if you need them fast use a light client or a web wallet and import the private key of the address you sent the BTC.

Also if you want to use core(and I think that is the best way to keep your BTC secure, except paper wallet) wait for the blockchain to download.

Also here you have a link for BTC wallets.

https://www.cryptocompare.com/wallets/#/overview?f1=BTC

I would recommend security first.

I am operating off a shitty laptop and am not going to have enough space for the entire chain to download even if I tried.

bitref . com

do not use these unknown sites i suggest you only use popular online block explorers to check your balance. use blockchain.info blockr.com blocktrail.com

as for a solution if you don't want to continue running core in full mode, go to pruned mode (which i think should take 2 GB space) i have never done it myself so wait for someone else to explain it if you want to do this.

or you have another option to move to an SPV wallet like Electrum which will only need less than 50 MB download. just export your private key and sweep it in Electrum after you installed it.

Just  to verify: i run bitcoin core in pruned mode, as of today, it's using 2738380800 bytes on my disk (=~ 2.54 Gb).
You do have to download and verify all blocks, so pruned mode does not shorten the timeframe to sync your wallet, it only lessens the disk usage.

The easyest way to run core in pruned mode is to create a file bitcoin.conf and put in this line:
prune=600

On windows, the file usually resides in this path:
C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin

Wait for the blockchain to download/update.

If your Bitcoins do not appear after the blockchain has fully updated then you can start to worry and come back here for some help.

So recently i moved my bitcoins from my account on localbitcoins to bitcoin core on my computer. However it is still downloading the blockchain. I looked up my balance on https://bitref.com/ and it showed the correct amount of bitcoins that I have sent. I am operating off a shitty laptop and am not going to have enough space for the entire chain to download even if I tried. What is the solution to this, I have another computer downstairs (a Mac) and also have a external hard drive however it is very slow. Someone please help Huh Undecided
