What´s better and why?
Both are nearly identical in appearance and command parameters. Why not download both and decide for yourself? More than likely you will be able to use the exact same command line for both ... just change the name of the executable to easily switch between them. You can even run both at the same time (if you have more than one gpu and/or fpga). If you know how to use one, you know how to use the other.

I've flipped between each of these numerous times over the past couple of years (started with cgminer; bfgminer wasn't around then) and have seen them evolve; currently I'm using bfgminer because its current build has been very stable for me (I have fpgas only). And, as the saying goes, "if it ain't broke, ...".

Both miners have a very supportive and responsive community here.

They are very similar as bfgminer is a fork from cgminer.

cgminer has probably more users (I don't think many users on cgminer switched to bfgminer as there's no real point to it) and has 2 main developers (ckolivas and kano) instead of 1 (luke-jr) so it should be better supported.
