why'd you carry it around with you anyways? that's crazy to be carrying 13k around like that.

You are right. I'm extremely lucky.  Lesson learned!

it's cool to hear your coins are safe.. it was a free lesson i suppose.

but my question still stands. why were you carrying it around in the first place?
Beetcoin, I did hear you the first time. re. 'my question still stands' fyi you are not a prosecutor in a court in which I am being questioned as a witness.  This is just a forum.  If I chose not to reply maybe I did not intend to reply?

But seeing as you asked, I have been struggling with accepting the reality of the increase in value and having something tangible in my hand that I can hold and handle and accept its value ($10,000 USD followed by €10,000 last week then £10,000 over the weekend).  Kinda makes it more real to me than 'mere' numbers on a screen however long I stare at them!!  The cost of this, which I did know but had accepted, was the risk of loss.  Yet I thought for now it was worth it.  In retrospect it is obviously silly but hey ho!  Had I lost it as you can see above I would have accepted the loss but as it happens I didn't Smiley

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am delighted to announce my coin was found Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

It had fallen out of my pocket in the car of a colleague who had given me a lift back to the airport.  Someone is undeservingly lucky considering I'd been walking around Cork with it in my pocket all weekend.  Into the safe it goes!!

Thanks again for your support.

I think maybe all things considered a couple of grand's worth towards the recovery operation in the Philippines is in order.

Thanks guys.

It did not pass unnoticed that the day I lost it was the day its value touched €10,000!  There is no doubt it's an 'ouch' situation but at the same time other than doing what I can to remember where I could have dropped it/put it down and asking my Irish friends to look out for/ask around for it there is little I can do.  The fact of it having gone is not something I can not control but my reaction to the event is something I do have a say in and my choice on the whole is not to drive myself nuts over it.  I am surprised but pleased to say I slept well last night!

As for 'phorensics'.  I do have the shortbits for the coin somewhere and will unless it is found and returned in due course put it on watch.  If it gets moved I might enquire further but I won't hold my breath on that one!

Help me save Buddy!
I'm new to blockchain forensics, but how about looking for transactions of that amount where the blockchain is first notified of the transaction from an IP address in Cork?

And commiserations.

Just on the off chance, if any Irish bitcoiners get approached with a 25btc piece in the next few days there's a fair chance it was mine and I'd be interested to know and prepared to talk about a generous award for its return.  However it should be noted this is not stolen but lost so it should not be assumed its holder did anything dishonest.  I was careless.

It was lost today between 2pm and 6pm somewhere between Quay Coop on Sullivan's Quay and Union Quay.

I'm disappointed but surprisingly OK about it.  However, obviously would be EXTREMELY grateful of its return Smiley

~$13,000 and your "OK about it",,, ouch
