please I paid a lot for the s3+ so how do I just reinstall the firmware and I'm terribly disabled and crippled and have no energy?  I don't get any echo from the serial-USB connection when I type into the putty window or the cursor doesn't type.  the controller board lights up red though on power on.

Did you make a ticket with bitmain?

It's weekend now but tomorrow if you do make a ticket they should get it.

I have everything configured with 115200, 8,1,n,xon/xoff and the adafruit cable connected to the male connector pins which were soldered to the board.  Do I change the settings somehow?
I am getting no echo when I paperclip jump the TX RX.

This is something there is not the greatest documentation of on the board.  There is some but I highly suggest putting in a ticket, they might even help via remote to your pc.

Anyways put in a ticket over here or bitmain and ask for help: https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us

well I got the one s3+ mining by flashing the cgminer at 441 GH/s!  but I still can't serial connect to the other s3+.  I tried paperclip jumping from TX-RX on the serial-USB raspberry cable but don't get any echo.  with some combination of connection of cables to the debug holes I can type but can't reset the controller though it has a red light.  maybe it's not fixable, it was mining fine until I powered off during firmware update.

I've opened 2 bitmain tickets and they tell me to serial connect with an adafruit cable.  I don't know if my cable is an actual adafruit or a copy.  so I'm not sure why I don't get echo when I type into putty or the window doesn't allow me to type.  when I connect RX and TX without ground to the s3+ I get a stream of nonsense text

Opening multiple tickets really will not help.  One ticket is better as it shows all the work in it.  Depending on you location bitmain does have a phone number for some countries.

But if your are honestly having that much trouble you might ask them about buying controller board.

Is this router going to work?  it does have a bridge mode.  I'm 4.0 in the US in mathematics/physics

Assured Superior 802.11n Wi-Fi Performance
2.4 GHz 11n (2x2) for superior performance and coverage

The ZyXEL AMG1312-T10B Wireless N ADSL2+ 4-port Gateway with USB features 802.11n technology to achieve data rates of up to 300 Mbps to provide stable, reliable wireless connections for high-speed data and multimedia delivery. The AMG1312-T10B is capable of eliminating dead zones and extends coverage, and it’s also backward compatible with any IEEE 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi certified device. The AMG1312-T10B supports multiple SSIDs with individual security and scheduling settings to facilitate different service levels for service providers.

Configurable EtherWAN for optimized, evolutionary services

The ZyXEL AMG1312-T10B Wireless N ADSL2+ 4-port Gateway with USB offers configurable EtherWAN by using an Ethernet LAN port as a WAN access interface.
For DSL network environments or infrastructures with FTTC/FTTB in combination with Ethernet, SP can deploy broadband services in different scenarios with the same device. Not just logistically optimized, the device also simplifies service deployment trainings and optimizes the CAPEX and OPEX for lower total cost of ownership to take advantage of the copper-to-fiber evolution.

Quality of Service (QoS) support

The ZyXEL AMG1312-T10B comes equipped with essential ATM QoS features. Service providers can freely design their QoS policies and prioritize mission-critical services such as IPTV and VoIP based on their service plans. This increases network efficiency and productivity that enable service providers to bring real multi-play services to the daily life of residential users.

Easy customization with ROM-D function

Service Providers need to have a quick, easy way to customize and manage different firmware versions before networking devices are distributed to fulfill specific requirements from different customers. The ZyXEL AMG1312-T10B features ROM-D to provide the flexibility for service providers to change default configuration settings easily through just uploading of a new customized configuration file.

Always-online, always-compatible alternative 3G connection

The ZyXEL AMG1312-T10B features optional 3G connectivity as a failover (or alternative) connection to 3G mobile broadband networks in case of DSL outage; with which Internet traffics will be temporarily routed through the user’s 3G dongle plugged into the USB port. All traffics will be switched back as soon as the regular broadband service becomes available again. It is also efficient to have instant Internet access in remote offices, activities outside of the offices or for occasions where DSL service is temporarily unavailable. The AMG1312-T10B works with most 3G dongles from mobile broadband SPs thanks to the latest 3G compatibility list and frequently revised patch file on the global Web site. Users can simply check and download the patch file to enable mobile broadband services immediately without upgrading the entire firmware of the gateway.

can someone please give me unrestricted posting?  I need to do this s3 serial-usb fix today and I'm bedridden and exhausted and foggy.  my lungs are really damaged and the doctors can't do anything

There is not restricted like it once was only letting you in beginner thread.  Only thing is you have to wait on time between post's with account (and cant have avatars yet, and sig is less).   But as far as posting it is just really waiting, and no way to skip this.

I just switched the WAN and WWAN to DHCP and now I can't find the miner??

I entered on the GUI, stratum+tcp://stratum.f2pool.com , professor21.adsfdg21 is this correct?
from a WIFI connection only it is showing 0.0 hash rate but 172 accepted on f2pool.  but you need to add an antenna or drill one to use WIFI and the connection could be bad?
the coins.co advised me to go to cex.io for some reason, I don't know if it's a better wallet.

so the antpool is the best and the solo pool?
I could connect via LAN but that's going to burn out my laptop

Changing network settings can be dangerous if you make a mistake.  If you did make it go to DHCP log into your router and see connected devices and try to find it in there by connecting to those IP's.

I like antpool better myself.  It has multiple US servers so works out well for my miners personally. It is a good pool and one I really like to use.  I can use PPLNS (0% Fee), or PPS (2.5% Fee).   So nice to have option.

But again you need to sign up on whatever pool you use to get your own username and worker.  Using the previous owners worker name will NOT mine for you it mines for other person.

With two I would look into a router that can connect to the wireless as a client and allow you to plug ethernet cords from the miners to it.

here are screenshots of the working s3 miner
http://s12.photobucket.com/user/ejhang/media/s1_zpsdubaonsn.png.html" target="_blank">http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a204/ejhang/s1_zpsdubaonsn.png" border="0" alt="s1 photo s1_zpsdubaonsn.png"/>

On the config page as long as you saved and applied then even if the that pool information is wrong it still should show up on the miner status page but they would be dead ...the status is not showing anything? The reset button would have defaulted back to Bitmains pool information also...not sure what is going on.

sorry I'm crippled from lung problems and have no energy and lost my hearing.  I had the pools configured like this but I couldn't add workers on f2pool or cex.io (by the way I should mask the passwords from the previous owner).  was the worker name correct?
So I was getting no mining on the graphs or activity, just a bit from faucets.

ghash.io is showing this and I wrote in uk1.ghah.io:3333 as the pool and up100134865.xxx on my s3 config screen

Stratum Servers: uk1.ghash.io:3333 or us1.ghash.io:3333. Please use -o stratum+tcp://uk1.ghash.io:3333 in your command line. You should name your workers up100134865. (e.g. up100134865.worker1). Workers are added automatically, you can use any/empty password. The minimum stratum difficulty is 16. Support: [email protected]

You need to sign up to the pools and get your own worker name.  If your using the one it came with chances are it's mining the old owner.  Personally I'm not a huge GHASH fan but if that is the one your wanting to mine on you need to sign up on their site.

Worker passwords do not matter on most pools they can be random and have no effect.  (Some do use them for custom configuration)

is the bitmain pool the best, I noticed this pool has 0% fees

I'm trying f2 pool but does it need a country prefix, how do I enter the command line and can it mine from WIFI from WAN or WWAN connection or do I need a router with minimum speed like 10mb/s to maximize speed?

well bitmain gave me a great response and told me now to reprogram and reinstall the firmware with a serial-USB connection and TTFP like solarwinds.  But how do I connect the 4pin connector to the controller board, do I unscrew the board?

I'm going to do the repair tomorrow with the raspberry connector.  I was on f2 pool and cex.io and coins.co but couldn't add workers.  I need to get a router with bridge capability?  the s3s can't connect through wifi with WAN/WWAN?

Is there a way other than Dogie's on this site to do the factory reset?  I turned on the machine waited a while then pressed the reset button for 15 seconds waited a few minutes pressed it again and then powered off and powered back on.

http://www.adafruit.com/product/954
I'm not sure how to connect this raspberry serial connector.  Do I power it off first and then power it on and enter the commands from ttfp solarwinds?

here's a picture of the controller board, do I plug in the serial into the connector below the blue square?

how do I get the worker configured on cex.io or f2pool or another good pool?  I show internet activity but no hashing on the control panel.  they also have this activate currency feature which I pressed on cex.io but how do you reverse that?

Bitmain has their own pool antpool. - https://www.antpool.com/home.htm   It's easy to sign up to and help on connecting here is help - https://www.antpool.com/support.htm

If you have trouble just post a screenshot of your pool configuration and we can try to help you out on it. You will need to sign up first and register a worker name.

is there anyway to fix this by connecting the s3 to a router??

this is such a terrible disastrous loss for me and I'm in the hospital and need to pay for hospital bills.  I've worked 48 hours and can't even get the units mining
there's a red light on the controller board that's constant and the red light on the outside of the box is also flashing.

what do I need to do to the 3 pin connector at a 90 degree angle? and what are the putty commands?
"putty using 115200,8,n,1,xon-xoff,
connected tx to rx and made sure it echoed"

Sorry to hear about all your problems.  On the one that was turned off during update sadly it sounds like it is bricked.  So it will either need the serial to usb cable to try fixing (not guaranteed to fix but does on some cases).  Other option is contact Bitmain via ticket - https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us .  Tell them in ticket about turning off during update and chances are it will be a RMA and they can tell you cost aswell.

thanks!!!  I've tried pushing the reset button with the cover off but it doesn't help.  I was several minutes into the firmware upgrade and it was flashing then I powered it off because I thought it had froze.

if I have to how do I remove the controller board and send it to bitmain?

https://bitcoin-forums.net/index.php?topic=775662.0

here's a risky s1 software fix, can I do this with only a serial-usb connector, I don't see the serial port on the controller card and don't know how to modify the connector and how to proceed with the software reset?

ok I tried the reset button with the cover off to no avail still.  On the LAN screen it is transmitting data but not receiving.  Maybe if I configured the LAN network somehow?  You have to be careful not to damage the rest button, it only depresses about 0.5-1mm.  I'll post the GUI/config screens soon

this is the LAN screen for the non working s3 with the firmware problem

On the serial to usb it's a adapter you would need to order online.  Most likely you will not have one.  As far where it goes there is a spot on the S3 controller board all 3 pins fit in.  If you have to ship it in to bitmain yes it is easy to get the controller off.

Can you take a screenshot of your pool config page? Host the screenshot online there are lots of services to do this.  It would be easier to troubleshoot this page this way.

I just turned the power off on one miner during firmware upgrade.  Is there anyway to save it with a serial-usb connector or router connection?  Shipping it to Bitmain would be expensive maybe not a great solution for me.
yeah it's showing 0s for the 3 pools

So I can't just take the cover off and reset it and it will restore the firmware/software to the original programming?

You have two different issues.

First the one you flashed and turned off during chances are it is bricked.  It is possible a serial to usb cable and running software can fix it (possible not guaranteed).  As far as shipping if they make you do it you would not ship whole unit but just controller (most likely).  You can start a ticket to see how much - https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us

The other you did not flash and turn off can you go into more details of it?  Do you have access to the GUI via IP?   Saying  "yeah it's showing 0s for the 3 pools" sounds like you are able to access it via network still.

If you can access it via browser via IP there is really not a reason for reset.  It would be an issue in settings chances are.  Aurel has a good idea on screenshot.  Can you post your mining configuration page and also networking setup page.  I think between those two if we do truly have access to the miner via IP chances are fix lies there.

You can still try the reset button depending where it was on the firmware update?

Not sure what you mean showing 0's for the pool .... can you get to the status page on the miner? post a screen shot if you can. I am wondering if you have the pool information and workers info right?

I just turned the power off on one miner during firmware upgrade.  when it powers up the front fan is not working.  and the red LED light is blinking only and I can't get it to show up on ipscan or access the config/control panel.  does the s3 restore back to original firmware if I reset it?

Is there anyway to save it with a serial-usb connector or router connection?  Shipping it to Bitmain would be expensive a really terrible loss for me financially...  yeah it's showing 0s for the 3 pools

So I can't just take the cover off and reset it and it will restore the firmware/software to the original programming?  I didn't know this was going to be like open heart surgery or I would have left the machine to upgrade

the one miner was upgrading firmware and then I turned it off because it was taking a while.  Now I can't even see it on ip scan.  I can get the other miner into config but it's not mining even though I setup the worker name on a pool.  I just reset my laptop and LAN came back with the other miner s3 but the firmware issue miner isn't even accessible or showing up on ipscan

If you shut the miner off while upgrading the firmware I think that one will need to be sent to Bitmain. The other miner you say is not mining ...what does the miner status page say about the 3 pools Dead or alive?

I think he's saying he cant access status page (or any page in GUI).   Is this the one with reset button problem?  Can you go into more details on it?   Have you made sure nothing is in front of the button?

But you are right on other one it with being turned off during update either needs serial to usb cable to try to fix or contact Bitmain to buy another/fix controller - https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us

thanks very much!!!  I was into the s3 config screen with an ethernet cable and LAN.  But suddenly after I changed the IP, DHCP, WAN, WWAN settings my LAN just disappeared from the network center.  I tried to upgrade the firmware on one s3, now it powers up more slowly and the fan isn't on.

well, I can't get the reset button to depress with a long tipped pen, maybe I should find a screwdriver.  I installed Putty, but it can't access the s3 through 192.168.1.99 and on the site it says it could destroy the miner?

Pull the cover if needed so you can see the button. If not don't push so hard that you break the button or something else. (i thought some reported that the reset button didn't work for them)
Also remember once you push the reset the IP address will default. To make things easier for me I downloaded FLING to my smart phone so I could see all the IP addresses being used on my router. You can then check make sure nothing else is using the same IP address.

Yes if you use putty and edit wrong file or make wrong change you again can make a brick.  A screwdriver will be two big to do it.  Maybe small alligator clips or wire.  You would try to do the reset via completing the circuit.  You might want to put electrical tape or something around it where you can only touch reset button wires. As you don't want to connect the wrong points on board and possibly do damage.  (This is assuming the button is truly broken and your pushing it is doing nothing. I have heard of reset problems but not being able to depress is odd.  Also assuming it's not being blocked by case).

Did this miner go through the upgrade and turn off during update that you mentioned?

well that's not great I don't know what to do.  I'm trying a factory reset since I can't even find the 2 s3s on the angryip scanner now after changing the DHCP IP settings and trying to connect to a WIFI through WAN WWAN.
but the s3 is still blinking red and when I use a pen to press the reset button it doesn't seem to depress at all

Also bringing in: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/--1102121
I've tried the factory reset waiting 3minutes and pressing the reset button, but my s3 is still only blinking red.  I tried to upgrade the firmware and disconnected early.  I can't even detect the 2 s3s on angryip now and can't access the config and I paid $300 for both
I think I activated the DHCP and changed the IP addresses on both to 192.168.1.2 or something

am I doing the reset right or do I need a router or a serial to usb connector that is special?

The huge thing is disconnecting during firmware.  This in most cases will cause a problem.  Did you disconnect during on both?

I would try one at a time and try resetting and see if you can find it in devices (trying one at a time).  But if you really did disconnect on both during updates there is a good chance you would need to do the serial to usb to recover.

So that is first thing and on other the one that will not depress that sounds like there could another issue there.  If it does not depress it's likely you cannot press reset button to reset.  You might be able to fix with using a wire or something to complete the circuit temporary trying to do reset procedure.  But if it was turned off during update likely this will not matter as chances are it's bricked on controller.

And if you cannot fix via serial to usb you can contact bitmain support to buy S3 controllers assuming they have them still in stock.  Create a ticket here - https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us

I have 2 s3 antminers do I need a router with a bridge to connect to the internet.  Is that the cheapest way to do that or do I can I connect both miners through my laptop?
I really need to start mining for hospital bills and food
Not to be the bearer of bad news... but even with absolutely free electricity those S3s aren't going to make you a whole lot of anything.  Looking at your other post here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/antminer-s3-setup-with-laptop-wifi-please-help-1101798 I'm not sure what to think.  You paid for these miners (you stated you got a great price on them), so you're going to need to recoup that cost before you can say that your miners are earning you anything.

At current difficulty levels and exchange rates, 2 S3s will expect to make you about $2.21 a day.  Not sure how many bills or how many meals that's going to provide for you.

You will need someway for them to get internet access.  There are lots of way's to do this.  Could be a router from your cable modem.  Or a hub from your router, etc.

Do you only have access to a wireless connection? Or do you have a Ethernet connection as well?

I've tried everything, changing my Wifi IPv4 and LAN IPv4 properties.  I get a login screen when I keep the Wifi settings at default and I enter root, root for user and pass but I can't login.  I tried resetting the miners with a pen but it doesn't seem to depress the button

So when you are pressing the button it is not pushing it?  It can be hard to hit with case on some units but it should be able to feel it being pressed back. Might try something smaller if the button is being blocked by case.

Even if you try something smaller is button seem to be already pressed?
