So I am going to be taking a roadtrip in early December. These are a few of the places I will be passing through or staying at for a couple days. I'm just curious if anyone out there knows of some restaurants, eateries, retail outlets that accept BTC/LTC for payments.

I figured this would be a cool way to try and utilise crpto in day to day transactions. Google has been no help, mostly just points me to ATM's. I'm not interested in that or in loading up a card to convert to a FIAT payment. Ideally I see myself stopping at a restaurant, ordering up my food, paying and eating while it confirms. That or depending on the store picking up a few odds and ends. So far I saw an older article about a candy shop in Canmore I think accepts crypto, if so that's where some gifts will be bought.

Just thought this would be a fun twist on a roadtrip. I also won't bother loading much coin in my mobile wallet if there is next to no chance I'll be able to spend it.

Side note if you are in Canmore/Banff or Calgary and have Lift tickets for Sunshine Village(Big 3) at a discount rate, let me know.

It seems you are looking for physical stores which accept bitcoin. There won't be many.
You can also check out the online stores on the site https://www.spending-bitcoin.com  which contains good list of sites accepting bitcoins.

Well I made it to Canmore. I was so close to making this happen. The candy shop flat oit said no they don't accept BTC.
Matador would have accepted BTC they just needed a heads up you want to pay that way... because it's been so long.
I had planned on stopping there for dinner last night and maybe reaching out to some folks to grab a beer. Unfortunately we had a 4 hour vehicle breakdown-alternator. Then a good 1 1/2 thick fog delay so.

Still overall it was promising.

Welcome to Calgary! As far as I'm aware, we don't have many Bitcoin accepting retail stores/restaurants. Besides the two that were mentioned (and I'm not entirely sure they actually still accept it), the Electronics Recycling Association accepts Bitcoin if you're looking for some older refurbished computer hardware  Tongue
Thanks, I'm not there yet. 2 weeks and I'll be rolling through. It's been around 10 years since the last time I passed through on the way to Banff. I will definitely look int the ERA as I will be looking for a cheap Laptop, my daughter needs it for this Coder Dojo program the local library runs. Found out the one we were using no longer charges and isn't worth repair  Tongue

I have seen the Costco thing and will look into it, they say they are available in Manitoba as well, but I'm going to call to be sure. Might get in late as we pass through Calgary so I don't want to hinge on being able to get there before close.

If you have a Costco membership, they should have packs of 3 Adult lift tickets for $230 (and I believe it includes extra coupons).

Yeah I know a few Canadians on the forum, not irl or personally. Just seemed weird to ask them pointedly, as some people could take that as trying to narrrow down where they live. So if people share that info with me cool, if they share info about places they found on their travels awesome too. I'm not to keen on checking out a lot of other forums, or boards- recent poor experience just makes it not worth my time. Figured there would be a good chance if there are any shops that fit this description, someone here might know. If not I do have 2 so far that I might be able to try and out that would be pretty cool.
I am surprised at how few I'm finding though, unfortunately I think it's fallout from 2018,2019 prices. A lot of these businesses probably jumped in during the ATH run-up and might have felt burned by the decreases afterwards. We'll see how it plays out, and if I buy something cool with BTC, I'll spread the word.

Edit: Just to ad, PM me if you have a suggestion but don't want to share any info publicly.

As far as I remember Darkstar is from canada (if I amn't wrong) and he may knows.
Last year I was in Canada and personally couldn't find word Bitcoin anywhere despite the fact that I was almost digging whole city. But consider my one advice: Even if you find restaurant which accepts bitcoin payments, don't enter directly, better to eat normal food and pay with cash/card.
What about to additionally post on tripadvisor? reddit? Quora?

Thanks for that, I saw the same post but missed the Matador Pizza and Steakhouse. It definitely might be a contender, on one leg of the journey depending on our timing as we pass through. Good advice to contact them first, would suck to put in some extra leg work and not be able to use BTC. Hell with delivery I could work something out where they meet us as we pass through the City, lol.

I also try to find any store with help of Google, and maybe one thing that can help you is post from Reddit, where two locations are mentioned in Calgary, Burnaby Coffe shops&Matador Pizza&Steakhouse. However, before visiting these locations, it would be wise to contact them, it is possible that Bitcoin is no longer a payment option.
