I was wondering what is the best rate for purchasing bitcoin on exchanges?
"with the best overal rate (fees and so called chosen market price)"

I like to know before I sign up and give some all the KYC stuff, and find out they suck, and have to do it all over again with another exchange.

Coinbase raised their fee.   1.5% Bank Deposite  3.99% Credit Card/PP
and another flat fee (makes dollar cost averaging - small amounts daily not worth it)

Other exchanges -

Gemini   Maybe the cheapest bitcoin?  no fees?
Kraken  ?
Simple-BTC.com (Great no hassle 1 percent, and no other fee) (however Maybe a SCAM, since they want paypal friends & family)

Any others?

Thanks All

Did you see that ludicrous display last night?
The thing about Coinbase is that it's trying to be an extremely user friendly platform, and with that almost always comes high fees.  I say this because they encourage holding your funds in the exchange account ("Coinbase wallet") and because there is no spread on Coinbase between the buy and sell prices.

If you want a normal exchange, you could try Coinbase's dedicated exchange GDAX, which is like Coinbase but for ordinary traders (fees of 0.25% with a spread between buy and sell prices).

When trading with BTC, if you're looking for the cheapest price you might subject yourself to risky exchanges, and in BTC pretty much all exchanges are risky.  The risk of an exchange messing up might outweigh the slightly lower price you get.

So you should just look for exchanges which you consider to be the most trustworthy, which I would argue includes Gemini, Bitstamp and GDAX.
