I do know who purchased it (though that is not something I will ever share- so please don't ask), but I told them to let me check with someone who FOR SURE has Cas paper wallet that's real (something received from Mike directly).  I unfortunately haven't heard back form them.

What I do remember is someone telling me that this is not what they actually looked like.  Perhaps Mike made several "style's" of paper wallets.  Not sure.

This is what I know.  It would be nice if Caldwell would help chime in for certain things time to time, but I doubt that's ever going to happen.  I mean I get it, and both don't.  The one thing about Mike that REALLY grinds my gears is not helping Krogo and I with the Fake Cas thread (one that is pretty "famous" at this point, has been featured in a multitude of bitcoin articles of world wide publications etc.  Not being willing to add that thread to https://www.casascius.com/ is bs.  Mike also , on his old blog, said that he found a really well made fake Cas 25, but the photo is now a dead link and when I DM'd him (from an account of mine he followed ) to inquire about it/explained the importance of it..was met with silence.

I also find it weird that Mike was one of the few physical coin makers interviewed for the Physical Bitcoin Encyclopedia yet there was missing/incomplete and incorrect information , such as mintage numbers.  I have a hunch that Mike made Cas stuff we've never seen or was never released publicly.. perhaps paper wallets is one of those.

I spoke to that eBay seller through messages on several occasions and they told me their entire supply came from one individual who redeemed many coins and then consigned the redeemed coins with the seller to sell on eBay - almost all of the items were graded and legitimate so I would imagine this paper wallet was as well. When I saw this auction I had no idea of the rarity of this item and so did not bid but it would have been a cool collectible for sure.

From this listing description: https://www.ebay.com/itm/196401241162

"An obscure, yet rich piece of Bitcoin History.
Casascius generated paper wallets.

Paper is thick cotton fiber (I think)

WARNING! No not use! You will lose your coins!

Free Shipping"

---------------

Interesting use of "Thick cotton fiber"

So not exactly regular paper, can anyone else confirm this.

Anyone have one for sale for 750? Seems cheap

Seems like it might be one of the rarest Cas items. I've seen more 1000btc's than paper wallets

I remember seeing the ebay posting for this, and I think it was legitimate because the seller had some other rare Cas items, but I did not bid because it seems pretty easy for almost anyone to fake these.  There doesn't appear to be any info on how many were printed, any security features of the paper, etc.  And I doubt Mike will weigh in at this point.  So without some direct proof of the original purchase, I would not have any confidence in saying one is legitimate or not.

Even in this thread, the two examples posted have lots of little differences.  One has a header showing "S/N", the other says "Seq #".  The fonts, spacing, and colors also appear to have some differences.

Ive never seen one before that eBay listing, if anyone has the pictures please upload so we can study them.

I don't think I've ever seen a photo of one, but this sample image shows what they look like (minus signature, date and fingerprint).

https://wiki.coin.community/File:Casascius_-_paper_wallet_sample-1.jpg

The fact that the private keys are visible means there are probably very few images of them, but if someone is willing to post one that would be awesome.

I’m wanting to say I was told that is not what they look like. I also think I know of one person who told me they own one but didn’t want to bug them. But I forgot about the thread krogo posted..this seems a difficult find, so I bugged the person lol. Will provide update.

if i read that page right - is it saying those 3 shown are from Theymos?

Any idea what one might be worth?

One has been sold on ebay (May 2024) for 727 USD by a famous seller of crypto collectibles (and Casascius items).
Just search on ebay.com this item number :196401241162 and you will find all details... this is the title of the auction if needed.
