@suchmoon, this is a little off-topic, but can your copper newbie account see the Investigations board?

Yes, I can see Investigations, Serious Discussion, and Ivory Tower. I didn't try posting but I assume I would be able to.

Just pay for copper... works fine.

If copper membership gives you Member perks, then I'm expecting the Investigations board (Members+ only board) to be acessible as well.

It was probably moved by a moderator.
Thanks, this reason is more likely to happen.

Newbie is limited to posting to certain boards (such as Archival) possibly since the enactment of this rule:

But it does affect:

- Board restrictions

And that limitation can be removed by becoming a copper member.

Many of these limitations can be eliminated with a copper membership

I don't know exactly when the rule applies to a newbie (non-copper member) couldn't post or create a new topic on the Archival board. If I refer to old posts, I see that newbies can still post on the board.

Maybe that account was Jr. Member when made that topic. Demotion to newbie and deleted many posts.
If you look at his account registration date (May 10, 2019), I don't think he might have previously become Jr. Member. It's different if he has registered before September 2018 (Enhanced newbie restrictions & requirements).

And what about the following member posts:

I also tried, as I'm still a newbie. There is no option to post a new topic. -snip-

I also tried, as I'm still a newbie. There is no option to post a new topic. I tried to move one of my threads and got the same error as LoyceVbot.
When I become Jr. I will write if there is a change.

So maybe it is Hero and above. Maybe it should be lowered or the restriction removed, but I suppose people can move just move their thread there.
You can't if you are not allowed to post there on the first place: "You are not allowed to move topics there."

Weird. I can move threads there on this account. There must be some sort of restrictions on who can, but Junior Members are now popping up claiming they can do it so not sure who it's limited to. Maybe it's an error or a bug.

I can use Archival as a member. I tested it there

It is limited to Jr member (DdmrDdmr said) or Copper member (reppoC said)

Maybe that's it. But the worst part is having to post until I get 30 activity. My bot only scrapes the forum as of now, so I would need to do that manually. Tongue

My suggestion: Open a self-moderated topic in Off-topic from your main account, play around there, and move it to Archival when you're done.
That's what I did. It's enough for now. Thanks Smiley

If i remember correctly i suggested a test board before
That would be great. I hope theymos considers this option in the near future (or at least before I get to Jr).

If i remember correctly i suggested a test board before, with the same restrictions as the Ivory Tower, except for the Full Member (make it Jr. or 1 merit-received restriction) with possibility of having it a Self moderated.

I didn't think it was even possible to create a thread in there but turns out I can:

I confirm I can't post in Archival, and this account is Whitelisted. I created a test topic in Off-topic, and can't move it to Archival either:

If I recall correctly, @piggy’s bot (@Maggiordomo), posted in Archival being a Jr. Member at most: I was the first person to merit the Account in September 2018 (https://public.tableau.com/shared/HXB2YZP3R?:display_count=y&:origin=viz_share_link), and the bot was already happily posting in Archival in October 2018 (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.46940251) with 3 merits tops. I figure it was a Jr. Member (which does not discard the account being a Newbie during tests on Archival).

Another vote for Jr. Member: Restrictions on Archival Topic Creation

If what I thought is right, you will be able to post in Archival after your activity is 1 (newbie rank with 1 activity point at least). You can test it by not posting more post. Simply wait your activity is counted as 1, and your rank becomes Newbie.
Nope.

I dunno and I don't find answer with search but I guess I have one reason for you.

Think of it logically, the Archival board has 2 main usecases:
- For Old stuff (that is what it is described for): I believe it is the most important usecase of Archival.
- For testing: I guess people also use it for testing. It is accepted but it is not the initial usecase of Archival.

I think it's hero rank you need to be able to post there.
LoyceBot is only Full Member and he posts there.

Just test stuff out in off-topic not sure what archival is for anyway with posting new topics.
I don't think that's right. Some people actually use the off-topic board and there is a moderator patrolling it. I would just spam it with stuff no one cares about.

@TryNinja here.

I wanted to create a thread on Archival and post there to test some stuff, but it looks like I can't. Do I need a specific rank to do that? And why?
