This is a good charity which is held by famous celebrities in the poker world. Certainly in this pandemic situation, we realize that we need to help them in any case, including poker tournaments that have been held and prizes will be donated to charities that have been provided. to bring covid-19.

In any case charity is for good is a good thing of course with great rewards will make them happy with the tournament and can help the victims who are infected covid-19.

I am happy to see an event like this and surely there is a lot of support from the community.

If that event success, I think we will see another game that will start too. It is always good to share some of what we have to people who needed that, so I think the donation will help them to survive at this moment.

I am sure that event will get supports from the other celebrities as they want to donate their money too. Well, we hope that the tournament will succeed and attract more people to donate to charities.

I think people from all genders, position in life and countries are here to help people in this pandemic and in each side of social media and TV's we can see them helping in own ways.

While gambling is one of the fastest place to take donations,i believe that effort of this gamers either celebrities or not will Give hope for many people and victims of Convid-19.

not specifically all people but you are right  that theres no gender , position in life and nationality to be able to help people in need  but i think some are only showing off  . they use thier gadgets to take videos , they use the media  just to show the world that they are helping  .

why can they just help people directly without those gimmicks   ?  not only in the form of gambling  but all of us can do donate if we are willing tho   .

A good initiative. Every form of raising-fund activities is actually good as every cents count.

Celebrities don't have to do much these days so they have more time at these. They are enjoying while at the same time, they are helping.

And not just that, according to the article, every donation that will come to their Livestream will benefit officials at humanitarian agency Care International aside from the charities.

Is the event already done?

Yes, the event is already over.

I wonder why they didn't get Tobey Maguire Cheesy. That dude is so insane at poker that he actually had a "movie" about him. If anyone watched Molly before the movie is about a woman who started this poker game with big players and there was this famous actor that played there as well, he was played by Michael Cera in the movie actually but the real one is Tobey Maguire. He was portrayed as a jerk obviously so he is probably just a very bad person all around to play poker with, which I assume is the whole reason why he wasn't invited.

However the prize is going towards the charity anyway, so he could both boost about how he won, but also could get whichever charity he chooses a million dollars, plus people would want to watch that instead of boring nice people playing poker.

This is not easy where not all countries will allow that. Because it could be illegal in some countries.

For that, organizers can think of another event instead. No need to follow the same event especially if gambling is illegal. There are lots of fund-raising activities, events, and sports competitions held by celebrities already around the world to raised funds helping a charity.

The project will only serve as an advertisement promoting poker that will entice everyone to play it with them since celebrities do.

You are correct as PokerStars will be the one that will provide the pot money. Sort of advertising and promotion.

However, looking at the bright side, the pot money is really a big help providing there are lots of supported charities covered by this event.

Anyways, Edward Norton is somehow a skilled gambler*. He used the knowledge he learned from his gambling movies. Smiley

This is a good initiatives and a good promotion for any poker company that's going to launch similar charity events like this, this pandemic has so many victims and this is the best and the right time for events like this, it will attract a lot of poker enthusiast and it will also drive other events to launch something like this, our country does not have a poker charity events like this we have a lot of poker players here I hope they launch one now.
^ Definitely right, it is another way of promotion and advertisement for poker companies like this may take advantage of the crisis to entice and encourage players to patronize them because it is for a good cause and at the same time you will have the chance to play with celebrities. If celebrities will play poker for a charity it is not a bad idea at all, they can actually do charitable works through their own ways and not only through playing poker. But in this case, we still need to look at the intention regardless if there will be celebrities or not we may still patronize it because of its a good cause. Nevertheless, I am not against celebrities playing poker for they are also humans like us and it may also help them lessen their stress and boredom, in fact, they are also doing this with good intentions.

It is like hitting two birds with one stone. Promotion and charity at the same time. This is actually good, it is not just they are helping other people, people will also have fun playing and watching celebrities playing cards. This is actually a unique way for gambling companies extending their help amidst the pandemic since some are just directly giving away to charities.

It doesn't make their image bad, they have the money and people who are open minded understand that these famous celebrities can actually do whatever they want. Money is not a problem, fame and riches so they don't even care if the people looking at them with raised eyebrows because of gambling.

Gambling is not bad, maybe some celebrities are gambling just to relieve their stress outside a broadcast media, they play gambling just to entertain themselves. People are really having a bad mindset about gambling, not all gamblers are the same. Yes it is true that there are people who are wasting their money in gambling, but some people treated it as a past time. Celebrities have a lot of money and gambling for a Covid-19 charity is really necessary during this pandemic, they are really helping by doing that. They help people and they relieve their stresses at the same time and that is okay because that's their money. Making a tournament will be essential for the sake of people necessities during this crisis.
People should look at the brighter side of it. It's taboo in different countries and religions and it's understandable but the attitude counts for these celebrities and they even don't care with our lives so why we should get into their lives telling other people that they are bad because they gamble. The charity that they do is what we must look forward and they are clarity with what they are thinking and that is to help in this bad time.

Exactly. Even famous celebrities like Kevin Hart, Dwayne Wade I think even LeBron and many other celebrities worth to mention haha. It's a matter of just not too lively of your social life because when camera is off, mostly they do; gamble.

I think that's a good event but hoping even the pot is there I think they can even get more than that if they invite more celebrities to join the table. Does the event be held this very day or it was already done? No details have been put there.
Yes, there's more to mention but it's their personal lives and it's out of our scope to tackle it anymore. There's a twitch link on the article provided by op and the time is there but there's no certain day when it will happen. The twitch link is currently live.

It's an almost natural idea right now since most of the world is experiencing a huge impact because of the effects of the virus. And this hasn't even covered the possible effects of it in the long run since not much talks have been seen for that far down the road. Still, I doubt anyone would actually denounce such an idea, and even if they were doing it to increase their popularity, then by all means, continue doing so. If it means helping someone else in exchange for me supporting them then I'm down for it. It's a lot more humane compared to those corrupt personnel who even use personal connections just to manipulate the flow of the goods that are supposed to be given to the poor.

As long as it is for the community then it will be a great help.

Right now we need the help of rich people like them so having a poker tournament and giving the portion of the winnings in a charity will be a great help for the community as a whole. Not just that but they will be enjoying their game as they are playing poker. I'm interested on it but with them, I think it would be enough already. As long as there are more celebrities who will participate in this program then it will be a good thing. There are some popular celebrities who are grown up gamblers especially in poker so I believe that there will be more celebrities who will join into this tournament for a cause Cheesy.
For sure there celebs that would join up specially if they do know the cause of this tournament which is to help in this pandemic situation. At least they do show off some initiative
to start up this event to consider out to help to those who are in need since they do have the capacity in terms of financial aspect then its good that they do opt in for this set-up.
They'll surely enjoy at the same time they do able to help people. This is a good news and thanks for the share up OP.

I agree, I like the idea of putting celebrities in seat for this Poker tournament for Covid-19. As we all know that there are a lot of celebrities who's into gambling so it makes sense for them to have some fun and at the same time raising money to help those who are affected by this pandemic.

Celebrities will attract more players to be honest, so it should be appreciated and its more effective way than asking for charity directly because not many people will give their money for free but with the event like these not many will not hesitate to spend money after knowing that these money will go for a good cause.

Also losing doesn't really hurt that much neither. I mean the worst case you are one part of something that gives people a lot of money, and people who need it as well, just goes to charities. So all in all I think charity poker tournaments are the best, everyone has fun, nobody really cares all that much who wins or who loses at that point unless they are super competitive, all they care about is creating some sort of charity run and getting the names of the charities out in front while doing some sort of civil duty by reminding everyone there are worse people on earth. I seriously believe the best case scenario for this would be to get as big names as you can, and honestly the current list looks not bad at all.

Donating to charities through tournament in my opinion is kind of fun. You can enjoy participating in the tournament and if you win then you will also be able to help. If there are many people who are willing to help then this pandemic will be contained much faster and can resume tournaments like before. Keep safe all.

Yes, it.might be.fun and it's for the good purposes at the same time. It's nice initiative however I'm always a bit sceptic when it comes to celebrities. I'm never sure if they are doing something like this really for the noble purpose or just for their own promotion? But no matter to that everything is good if the money at ends in.the right hands.

Poker tournament for a good cause is really great idea I just wish it will continue regardless if there is a pandemic or not. The project will only serve as an advertisement promoting poker that will entice everyone to play it with them since celebrities do.
Perhaps, they did it already, and this might be another form of helping out. It is somehow alike of what NBA organization did then to help charities although they can give it directly without any kind of gimmick. Well it was sort of same story above they did it through a mini-tourney (NBA2k20) and the winner would've the chance to choose which charity will benefit the prizepool. Anyway going back, it maybe an odd gesture of 'em but still, it is a good footstep, it can lead in to some branches of connection to whoever want to provide help as well and it can pique the interest of gamblers (at least once for a while, they can bet for the good, so what's there to lose). Lastly, this must be encourage, I think, or people needs to think of any humanly possible way to reach, and lend a hand to the needy even though it's uncommon.

Here in our country, there are too many celebrities doing the same, even spending the amount that comes from their own pocket.
Indeed very well said mate. I am lucky to hear that there are still good people in the middle of this pandemic like those artists who will play poker for a cause because they wanted to help the poor and the average people who is now suffering due to the corona virus outbreak. Here in my country it saddens me to hear that despite of the pandemic majority of the people here still minds the political issues instead of thinking about how we can survive with this outbreak.

I think it would be really great.

I think they should also consider letting the viewers donate to the stream and their donations would be also added to the money to be sent in the charity or for the people affected by the pandemic. A lot of celebrities are so eager and willing to help other people at these times. I just read something about Lady Gaga raising a fund for those people affected. As the world is being affected by the deadly viruses, more and more people are showing their love for each other.

That will be good news for us which we can see those celebrities have a kind heart to help other people. Although that is a poker game, that will be no problem because they donate to the charities to help people. I think that can make other people donate their money or more celebrities will seat together and play poker. If this tournament can achieve success, that might attract more people to make the other tournament. That will be good if people can join in donating their money so the prizes will be bigger.

It's also great to know some celebrities that actually gamble without worrying about their image. Famous personalities are good for the promotion of this charity event. I hope this tournament will be successful. It's a big help for those charities struggling amidst the corona virus.

The tournament is for the good, if there are still people that don't like such acts of good will, I don't know what they are thinking. The cause of the tournament is for the chosen charity and I hope that there will be such a twist and they have several charities to allocate the prize pot.

It's a good tournament idea they are making, it's like you are gambling for a cause. Doing the thing you like while helping people. It's really nice and having celebrities to join the tournament, they can also encourage other people or their fans to help also. Thanks for sharing. This is a good initiative, now more than ever charities must be created to help those most affected by Covid19. It could be exciting to see all the celebrities invited to the event to learn about its development and who is the winner.

Coronavirus does make people from various backgrounds become more aware and make them share and charity with each other. This time will come from several Celebrities who will take their seats in a poker tournament for charity to help in this corona pandemic era.

Just mention a few of them, namely Edward Norton, Amy Schumer, and also Jon Hamm, and many other celebrities who are going to have seats in the all-star poker tournament. The event is planned to be held on Saturday this week. In addition, there are also many more celebrities who want to participate in charity through poker tournaments.

The purpose of holding this poker tournament is to raise funds for coronavirus relief.
Quote
"This event is a great way to combine genuine giving where it's needed with a way to stay home and yet still connect with people from around the world," Azaria tells Deadline.com.

No half-hearted, PokerStars bosses have provided a prize pot of $ 1 million or £ 806,000. The prize will be directed to the charities that they have chosen. Actually, this is not the first poker game tournament for charity done by celebrities.

So are you interested in this? If more and more people, especially celebrities, help with this pandemic even if playing poker tournaments, this will be a good step. This is not easy where not all countries will allow that. Because it could be illegal in some countries. But for me personally, whatever our efforts to help or do charity for Covid-19 needs to be appreciated.
