Not all precious metal coins have hallmarks. Coinographic was the only one that did that iirc.

an exeption for physicals cryptos then ? or maybe country related ? ( in France all silver or gold pieces , even table ones , have one ... )

would be interesting to ask ognasty about his 4 oz pure gold, if he should have one or not..)

anyway , probably country differences, .. )

http://www.silvercollection.it/poinconsfrancais.html

Find me a French gold or silver coin which has the punch and post a picture, it will be interesting to see.

I think it doesn't apply to coins in general: physical cryptos or other regular collectors or sovereign coins.

yeah ..  i have official ( legal ) explaination now:
this it is not an obligation under 3 grams for gold, and  for silver : under 30g.

here's the gold punchs:

24k ( 999 fine gold ) is not listed here , but it's indeed the highest level of purety, and the punch is an eagle head too..

or it could be the foundery punch too in this case.. (punch = poinçon, in french )

Nearly all coins are 1 troy Oz, which is 31.1034768 grams. The website you posted doesn't mention coins either.

Quote
antique silver, sterling silver, silverplate, sheffield plate, electroplate silver, silverware, flatware, tea services and tea complements, marks and hallmarks, articles, books, auction catalogs, famous silversmiths (Tiffany, Gorham, Jensen, Elkington, WMF, Reed & Barton, Mappin & Webb, Bateman Family), history, oddities.

By stamping the coins (by hand) you risk to damage it and take away the mint condition. I checked some of my .999 silver Lunar Series coins (made by the Perth Mint) and they don't have stamps either. I seriously doubt you will find them on any coin, unless it's just a blank round made for storing your precious metals.

I just checked:

- 0.1 BTC Casascius
- Casascius Super Bowl
- 0.05 BTC Microsoul (normal + gold plated)
- Cold Hard Cash bitcoin (2014 model)

None of them have an additional marking. I even checked a few coins producted by the Royal Dutch Mint and they don't have any additional markings either. I'll check the rest of my silver coins later but I doubt any of them will have a marking. I know jewelry and gold/silver bars have them but I've never seen it on a coin before.

False : pure silver , or pure gold ALWAYS have a punch. ( ask to ognasty ) ( an eagle for gold , dont remember what is for silver....)
I've got a 2oz minted seat by OgN right here in my hands (they are .999 fine silver), it's got no "punch" whatsoever on it, as far as I can tell.
it should be ...  look another exemple : ( precious metal as silver or gold must have it...)

yeah i well understood that's the "error", but anyway as all pure silver coins, you should logicaly have a "silver punch" , wich is well know in precious metals industry.

ie: for gold, you have an eagle punch ..
silver should have a punch somewhere on the coin , ( as all 999 fine silver should have )

ie: ask to ognasty if his 999 pure gold coins dont have any eagle punch..

I don't think I've seen a physical bitcoin with an extra marking to show if it's silver or gold. Most coins say '.999 Fine Silver' (or something similar).

then, that's a pure silver coin , but with no relative mention of this, right ?
( no  silver punch anywhere on the coin too ?)  Roll Eyes

No, that is the engraving error. It should say "Commiserative .999 Fine Silver", like in this image:

Instead it says "Commiserative Anniversary Edition". You can tell it's a silver coin by looking at the engraving.

Here is a picture of the pure silver coin (left) and the plated coin (right):

- Goxxed For The Last Time! Commiserative Anniversary Edition (.999 fine silver #51) Engraving error

TNAnon asked me to chime in here- this is indeed the only silver coin with this engraving error, the only silver coin out of the 51 I've had made with an engraving error at all.

Good luck bidding all!

I don't know if it is just the pics but the coin on the far right does seem to have a much better engraving, very easy to read, why is that?

Great to see a charity auction for the health industry being run, i work for a medical vaccine company and we are currently trying to keep funding going for disadvantaged children to receive the vaccines they need and it's a nightmare to keep a charity running on just donations while still trying to run a business.

Good luck with your auction, not matter what is received the funds given will make a difference.

The coins are laser-engraved. The other coins are all made from brass (or a similar metal). They are silver plated but through the engraving you can see the actual color of the coin (being a bit goldish). The coin on the right is made from .999 silver so the engraving will still show a silver color.

Sounds like you're working for a great cause as well. Vaccines are really important, especially for kids. Too bad not all governments pay for things like that Sad.

It is possible to shop that in my country? Im from asia. How long it will deliver to me. Pm me if it is possible before i bid here OP. Im always interested in coins. Thanks

Already PMed you but it's no problem shipping these coins to Asia. I've sent many coins to Asia before and I've had 0 issues so far. It should take a week or so for them to arrive.
