there are talks the boxing might be removed by IOC in Olympics.

They also tried to remove wrestling as an olympic sport although it is not nearly as judging intensive as boxing.

I suspect there are political motivations for it.

The type of personalities associated with boxing and wrestling might be described as representing a "rugged individual" demographic. They're individuals like Conor McGregor who went from being on state welfare to becoming a multi millionaire within 5 years. These are the types of personalities sports like boxing and wrestling produce. The value system of boxing/wrestling is if someone works hard and can outsmart their opponents there is little limit to what they can achieve in life.

All of the perspectives and values I mentioned could clash with modern day political rhetoric. And perhaps that is the real reason behind campaigns to remove sports like boxing and wrestling from the olympics.

Clearly a robbery and a lot of people in one of the Facebook group I am part of sees it the way I see it, they are saying that it is pure BS that GGG should still be the champion. Harold Lederman even gave majority of the rounds to Golovkin and I am on his side there are many instances where Canelo got shook with the power punches GGG have landed not to mention Golovkin made it look like he is the counter puncher between them. Golovkin clearly didn't deserve his first loss and he didn't deserve to lose his championship belts either.

Golden Boy wanted the Mexican to win at any cost, and you need to remember that yesterday it was the Mexican independence day. Had they awarded the match to GGG, then there would have been riots. Just admit it. Professional boxing is becoming like WWF. The results are known even before the fight starts.

How can this controversy affect the upcoming Manny vs Money 2?

Boxing is a dying sport. Vladimir Klitschko is making far less today than Mike Tyson made in the 1980s and 1990s without adjusting for decades of inflation. Boxing promoters like Oscar De La Hoya are beginning to creep into mixed martial arts promoting due to the lack of stars in boxing. AFAIK Don King, Bob Arum and other big name historical boxing promoters don't even bother with the sport anymore.

I could easily see Manny vs Money 2 being like another GGG vs Canelo. Vegas judges have robbed Manny in the past vs Timothy Bradley. Vegas also shows a considerable amount of favortism towards Floyd Mayweather whenever he fights.

Floyd versus Manny 2 will be another hyped but boring fight. Why would the fans want to be scammed again? Especially boxing fans who are also fans of the cryptospace. We already have seen too many scams for our trained eyes to see that Floyd Manny 2 as another one hehehehe.

In any case, I won the bet but I am not happy.

Clearly a flawed match-up for me since the start. I may be wrong here but i think when you are the one depending your belt, your should be at the left side of the banner like this, GGG vs Alvarez. Then why Alvarez vs GGG? Is it that GGG don't have a solid fan base and Canelo is more popular than him?

I thought I'm the one who thinks that its a clear robbery again for Golovkin. But it looks like all boxing fans in this forum sees the same. Well they wanted Golovkin to go stateside, and now when the stage is all set, they steal a win from him. Perhaps another angle is that they don't want Golovkin to hold the records for successful defenses of Miiddleweight belt, hehehe. Congrats to Alvarez but for me Golovkin is the real winner here.

Damn, I lost my bet, actually I was updating this thread with some of the results but I deleted it and waited for the main event. However, I feel always and wasn't able to watch it so I can't comment. I just read some articles that it was a close fight but majority thinks that GGG won the fight. Boxing is pretty f** up now, last week I watched Danny Garcia vs Shawn Porter and I saw the Garcia winning, however judges gave it to Porter to became the new championship, it was like volume punching vs accuracy, I guess the judges saw volumes (with poor %) the clear victor. If  there's so much uproar about this fight, I'm sure that Golden Boy is brewing another fight to make more money.

Golovkin was the best boxer out there. But he couldn't win because of two reasons. First of all, he comes from a relatively unknown country, where WBC doesn't have much of a commercial interest. And secondly, today was the Mexican independence day. There was no way the judges were going to award the match to GGG. Even if GGG had knocked down Canelo, he would be having less points on the judges's scorecard.

I don't know if we can call the sports dying, but if everyone is not aware, there are talks the boxing might be removed by IOC in Olympics, the reason - boxing judges are biased or to say the least are being paid. So if this happens, then we might see a declined of the sports. Similar to what we seen today, it looks like something from behind works his magic.

I could easily see Manny vs Money 2 being like another GGG vs Canelo. Vegas judges have robbed Manny in the past vs Timothy Bradley. Vegas also shows a considerable amount of favortism towards Floyd Mayweather whenever he fights.

Floyd is from Las Vegas, so I'm assumed that they love him there and that's why he always wanted to fight in his hometown.

This is yet another controversial decision from the judges. They awarded the match to Canelo, when it was GGG who was winning. Canelo's shots were not accurate and I am sure that there will be a lot of flak in the social media for this judgement.
This is killing the boxing business. Everything was manipulated. They want Canelo to win the fight pretty badly. That's the advantage of centralized business, they can always do want they want  Cheesy.

Golovkin is more aggressive but Alvarez is much smarter but what i saw with Alvarez that he is getting slower from his previous performance and i am rooted Golovkin for the win, their last match was a controversial and i hope their rematch will truly prevail the real victory.

The added weight may have added problems with Canelo in the beginning because he was a bit slower. Or maybe the steroids allegations is true? You may never know. Well the first match was really controversial but this time, either one of them can be seen as a clear winner. I will also go with Golovkin here, this is his natural weight class and he is the heavier puncher between the two.

I didnt rewatch Canelo vs GGG 1 which is how you really see who won in a close match, so in the moment when I saw it I wasn't that shocked that it was a draw. I think people just wanted a winner and a lot of people became pissed off at a draw.. specially GGG fans because they saw his perfect record get an 1 on it.. but would need to rewatch.

This second time I think GGG has made the right adjustments and he will win, will put 100 bucks on it just to spice it up.
I am not a fan of those two boxers but i thought GGG won that first fight since the volume of punches and the hit favors GGG. We have different perspective of the fight and that is just the way i saw it. Hope their second fight won't go the distance so they would  not create a problem for the judges.

@krach. I predict Canelo will win by points. He will make small changes from the first fight, having tested Golovkin's chin, and will not be as punchy anymore, I reckon.

I hope that this won't go to the judges verdict and GGG will knock out cold Alvarez. This fight would be just a formality to announced that GGG was the winner of the first fight.

I haven't watched the entire 1st fight or paid much attention to either of their careers.

Offhand I have GGG. I don't think Canelo can match GGG's pace. Whatever happens, GGG should throw a significantly higher volume of punches in comparison to what Canelo can match with his limited cardio. Punch stat numbers alone should put Canelo at a distinct disadvantage.

Canelo doesn't appear to have power in his punches enough to turn the tide of the fight. We saw this in Canelo's fight with Julio Chavez Jr. Canelo landed many clean punches without hurting Chavez Jr. The same might be said of GGG. Over, decision or the fight going the distance could be worthwhile props to play. Although like I said I haven't paid much attention to either guy.

If Canelo is using steroids, his cardio could suffer for it over the long term as PED's are often known to damage the body's organs in a way which reduces cardio capacity. This can be seen in the unfortunate history of many WWE/WWF pro wrestlers who suffer premature heart failures from steroids damaging their heart and cardiovascular systems.

Adelaide Byrd and the judging panel may be the last major factor determining how events will play out. Manny Pacquiao and many others have been mis-scored in Vegas before in poor judging decisions. GGG being denied victory in the 1st fight sadly isn't the lone exception.

UFC allowed its own reputation to be tarnished, by allowing Adalaide Byrd to return as a judge. Her scoring during UFC 222 was even worse. Just confirms my feeling that UFC doesn't care about the fans at all. How can they allow someone so biased to be a judge?

1.  UFC is not BOXING      ROFL

2. The UFC, or other organizations do not decide who the judges are, the Athletic Commission

Here is an artilce to shine some light on boxing judges

http://www.realclearlife.com/sports/boxing-judging-works-las-vegas/

Regarding MMA and the UFC , they had to conform to the same scoring system as boxing in order for Athletic Commissions to give them licenses.
There are some new rules that the UFC has created that some Athletic Commissions have approved , this allows for more 10-8 rounds and I think
that is good.

@Jannn - its Adalaide Byrd, the judge who score a whooping 118-110 in favor of Canelo. She made a lot of controversial scoring not just in boxing but UFC as well.

If Golovkin will still be able to take the haymakers and power punches of Canelo Alvarez while also giving some solid punches of his own I think GGG will now win this time. The problem I see here is Alvarez' punches might be more powerful this time and GGG's chin might not take it anymore as he almost got knowdown during tge first fight. Gennady Golovkin really needs to win this fight as settling for a tie won't identify who is the best in their division.

@Vishnu.Reang - I say the rematch will be just as the same as the first one, so I don't see any KO happening, although its good to see GGG battered Canelo to a UD.

@krach - we might see some odds change/switch as we get closer to the fight date.

I know that Golovkin is already 36 years old, but I have a feeling that he is going to win this match by KO versus Canelo Alvarez. A lot of experts, including Lennox Lewis and Terence Crawford are predicting a GGG victory as well.

Many of the previous matches between Canelo vs Golovkin judged that Golovkin deserved to win the match, but the judge's decision was a legitimate match, after the match, Canelo had not had the chance to go back to the ring after receiving a ban, Canelo had the chance to win points from Golovkin because he would play smarter for 12 rounds compared to Golovkin, he didn't change much

Personally I'm going to have to say GGG has got this one easily. Last time he was completely robbed by Amber Byrd or whatever her name was, who somehow scored Canelo massively in the lead (blind, paid-off or heavily biased?) GGG is just a beast, so is Canelo but I really don't think Golovkin will let it go to a decision again.

I still got GGG. The first one was closed but every boxing fans knows that GGG was the winner. Canelo started slow and GGG was the aggressor and he closed the ring and Canelo doesn't have the answer specially when he was corned. He made a rally in the championship round but for me its not enough to overcome the lead of GGG. So I don't know how (judge) Byrd scored the fight 10 of the 12 round 118-110 edge for Canelo. Plus there's controversy of banned substance, and alvarez blamed on the tainted meat he eat in Mexico. LOL. Anyways, I will beat for GGG again, gonna be the same, UD or SD.
