Is there a reason to only fill up your 1x pci slots... I have three but I would like to still be able to game on this computer. Should I only fill up 1 16x slot and then run the other cards on 1x with risers? new to this and did google but didn't see this addressed

Nope, the two 5850s are in 16x(running at 8x) slots. I could try running one 5850 in a 1x slot... I use this computer to game but don't currently have them in Crossfire cause BF3 doesn't play well.

Do you have all the cards using the risers?

So... I spoke a little too soon. It didnt boot recognizing the card. I have the card plugged in the second highest pci slot between the two 5850s and it won't even post bios. The monitor doesnt turn on from standby.

I have since upgraded my powersupply to an 800watt corsair. Made a dummy plug for the 5770. and tried the two available pci-e 1x slots to no avail. I'm assuming it is the adapters I'm using at this point or the board itself.

Any suggestions though would be great.

I moved it to another pci-e 1x slot and it worked(I really thought I'd tried this earlier).

So... I can get it to boot now. But when it says loading operating system I get an error Saying disk failed to boot please insert system disk and press enter.

Scratch that.... Sata cable was loose... I'm posting windows now. Lets see what happens.

Thanks guys!

I have the same motherboard with Athlon II 270u, 2 6870, 1 5850, 1 5970, and 1 5670 running without issues but I use a Corsair AX1200 PSU though. Before I bought the AX1200, I used 2 600w PSU to power the rig minus the 5970.

Is your CPU overclocked? Try running the 2 5850s powered by the 2nd PSU.

What card is the monitor plugged into? - It will only show the POST on the 'highest' slot being used

Hey Guys,

I have two 5850s in my mining rig. My board is 890gpa-ud3h. I have two antec earthwatt powersupplies daisy chained. One is a 430 max 372 constant that runs the tower and one card. The other is a 350 constant that runs the second card.

I bought a couple of 1xto16x pci-e risers. It has two 16x pci-e slots and 3 1x pci-e slots.

When I try to add the 5770 to one of the 1x slots and second powersupply(there is enough amps to run both the 5850 and 5770) the computer will not post.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas? My next step may be to put one of the 5850s on a 1x riser and the 5770 on a 1x riser. Thinking it could be a bandwidth issue? But I still think it would post???

Thanks,
