you are a newbie so forget about adding a signature plus avatars are disabled by default rest you can easily edit by clicking on profile and under modify profile go to forum profile and information. Hope this will work

Newbs can't have signatures or at least links and bbcode in there. Are you sure you're clicking change profile at the bottom right once you've made the changes? There are restrictions and time limits for newbs but I don't think it should effect changing your gender and location etc.
