Don't know if this helps but I experience the same problem if I underclock the memory of the cards beneath 1000 running 13.1.

Which coins are you trying to mine? Bitcoin/litecoin?
Which card(s) do you have?

After having this issue I found this topic:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/display-driver-stopped-responding-and-has-recovered-137208

but a solution remains to be found here...

any ideas on what could cause this problem?

for the ones not familiar with the issue it happens when starting CGminers. It hashes for a while (but without showing any shares) and then the screen flickers to black and a Windows's "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" message appears. After that my hashing rate drops ridiculously and the GPU stops working so intensively but still the program doesn't make any shares.

So I tried everything I could think of with no luck. I re installed ATI drivers 12.6 12.7 12.8 12.9 12.10 nothing. Tried different versions of the AMD SDK pack 2.8 2.7 2.6 nothing. Said fuck it and reformatted the hard drive to install a brand new Windows 7... nothing. Tossed all weird configs on the CGminer like --thread-concurrency --worksize --vectors etc. Nothing changed.

I play steam games with high graphics demand without any problems but can't mine until solving this issue.

Thanks for reading.
