The Philippines is a rather odd case. Here, those who are in the top ranks of this religion tends to meddle with politics and sometimes even bends the law for their own favor. Pedophile priests get away with their sins towards the youth. Some priests do pray over to some corrupt officials and give them their blessing in front of the media; Even prays for our own President to get sick. They build christian schools which only the riches can enter. The poor are left out. That does not sound like a beacon to me but an organization that is needed to be fixed inside-out. These people speak as if they speak for the whole Filipinos even though Philippines has a very diverse culture with many religions.

They ask for it so they can lock the devil in a cold dark place called "their vault".
Once they have more than enough devil, they'll release it back to the outside world, little by little, to restore balance between good and evil.
It goes on and on like a broken record and finally they created their own vicious circle.

Love is somehow complicated, though I prefer "Greed".

@OP perhaps forgot what Christians are doing there. They don't register a charity for the sake of taxes. They are helping thousands of children who scavenge through mountains of garbage without shoes, sleeping in graveyards and snorting glue every day. Contraception has never been accepted by the church especially by conservatives and even the pope

Except its not money that is the root of all evil, but the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Believe it or not that one word "love" makes a huge difference when tackling this subject.

I'm no Anti nor Pro, but given this statement, this makes the priests or those people who represents the church hypocrites. Did Jesus beg for money? As I could remember and somehow read from some articles from the past, Jesus did not beg for money, hence it was the people who "generously" donate. In addition, it was this way they managed to survive. Why do they ask for it? For self preservation. How do they do it? Philippines is known for being one of the biggest catholic country in the world, and mass is done everyday, this is supposed to be alms but in now it became a requirement in return of salvation they say.

As for the RH Bill and over population issue, Some may know the sayings about "go forth and multiply", the main reason of the church why they opposed against the RH Bill is that they wanted to significantly grow in numbers, *conspiracy theory* they don't take poverty seriously, they are much concern about power and money (for themselves). Philippines have this law regards the separation of state and the church, which is somehow being ignored sometimes.

Holdings of the Church, There's a news in regards the wealth of the Church here in the Philippines in which a bishop was interviewed and questioned how did the church gained that amount of money. This bishop said that it was hand over from generations to generations, no concrete answer was revealed. So if you could look at it, the Catholic church and it's subordinates itself are the most wealthiest organization here in the Philippines. Even though they won't disclose it. I'll try to look for the copy of that interview.

PS: Asking for donations is not bad nor unethical, but making it as requirement defaulted it.

The interrelation between religious countries and poverty is almost hilarious. If you compare atheists countries with big religious ones, the differences between the distribution of money seem really amazing. It is sadly obvious that fanatism -I don't find a different world to describe the process of using the religious filter to see anything in this world- is one of the biggest problems related to the economy.

Of course, it is not accidentally engaged with overpopulation: the prohibition of abortion, the encouragement of having a "big family" even when the familiar economy doesn' t allow that, keep the people living into poverty, which, by the way, is one of the best ways of control any government can have. Religion and poverty is the new concept of "Panis et circenses".

I think you are partly right, maybe because our age consent is 12 fucking years old and there are too many underage children mostly in the rural areas that are pregnant in their early age, "How can a 12-year-old child give consent to sex??? How did the age of consent become 12yrs old in the #Philippines? Meanwhile, people under 18 yrs of age cannot get an HIV test without parental consent. This needs to be changed."

in perfect scenario there is no such thing as overpopulation just a bad organisation. the philipenes are not organised well. they have to diversify their economy create specialised corporate cells. so they can overcome problems or simply kill each other or with the muslims because of religious rituals.

the catholic church is not a power system, it doesnt have an own currency. it also has no military. its just a beacon that transmits a culture.

Overpopulation here in the Philippines is a great problem our current population is 106,729,899 so our government create a law called RH Bill or Reproductive Health Bill that would teach the students about sexual reproduction and the use of contraceptives but the Catholic opposes it and said "contraception is corruption" or they call it the “anti-life” that law has been debated for more than 13 years and has been signed but not fully implemented.

The Catholic Churches here doesn't have to pay tax and no one in the government dares to do it because of the criticizing of the peoples imagine the amount of money they get every mass. Churches get tax considerations in this city-state not because they represent religions, but because they register as charities and that’s the basis of their tax exemption. The transparency that is unheard of today in the management of church funds, is another reason why churches must pay taxes like the rest of us.
