You forgot to talk about prostitution and alt accounts posting on the same thread. Wink

- I think these people are in one of the above categories, or just do not talk about merits. In my opinion, you go far from the title of the topic Smiley

A thumb up for your 3rd category. Should call them "Higher level of beggars"....
- Ahaha, Really accurate name and at the same time very funny. I laughed for a few minutes Grin

Congratulations mate , you deserved you first merit.
- Thank you, not sure of it Wink

… Take a look at the most recent posts in Bitcoin Discussion and you'll see what I mean...
- I understand what you mean.
I've definitely seen a lot of category #3, but some of them do the forum a service by reporting alt accounts being used to cheat bounties.  I have no problem with that whatsoever, and I hope they keep doing this.  Whether they're trying to earn merits or get on DT is not an issue to me.  Lots of people are ambitious, and it's common enough to be considered a human trait.  What I don't like to see are the ones who eventually turn out to be dishonest--having alt accounts in the same bounties or what have you.  I just saw that happen about a month ago, though I've forgotten what his name was.
- hope I will never let you down and will never be in your huge red list  Wink. I realize that the fighter number one against scam and cheaters has to have the army of people who help him, cuz this war is really hard. I have some thoughts about improving and preventing this flow of new alt acc, but at the beginning I have to do search in the forum to avoid duplication of the topic.
Good thread, OP.
- Thank you

You've left out the 5th category - the new members who have come here to broaden their knowledge about Bitcoin and crypto, and are prepared to run a bitcoin node. They are also interested in the bitcoin economy. Mind you, you can probably count those members on the fingers of one foot. Smiley
- You are right. I have just added this category with my comment.

its true Smiley Especially im hate who create crybaby post about merit Smiley

It's a real struggle to try to help them, and I suspect that many of them are becoming frightened to put their heads above the parapet. Good and industrious new members should support the various initiatives that are here to encourage them.  If they don't use the projects, then they will lose them.

JC makes a good point about BUM's (Begging Users for Merit - JC coined this) and there is a lot of spam on the forum.

I think merit is a good idea in the right direction, but it should be reserved for ONLY good posts.

I'm still a Newbie and do not take too much offense to those type of comments.  Sometimes they are pretty funny and part of what makes comments worth reading.

But that said, no likes a jerk and especially a useless posting jerk.

I'm all about those projects  to help beginners and the cryptography space.

Can you add some links JC?

The categories here are a bit too rigid, but obviously I fit most into #2--except that I don't despise newcomers for being newcomers.  Everyone here was new at some point, including myself.  What I despise are shitposters, and I have made that clear for quite some time now.  It just so happens that most of that population consists of noobs.  Take a look at the most recent posts in Bitcoin Discussion and you'll see what I mean.  The trend of creating multiple alt accounts to enroll in bounties means there are tons of garbage-posting newbies, and I can't stand it.

-To be honest, I'm a bit embarrassed, because I feel that my level of English does not allow me to understand the depth of your answer and the play of words here. I need time to realize everything you said.  Cheesy

I haven't seen any policy in the world that the whole populace was pleased about. There will always be some people whom a given policy is playing against and they tend to complain or those who feel frustrated by it will also complain. I think the merit system is good a new rank has to be earned and new accounts are being limited too.
- Totally agree with you. As far as concern profit of Merit system, from my point of view, the best thread about it - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/merit-is-the-best-thing-that-happened-to-new-users-2828014 . His position is very close to me.

I am not sure which category you are in but looking at your post history I could not find many posts that worth merit (in my view only) except this one. It is very clear that in this one you had clear afford to express your thinking. Keep up creating thoughtful, useful, community driven contents you will see result.

One merit sent on your way with a hope that it will give you some inspiration for a new beginning.
-I'm a new person here and I do not have much experience of communication through the forum. I am perfectly aware that my level of communication and posts does not deserve awards. But I am not addicted of Merits and don't aspire to get them at any cost. The main purpose of my post, to tell about my thoughts and get a feedback from the more skilled members of the forum. Nevertheless, many thanks for your credit. It really makes me move on and improve my posts.

I'm so thankful for these people, they are the support system who make this forum bigger and better. They do know what to do with their merits  Smiley
-Agree

-Solid position is really good for everyone Wink. But as for me, I wanna see any feedbacks, even if they are not pleasant for me. Any of our feedback or thoughts is a judgment or an assessment of something or someone.

Reading this statement and seeing the Merit you've got out of this thread, It seems like you deserve a place in the 3rd category of your own opinion.
No offense. Just a private opinion from the heart. If someone disagrees, I don't really care.  Grin Just kidding. I really appreciate the people who disagree with things proving they have a stand of their own.
-Thank you for your opinion, I think I should not proof something to someone because It's impossible to do here, I respect your opinion, as the opinions of all at this forum. But as the answer, I would like to tell you, I hate people from 3rd group and I am going to be useful for this forum (at least I will try to be so).

I like Meta thread, I read it daily and pay attention on a few categories of people who constantly speak merits about.
--snip--
Also I want to call up everyone, follow the etiquette and behave like real civilized people.

Same here... despite other technical discussions on the forum I like meta section the most....  here people let their inner feelings come out... how they feel about merit/trust/ranking you can read what is going on in their heads and I love reading it. But I don't judge anyone.

I hate when some members try to judge other people based on their post history and starts calling them shitposters or thirdworld posters or whatever...

When you give a merit to someone's post you should not start investigating his entire post history...  you liked his/her particular post give it a credit that's it... and leave him alone whatever he/she is doing on the forum.

It's a merit not a charity and that you gave.

4. Of course I must mention about a big part adequate and educated people who try to do something useful for everyone despite the titles and number of merits. These people are core of this forum and make the main qualitative content, posts and comments.

2. Member who despises newcomers These people usually post with unconcealed disgust, about the low quality of posts that are made by newcomers,  I understand their feelings when a crowd of uneducated, hungry and sometimes rude people try to tear this forum apart. But such behaviour is not always justified and has become something of a trend for many high-ranking members.
Let's be honest - everyone understands that for newcomers it is harder to receive Merit, than for Hero or Legendary Members. Not only due to the low quality of posts, but also due to prejudice.

Apologies - I messed around with your English, because I am in that sort of mood today.

You need to qualify that statement. I am one of the members who despise the new posts that are flooding the forum. I think it is scum, and unfortunately scum seems to rise to the surface. The scum is comprised mainly of bots, alts, ill spoken and un-educated scroungers, and the indolent. The few good posters who arrive are frequently drowned out and ignored. I'm concerned that it will push them away from the forum, and we really need them to try to restore the balance here.

It's a real struggle to try to help them, and I suspect that many of them are becoming frightened to put their heads above the parapet. Good and industrious new members should support the various initiatives that are here to encourage them.  If they don't use the projects, then they will lose them.

Good day everyone.

I like Meta thread, I read it daily and pay attention on a few categories of people who constantly speak merits about.

1. People who constantly whine Merits about They blame for people who receive merits at the beginning, complain about people who give Merits each other and so on. No constructive, no ideas, no future (from my point of view).

2. Members who despises newcomers This people usually speak about low quality of posts are made by newcomers, with an unconcealed disgust. I understand their feelling, when crowd of uneducated, hungry and sometimes rude people try to tear this forum. But such behavior is not always justified and has become something of a trend for many high-ranking members.
Let's be honest - everyone understand that for newcomers is harder to receive Merit than Hero or Legendary Members. Not only due to low quality of posts but including due to prejudice.

3. Low rank members who (I don't want to use offensive words) tries to please high-ranking members These people create thread with loud and attractive statements playing on their feelings. "We should maximally curb the rights of newcomers and make them write extremely useful posts". This behavior of bad politicians, who knowing that they will never be winners, but try to say the most insane and adulatory slogans. In doing so, it is nothing more than spam and an attempt to earn merits. The funny thing is that sometimes they manage to achieve their goal - a disgusting sight.

4. Of course I must mention about a big part adequate and educated people who try to do something useful for everyone despite the titles and number of merits. These people are core of this forum and make the main qualitative content, posts and comments.

To sum up, I would like to say thank you 4th category of people, who really do good things. Also I want to call up everyone, follow the etiquette and behave like real civilized people.
I did not want to offend anyone, it was only my private opinion, said from the heart. If someone disagree with me, I will appreciate discussion.

After fruitful discussion  Smiley, with an advice of Jet Cash, the 5th category which has to be here is added:
5. The new members who have come here to broaden their knowledge about Bitcoin and crypto, and are prepared to run a bitcoin node. These are the people who are welcome in this forum, and more experienced members are ready to help them in their search and zeal.
