It's possible that we will not see changes for 2000 years, never mind the 200 mentioned here.

Think of technological progress in the ancient world - they had prototypical steam engines and computers and yet the world was otherwise static in technology.    It took us over 3000 years to get to the industrial revolution.

I figure we already have prototypical free energy (or synthetic cheap energy), robotic labour, et al, but it'll take thousands of years to undergo the next technological leap

Maybe when companies figure out how to make these electric cars aforable then maybe some change will come, Right now they are just another luxury rich people enjoy like lambo's and ferrari.

When they get into the 18 - 20k price point then the oil companies should start to worry.

Its great your looking way beyond in the future, and not the present. But, honestly most of us arent going to be around to see that happen. Its great that your direction is towards a hopeful thinking way, which I applaud you for and thats great.

But no one can determine how the future will be, heck we can get another huge astroid barely missing earth etc.

This "change" you see coming isn't going to be coming for another 200 years..at least.
A depressing truth, but we will all work to make it happen for future generations.

Vehicles, cars, are decentralized, identified by VIN's and license plates.  To operate freely they require networks and nodes, roads and cities, with which to travel through, otherwise they would end up in oceans and backyard barbeques. These centralized structures have rules.  They have signs, regulations and are policed to ensure each vehicle behaves properly.

Vehicles like crypto-currencies are also decentralized, identified by hash's and addresses.  To operate freely and proliferate they must travel through networks and exchanges, otherwise you would have to source them through Big Al at the local bowling alley.  The exchanges that operate today, all of them, are sub-standard.  There are no signs, there are illusions and deception, mystery and unaccountability.

Change is coming. Wink
