None of us would be here without it. It's the one and only driver of the price and interest. If you removed speculation from the price you'd be left with a little spare change.
Yes. Everything came from the Wall Street. Speculation is one of the necessary side of making money on bitcoin. Those people who upped this wave of the mass panic about the 1st of august must be know that. Just look what is going on with the price! It is falling down, but as we see there are many people who are happy to see such results, they just buy and in the end they will be the winners, but not those who afraid of the price fall and hurry to sell bitcoins while the price is not too low.

How does speculation affect the exchanges?

I guess exchanges earn more money thanks to speculation

More speculation means more trades and thus more trading fees. Apart from that, exchanges can more easily run their dirty tricks, e.g. front-running the orders of their clients and earning even more profits (than they might deserve). If you really wanted to ask about markets (i.e. not exchanges alone) and how speculation affects them, the answer is rather straightforward though twofold. First, speculation necessarily raises prices since in order to sell speculators should first buy coins (i.e. more demand, at least, initially), and, second, speculation contributes to volatility since many more people are willing to buy or sell, and more often than not they act quite in line with each other (herd instinct)

How does speculation affect the exchanges?

How does it not effect the exchanges commerce consists of buyers and sellers, the trading between them to determine the best price is speculation.
Seems like a strange phrasing of the question.

Speculation is the force behind cryptocurrency, the market cap is not big enough to not be influenced by speculators.
You can say that bitcoin price movement is nothing but pure speculation - bitcoin price cannot be predicted accurately.
Until  some kind of regulations to the market are introduced this situation won't change.

There are people are using speculation to analyze what will be the price it helps a lot for other people to get idea if they should buy or not.. its just like in the market they are waiting for cheap price in order to get benefits if the price increased..
That is why we have speculation here its really a big help.

How does speculation affect the exchanges?
I think I have! Because speculation is different from investment. Speculative buying, selling and selling of financial assets to profit from price volatility. Should speculation affect the investment of the true home.
