This is maybe an unusual question but I am still wondering if an user can change its username? Maybe with some good reasons? I suppose without it there's no chance. Thank you. 
No. I think only donators and VIPs may ask for username change. To become donator or VIP you have to donate 10 (res. 50) BTC

But I'm pretty sure I have read the VIPs can ask for username change (what else would be VIP status for then? To have a purple coin under my username? For 50 BTC? )

it's impossible dude, you need to make donation amount 50 BTC first to become donator or VIP member.
Maybe you can contact the highest second to satoshi and for all I know its theymos and maybe you contact theymos to ask for a change and I think you should explain a good and reasonabke explaintion why you want to change you username.
