Of course, this is normal that you do stuff like that manually.

The situation is perfectly fine, and indeed there is no need for you to export the private key and re-import it.
You always have the private key of change addresses, and you can spend your bitcoin (no matter it is your normal receiving addresses or change addresses) anytime.

The wallet file contains the private keys for change addresses, and they can receive and send coins normally. However, the GUI in the default client does not display them in the address book.

One day I tried to send some btc from online wallet. Then balance showed too little amount. It was not adding up. So, it is "change" that would make me whole, supposedly. I found that I had a private key to that address and had to import it manually to be able to make me whole. Is this normal that I have to do stuff like that manually?
