I'm new, so I'm buying, although I can't find much information of cash deposits in banks. I want to keep my btc anonymous because it's my money and if I want to hold cash outside of the centralized banking system I shouldn't need to let anyone know.

I am looking to hold a small amount of btc and have considered localbitcoins, problem is if I cash deposit at a bank through a trusted user do I need to provide ID? Will I remain anonymous?

I'm in Australia, this may differ from country to country.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Regards, Gallah

AFAIK LocalBitcoins or any other P2P exchange does not require any ID verification as rule. But, some seller may ask for it in certain cases. In that case, u need to chose some other seller... SIMPLE Smiley

There should be no reason that you would have to provide ID to do a cash deposit. I've done them here in the U.S. and I have never had to provide any kind of ID.

Make sure that you follow the seller's instructions exactly. If you don't, the seller may decide to refund your money instead of delivering the bitcoins (fraud is a big risk), and that could tie up your money for a long time.
