You have a point up there @OP but still i think they took this too far by banning them outright and also deleting some of their videos. If they think some of them are not credible with the information that they share and also try to scam them then they should rather improve their security mechanisms to track all those accounts down and ban them and not put everybody in the same situation. There are some good youtube education channels out there who help this cryptospace.

Well, first of all, if I'm not mistaken Youtube admitted that they made a wrong call to ban those videos. Secondly, I partially agree with you. There are videos on Youtube that talk about a scam and affect people, making them lose their money. And I think it's okay to ban such videos. But not all videos are like that. Even the same person can sometimes do sponsored videos about ICOs but at other times make videos about the new developments with Bitcoin... So it's hard to find balance between these things and make sure that the system is not getting overly centralized. And to be fair, some of the channels that were affected by the ban always say that they are not giving financial or any other sort of advice...
Indeed, besides it depends on you if you are going to believe and trust those influencers. You can't just blame them and underestimate their capabilities because we can't change the fact that some of them helped ups and guide us through the process of getting a better understanding. Don't just look on the negative side, try to analyse things. It's a good thing that YouTube is doing their part to help us get rid of scammers but somehow the problem is us because we are not being cautious and attentive that is the reason why many of us are falling into scams. We are not thinking before making decision, we are the one to blame.Try to do your responsibility, you can't just depend on others and sometimes it's better to have your own exploration to make sure that everything is good. Let's say that some of them promoted a scam but it can't be the reason why to consider the rest of them as scammer, it is not a basis try to have a more valid reason.

the worst part was that Youtube has turned into the pump and dump channels for altcoins and these bans needed to happen a lot sooner before these newbies could scam other newbies.

since they're wealthy from their crypto trading and investing
i wouldn't be so sure about that. people who rely on altcon pumps and also have no idea how the market works would also lose a lot of money based on their own mistakes. specially those who got cocky during 2017 pumps and though they were experts just because they bought some shitcoin and it got pumped.

yea you're rigt

But they said that some videos about crypto and blockchain that just shows discussion and also give lessons got deleted. So that's unfair for those who just make educational content. Cause if they were really scammers, people who followed them should have already reported it. That's part of youtube's terms and conditions.
Not all crypto account in YouTube are trying to scam people though

Sometimes the algorithms governing removal of youtube accounts are working in a bit strange manner, but anyway - anyone who knowingly promotes scam/Ponzi schemes should take full responsibility for that.

They claim to be social media influencer and their job often times is to promote a project to the youtube community, the people who browse youtube though are converted into crypto users after seeing some tips to get rich but the altcoins they promote turned scam. These social media infliuers are not traders probably have learn few indicators and some trading bot creator and trading platform hired them to promote the business.

But they said that some videos about crypto and blockchain that just shows discussion and also give lessons got deleted. So that's unfair for those who just make educational content. I think we need to be open-minded on whatever decisions that we should make. To be fair to other Crypto Youtubers who promotes awareness about Cryptocurrency and Blockchain Technology, I think we should allow those who have contributed something for this awareness. These platforms were the same as Bitcointalk forum, not all are banned because they say something that we consider as scam. If we really wanted to clean the community. I think we better start here.

It is like I have been hearing the guy with the last crypto channel that I have watched. That is the reality how they give forecast and analysis with the charts and if you dont understand it, you will be amazed the way these influencers talk.

But not all of them are like that, there are channels that are legitimate when it comes to giving their insights about the market. Also, Youtube has already corrected themselves that it was a mistake but I agree that the proven scam channels should be extinguished.

There is little to no actually interesting/informative content if you put it against the ocean full of shitcoin/shill content available. I however think that people should be allowed to make such content as long as it doesn't breach any actual terms, not some made up vague terms no one has a clue about what they actually are.

The problem with the interesting/informative channels is that they are 'boring' to most people. They do not care about Schnorr signatures or any other technical aspects of Bitcoin, they want you to talk about what shitcoin will pump hard, when Bitcoin will moon again, etc. Most channels adapt to that because it yet again comes down to supply and demand.

It's a free market, and I support that even though I'm of believe that people are just getting themselves rekt hard. In the end, losing money helps people to become smarter and avoid outright scams. Doesn't mean they won't fall for scams that conceal their scammy nature better, but at least the lower tier scams will not be what they fall for anymore.

Unfortunately, they are still there. If Google would employ people to really do the monitoring in every video that is uploaded in their site, it is truly beneficial to all of us. However, it seems the blocking is more subjective and random rather than objective. There are still bogus experts in Youtube right now. At the end, it was Google that issued the apologies and put the videos back.

Not your Keys, Not your Bitcoins
90% of the crypto youtubers out there are like you say. And that shouldn't be a surprise. People like this have existed since the stock market was invented. They have results because the majority of the people are like sheeps - they need a leader to follow - a dad who can guide them in the markets, but if it would have been that easy everybody would make millions just by following signals from here and there.

On the positive side some crypto youtubers do provide valuable information about the fundamentals and technicals. You just need to filter out the noise.

I don't agree, not every influential crypto based content creator is disingenuous or just out for the money. A lot of educational and informal content got taken out during the sweep as well. They were sweeping a lot of content just by being guilty of association to cryptocurrency or blockchain. Your absolutely correct though, some of these influencer's don't have the real answers and are here just to monetize off of the scene. These content creators are also practicing freedom of expression. If anything it's the censorship within itself where the fault lies, it's not like it was pornographic material but crypto related themes.

I think it is a bad idea for Google (or anyone else) to protect greedy people from their own stupidity.

why? not everyone is as clever as you. does that mean they deserve to get scammed?

And can you imagine waking up having breakfast and then being like... "OK time to BS people on youtube so I can pay rent". I honestly have much more respect for big fraudsters who actually run pumps and dumps and exit scams and go for tens and hundreds of millions than these losers.

If you watch enough of these boys and girls it becomes obvious they have ZERO idea where crypto price is going and have simply got the art of doubletalk to a science. Let's draw a line here, throw a moving average there, a Fib here - ok, so here we go, the big forecast! Are you ready?

"If it goes up to A then it will PROBABLY keep going up to B. Of course, it might also go down to C and then it POSSIBLY go down to D. Well, there you have it folks, another killer forecast from me! And by the way check out my sponsors who actually pay my bills."

So since these people have no idea and are just talking out of their a** this results in losses to people who listen to them. And of course they also often promote scams which results in more losses to people.

So the average YouTube viewers gets hurt by these channels and some get hurt a lot due to leverage, scams, etc.

So I think Google should stick to their guns and keep these wonderful people BANNED. Plus, if they are banned - it shouldn't be a big deal - since they're wealthy from their crypto trading and investing - missing a few peanuts from sponsors should not be a big deal, right? Wink
