Have you installed the latest .net update? Also, you didn't mention if you have gotten CGminer to ever start on this system.

On a fresh install CGMINER fails under guiminer... but if I just run CGMINER from the command line it spins up ok. I have to figure out some tweaking to get some peak litecoin power :-)

Further experimenting.
I tried GUI miner - it runs Open CL - but SUCKS 3.5Mh/s
But least I know it will run.
So now just need to get cgminer running.... and hope it works a lot better.

Can anyone tell me  what is  an advantage to use  Cgminer  3.01  than   2.11.14  ??
some users  says  new one  give less  rejects  ??

The cgminer changelog mainly lists additions for ASIC support.

I had a similar issue with cgminer a few days ago and we fixed it. I had done a complete install of win8 and installed the AMD 13.3 drivers. Ran cgminer and 'has stopped working'. I tried to downgrade to 13.1 but couldn't get the drivers clean. I read about ccleaner, drive sweeper, atiman and all the other stuff. I was actually ready to kill my win8 install and start over. I even had my cd in the drive but the boot up missed the drive and opened win8 again. So I tried one last time and...still nothing. I Google amd support. Called them and had someone on the line in a few minutes.

We got it to work in 5 minutes.
We uninstalled all the ati software off the system but stuff still gets left behind.
He had me Google Driver Cleaner Pro 1.5 - he said the site had a ton of crap links and to be careful. We downloaded the app, installed it and ran it. Once we ran it we said to remove all aticcc from the system. We rebooted and installed the ati 13.1 drivers and fired up cgminer. I was waiting for the popup to tell me it stopped working but to my surprise it worked. Thumbs up to AMD support.

Just keep going - computers are all a pain in the backside. You only learn when stuff is broken.

I'm running 3.1.0. It seems to auto-crash unless you are pointing towards a stratum port. For instance:
If I'm mining at EMC, it would crash if I used the normal getwork port #8337 (or getpool? forget what it's called)
Code:
http://us1.eclipsemc.com:8337

Would stop crashing if I used EMC's stratum port #3333
Code:
http://us1.eclipsemc.com:3333

Try that and see if it works. Took me awhile to figure it out as well.

What URL are you trying to connect to, and what type of currency are you trying to mine? (needs to be SHA-256 if you're not using the scrypt flag)

Also may be worth trying cgminer 2.11.4 as well, just as a shot in the dark.

What settings are you starting with, and when it crashes can you move the crash notification out of the way and screenshot CGMiner?
