What are you trying to do? That code is 2 years old. Are you trying to cpu or gpu mine bitcoins? There is no code that does that any more in the current cgminer for it is pointless to try.

Are you new to linux? You need to use ./cgminer instead of just cgminer
i.e.:

I run cgminer on ubuntu but i see not output at the command line
I first successfully set up and run p2pool and then:
user@E4310:~/programs/cgminer-4.6.1$ cgminer -o http://127.0.0.1:9332 -u user -p password user@E4310:~/programs/cgminer-4.6.1$
