to what? I made a link to the executable file but it looks like I can only edit the name.
Just ran it through terminal and it worked (wow I'm stupid) thanks. I guess I can just do it from there.

I assume Ubuntu, so this [1] might help you. Do not use the first answer, use the firefox example. That way you can have several launch options for the same item.

Its the same on Linux as it is on windows..

Just add -datadir=/blah/dir

On windows it is pretty easy to change the blockchain information directory (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Data_directory) but does anyone know how to do it on linux?
