KryptKoin is one of the best!!!
I wrote the following post a few months ago. I explained there how to put that kernel file in cgminer and sgminer. I hope it helps:

Is your GPU Sapphire Dual-X 280X?

Yes they are, I also have a few Sapphire 290X's I can install if you think that's the issue?

I have Sapphire Dual-X 280x too. You should use special kernels for them. It took so much time of me to find this out. I will post the URL, where you can find the kernels in a few minutes.

Thanks for the info, that still doesn't answer why I can't get CGMiner to work with 3.7.2 and GPUs.

As for switching, I'm using Awesome Miner.

Think for yourself
I just did a fresh OS install and I can't get CGMiner to recognize my cards (R9 280X).  I've tried running 1 and 2 cards directly from the board as well as from a riser.

I've tried running CGMiner 3.7.2, 4.3.2 ans 4.4.2.

I installed the OpenOL drivers from AMD via the AMD SDk 2.9 and installed latest Video drivers from AMD's website.  I also ran MS update and installed Framework 4.5.

SGMiner works; it sees all cards, but I want to run CGMiner as it allows for smoother pool switching.

Any ideas on what I'm missing?

CGMiner 3.7.2 should work with GPU's.  That was the last version to support GPU's

Versions 3.8.0 and up do not support GPU's or AltCoins.

Edit: And you could never switch between different alt coin pools.  All pools always had to be mining ONE coin type only.
