I'm trying to come up with the cheapest components except for the GPU and PSU. I looked at Sempron setup but to cut down on shipping charges, I decide to buy as much from Microcenter. I tried going for new parts but I think I might save some money if I go with older generation parts.

Intel 3.2GHz Pentium 4 Hyper       19.67
CM X Dream 4 CPU Cooler        9.99
DG41TY LGA 775                       35.99
Micro Center 1GB DDR2-800       14.99
TC102 Case                               37.99
Corsair CX Series CX500M 500    64.99
Gigabyte GV-R779OC-1GD        329.99
Total                                    513.61 (or if using an old case I have, $475.61)

I learned I can make do with PCIe x16 only using risers so that's why I thought about this mobo/chip. RAM is probably not critical. I will be running a linux OS, off either a flash drive or a cheap HDD. Might have to go with HDD, not sure if this mobo can use large flash drives like 16gb. Any idea about that?

My original build was:

ASRock H61M-DGS 1155 mATX Intel Motherboard         44.99
Intel Celeron G550 2.6GHz LGA 1155 Boxed Processor         32.99
Fractal Design Core 1000 Mini                                  39.99
Micro Center 4GB DDR3-1333                                          26.99
Corsair CX Series CX500M 500                                  64.99
PowerColor AX7850 1GB                                             169.99
Total                                                                      379.94 (or if using an old case I have, $339.95)

So, if I go with this P4 build, I can stick in that 7790 but I don't think I can do it if I go with the Celeron build.

Point out any flaws about going for the P4 build. Is there any way to make it work? Otherwise, how do I change the Celeron build to get some more Mhash/s out of it? I don't want to go over $500 at the moment. I'm cutting it very close to the limit. I didn't account for taxes but might be an additional $20. Thanks
