 2000$. You could have gained 500$ on just 1 btc rather than just holding btc. And also the panic selling will be happening considering 1st Aug so prices will be dipping and you got another chance to buy at lower price in coming time.

No one should be holding coins in an exchange in the most perfect of conditions unless they're for immediate sale. I don't think a contentious fork is anywhere near a possibility.

However Bitmain does intend to create a new forked coin on August 1st by the looks of things with a different name. That being the case you may not get these forked coins unless you control your private keys. Another reason to get off the exchanges.

Holding Bitcoin now is very good at the right wallet, but if it is in an online wallet, not a good idea.

On the other hand, depending on the amount or quantity of Bitcoin you are holding, u can use it to purchase altcoins and wait for it price increase.
Bitcoins investors should hold their bitcoins right now as the bitcoin bubbles is bursting out, i thought it will gonna go down by next month. Maybe it is because of the SegWit event at this upcoming August 1st. I'm still hoping that it will rise after the August 1st event.

- It is just an outcome of panic among bitcoin investors who have bought bitcoin for first time at peak price.
- We can consider this as correction on price after a huge pump, which is normal
- No it is not ok to hold bitcoins in exchanger, just hold your bitcoins in paper wallet or hardware wallet if not than electrum wallet could be good choice. Just transfer those bitcoin to exchange platform when you need to sell them or buy other altcoins with it.
that is right,  i think the prsent panic is only because of the 1st August issues. but i am hopeful that this issues will solve very soon. and the price will once again start increasing. i thinnk holding bitcoin in hardware wallet will be more secure as to keep them in exchang, and specially for those people who have a good amount of bitcoin i think they should keep their bitcoin in a more safest place if they want to continue saving their bitcoins.

Please read the thread created by theymos which clearly states where should you put you bitcoin. He also mentioned that it is not advisable to send your bitcoin in this period to any platforms or these transactions might get lost as the technology would be running with two different currency and we will never know the produce of our transaction whether it is bitcoin x or y. The thread follows here https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/august-1-bip148-preparedness-2017191. All the best.

I wouldn't advise to exchange your bitcoin to buy altcoins. Altcoins for me are much more volatile than bitcoin, you can suddenly lose as much as 80% of you choose the wrong coin when investing in an altcoin. If you have bitcoin, then simply hold on it and just wait till everything settles down after Aug 1.

Don't put all your bitcoin in a online wallet because you don't have control of the private keys, just transfer to Electrum which for me is one of the trusted wallets out there.

What will be waiting to increase? Bitcoin or the altcoin? We all knowghat these two are somehow connected to each other, I am not sure but, when the Bitcoin experience a crash, the other digital currencies crash too. I think it ia because the price of most of the altcoins are based on the Bitcoins.

first, bitcoin prices will down from now on until a day or two days before 1 august,
it will go down deeper from here point, but it will retrace again and same thing will happen continiously until we reach the big support and the day of the judgement.if you want to hear my opinion here is it :
1.Don't put your Bitcoin in any exchange because you don't have private keys but them, plus we don't know what are their choice.
2.How about spending your Bitcoin and convert it into multiple altcoin (a lot of potential altcoin out there and likely they will make their debut after this
   drama end).

Reason ;
1.I don't need to explain it because you already know, you will lose your coin if you don't hold it by yourself.
2.Even if Segwit fail and price drop significantly,it will recover in coming year or so.but altcoin will get pumped so hard this time, don't you think it's a good time for maximize your opportunity?

so,chose it wisely and don't regret it for the rest of your life.it may be simple, but it can change your life.

It has been advised here and there multiple times to not hold any bitcoin in a wallet that you have no control over. Simply because you don't have access to your private key. No private key, no Bitcoin. It's available these days because the August 1 is coming, but you shall keep in mind this advice all the days of the year. You can keep a small amount in an exchange for example for your day trading, or in an online wallet for your daily transactions, etc.

the uptrend for the market has come, in short theres been a great rise thus there will be a correction which is what we are experiencing right now, its normal yes.

However for the segwit it'll be no, it is the news about the potential split that affects the price negatively on the contrary if segwit got activated the price will rise.

Another no again, you will certainly lose you bitcoins if you will kept them on exchange if ever the split happens because you don't have control over those privete keys and we

still don't know which side will win. Better read this guides about this, just search for them.

Both, the reason make the price of crypto are falldown 50-400% if compare few months ago are by SegWit2x and the correction price in crypto market by whale. We are in bearish trend, I suggest you hold Bitcoin in exchange now, don't try margin and sell now not good price
