Hello I bought gmt and now I wanted to sell but kucoin does not let me:

Minimum size 1gmt

Why not let me sell the same amount of gmt I bought an hour ago?
This only happens in kucoin or is something common in all exchanges?

Maybe sharing a screenshot could help out to know how the surface is and I want to let you know that it couldn't be able to cover the trading fee this might be the reason why you weren't able to sell back.
For instance Binance, there minimal trade is $10 anything less than that can not be able to execute and despite you bought with $10 I m sure there might be some fractions which added to buy to cover the trading fee like $10.6 the is ~ $11 so you would be wondering how could you but with 1 Unit and couldn't able to sell back.

This is more than a month old topic and probably the OP already know what's wrong since he already mention his problem on Kucoin. He probably deposit more BTC or USDT and purchase more GMT to convert his stuck balance. The OP is not active anymore so there's no need lengthen this discussion.

Let's just report the topic so that admin can see this and lock the topic immediately.

Different crypto exchanges have a minimum trade value like $10 in Binance below which you cannot trade. Similarly, the minimum trade size for GMT token in Kukoin is 1 GMT. No fraction sell can be made below 1 but fraction sell can be made above 1. So if you want to sell your GMT token, your total GMT balance must be 1 or more.

Kucoin has its own provisions for the tokens you want to sell, if the GMT token has a price of 10 dollars, then you can do it, you can see it when you sell your GMT token, whether the overall price reaches as specified, then you can sell it, at least you  must have some of your GMT tokens.

It's something common in all of exchange sites. You need to add more GMT to be able to sell it. You have bought minimum amount of GMT but you forgot if when you wanna try to sell back your GMT and you need to pay the fees as well. When you are adding more GMT and you will able to sell it as you will be also paying the trade fees. For me this is a common thing in the crypto. It's also happening in another exchange site like binance or FTX as well.

I also experienced this after buying an altcoin and couldn't sell it because there is a minimum sale, you can try to buy some GMT to sell it but you will be charged trading fees, hopefully in the future you can be more careful in buying altcoins and can find information about trading these altcoins

This is a common situation when trading altcoins on exchanges. I have often seen this happen when I try to sell altcoins on exchanges. Many exchanges set order limits for altcoins, so sometimes you can't sell the amount you have. For example, Binance has a new feature where different crypto dust can be converted into some specific asset. Very convenient if you have a lot of balances of different cryptocurrencies and you want to withdraw them all, for example, or exchange them for something else.

I find a little weird that you can't sell the same amount you just bought but I guess they have different rules, in this way you are forced to buy more.
correct, for sure they letting people to buy any amount but when it comes to selling they have limits. Lol i think it's very common even in other platform especially if you want to convert it in other network again wherein the fees it to high or that's what it is base on their rues.? It seems not fair for those who have made mistakes buying and want to recover their money from it.   Cheesy

Just buy another 1 GMT and selm the whole GMT you got, never forget that exchanges will charge trading fee for every trade so the trading fee will be deducted from the bought coin once the trade is completed. This is common in every exchange and every exchange has their own trade order limit which differs for every coin.

The max amount of coins or tokens that you can trade on binance exchange must be worth at least 10$, I'm guessing kucoin has its limit too, I'm not sure if GMT is listed on coinEX that exchange allows trading very low amount of tokens.

Did you convert it using converter? Or spot trading (direct trades)?
you can read more about spot trading here ----> https://support.kucoin.plus/hc/en-us/articles/360015207073-How-to-Make-a-Trade-on-KuCoin
Anyway any amount less than <0.001 KCS will be rejected, which is about 0.02 USD.
If you are trying to use the converter, this amount may be larger and the trading volume for that pair may be affected.

Anyway  KUCOIN listed $GMT on March 18, 2022 (UTC) so I think it is trading volume problem, contact support team for more info.

You are even lucky, Kucoin requires a minimum of 1 GMT which is roughly $2.9, Most exchanges have a tradable minimum of $10 in asset value. I think the reason you are failing to sell the minimum you initially bought is because of the trading fees.

Please just top up, and you will be able to sell it off.

There are minimum limits when buying or selling so that people don't spam the exchange by trading dusts only. But most of the time the buying and selling limit are the same. I mean it should be the same, right? Probably some fees associated with it? Did you check the difference of the minimum? The limit exist in all exchanges but I have never noticed the difference. The only thing you can do right is buy more gmt and sell it instantly (you lose trading fees).

I don't know what is the minimum requirement for kucoin, please check and do the recommended kucoin requirements.
1GMT is too small for you to place an order, every exchange has a minimum order amount for each token you need to buy some more GMT and then resell with all the GMTs you currently have.

Did you purchase the minimum amount of GMT? If it's only the amount that is stopping you from selling your GMT, it might be because you are selling a different amount from the amount that you bought.

I'm guessing this. I don't know how KuCoin works exactly, but I'm guessing that OP managed to buy the low minimum amount but is unable to sell because the amount was reduced due to exchange fees.

every exchange has own rule including kucoin is self binance in other hand dont let you buy or sell below 10$value so if u have less than that u cant sell only cant convert them to bnb

if u still want to sell the coin the only way is buy more or sell it on decentralized exchange

I think they're trying to make sure that you can't get out the same way that you got in, I think that's how Binance works too although I don't think I'll encounter that problem anytime soon because I don't fiddle too much with what I have in that place. Maybe try to contact their support regarding this or read the fine print of their terms and conditions.

I could be wrong and anybody please correct me, but I have the suspicion that since the amount of GMT that you bought isn't exactly the same amount of GMT that you received because of the fee, by the time that you sell, it is already short of the minimum amount.
