That's not going to happen.  He'll just continue to whine about the cruelty and unfairness of it all, and hopefully eventually he'll give up and go seek a real-life job.  That's what I'm hoping all of these shitposters--who will never receive merit--will do, and the sooner the better.

It actually gives me pleasure to read threads like this, knowing that somewhere, many miles away from me, there is a person pulling his hair out, worrying about how he's going to get enough merits to rank up his shitposting machine.

It makes me smile that it no longer depends on activity, that there is now a quality factor involved which is hard to obtain.  This is the way it should be, and it pleases me.
With the merit system and its mechanism, there is no way to rank up without efforts to make contribution to the forum activities. Of course, there are some ways to get merits (both legally and illegally), but I dont think newcomers of the forum should pay their attention on illegal approach to get merits (I would like to use the word 'approach' instead of 'method' because merits should not be the main focus of users in the forum when joining it).
Getting merits by doing wrong/ negative/ illegal approach will lead users come closer to be banned their accounts sooner or later.

Instead, they should focus on how to contribute to the forum with meaningful topics or threads. At the start, it seems to be hard (and actually hard) for newcomers due to their lacks of knowledge about the cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology, and the way bitcointalk forum operates). But I am sure that over time, they will more familiar with those and can contribute interesting threads if they have right approach.

Newcomers should pay their largest attention on learning when joining the forum. Knowledge will change people's lives, can change destiny, and of course, will change their positions in the forum (positions doesn't equal to ranks. What I would like to imply is their importance in the forum).

This is the result of new merit system. I think merit system should be withdrawn and instead of merit adding system I think demerit system may be introduced which will be given to bad posts. The merit system might be left as it was.
Thank you

No need to withdraw merit system for this. Just punishing that member will be sufficient. Suppose a country passed a law to avoid tax evasions. Some person tries to cheat and make advantage of that law. Will the country take back its law or punish that person ?
Merit is not like tax, forum is not earning anything from merits, imagine a country asking manufacturers to produce high quality products, no need to pay any tax, just high quality products. not stopping the low quality production. what could happen to that country?

Their markets could become saturated with so many low quality products, making it hard for people to find the good products.

But if you charge tax on everybody, you could spend the tax to find any manufacturer producing low quality products and stop them from saturating the market.

Most reputable merit source, sincerely yours. thank you,.

That’s not necessary at all, demerit would be shit concept and people will also take it for granted while marketing about it. If people are having bad thoughts like selling sMERIT then I am pretty sure that people will do the same for demerit system too. That’s the way human mind works if it is foul and greedy.  Roll Eyes

I think sMerit system is perfect in its own way and we don’t need any changes in it. If you are a quality poster then you will receive it from great reviewers if you are not then you deserve to be locked out at whatever rank you are.

Jesus Christ on a motor bike. You freaked me out with these exclamation marks.

I do not think the demerit system will work though because many people will use it out of wickedness as many accounts will get demoted which will probably create a bad atmosphere to this forum. People will demerit other people only for fun. Let's not forget about the other people who really will demerit a post based on its bad quality. Added to that, the merit system has just been born. Let's see how it goes within the upcoming months and then we judge it.

Ps: You remind me of Garen from League of Legends when he shouts "Charge!!!!!!!!!"

If I had Merit, I would give you some just for that post lol. It had me dying.  Grin

As a newbie, it just gives me more motivation to work on quality posts. I'm indeed in no rush to up my rank and if I never make it to Legendary, then so be it. As long as I'm able to continue to read and learn new things from other experienced members, then I'm content with that. My bills are covered either way..  Grin

I'm guessing most people that complaining want to rank fast intends on profiting with the Signature Campaigns without any effort.  Roll Eyes

You want a demerit system to be able to downvote all those people who already have merit, right? Stir the pot a little bit, tip the scales. Grin
And you'd like everyone, including new accounts to be able to downvote posts and subtract merits, am I right? Next thing we'd have an army of socks ganking up on people to demerit them. That would be something, power to the people!
Now, we could have a demerit system that would allow people to spend their merit to upvote or downvote in the way that your point could be turned into a negative point and subtract a point from another person's pool. That would be much better, but still allow people to gank up on others. With the current merit system you still can rank up. You just need to make some good posts, but if demerit was active and you had some enemies on the forum, they'd be able to stop you from ranking up or at least slow you down by a couple months.
The system was made as something positive. It allows you to appreciate posts of other people, encourage them. Negative merit would result in merit wars, people grouping up against each other, demeriting opinions they don't agree with. This is what's taking place on reddit. People there are downvoting posts they don't like even if they are on topic and adding value to the discussion. I wouldn't like to see it happening here.

This merit system is the ideal thing this forum needed. It will continue to sanitize the forum. Leaving only the serious minds.

Thank you for introducing the merit system.

As you can see that member already got what they deserve, and that is negative trust.
So instead of whining how Merit system is bad, maybe you should pay more attention on making good posts so you could get Merits.
And next time when you see someone breaking the rules, just report them to moderators.

I have some accounts which has a combined source of 1000+ sMerit. I want to offer them against good posts on BitcoinTalk. If you are interested in reviewing your posts, PM me the links to those. As reviewing takes time, I may charge a small amount in BTC/BCH/ETH/ETC. Please note that, only good and substantial posts will earn merit and no bulk merit transfer will take place. Feel free to ask any question that you may have...
