The mistake easy to make might be in making a false economy, only you can really judge all of this correctly in proportion.    Most wont use a mixer, you have to balance your personal requirement for the mixer against quality and reliability of its service rendered vs cost.  Obviously the biggest lesson for BTC and why its still the biggest blockchain is security is the real deciding factor for value ultimately, theres always cheaper options for sure.   I have the same theory for FIAT and how eventually just like crypto the largest value is decided by long term security or its failure  in the macro economic picture, imo thats a bigger game we're all players in.

This isn't a cheap solution as the minimum fee to mix is 0.7%.
Sorry, I am looking for a cheaper solution.
^ If a 0.7% fee is not the amount that you desire then try your luck at a gambling casino that has a built-in exchange inside that you can swap your BTC into altcoins, deposit your funds and meet the wager requirements for withdrawal, and swap into altcoins. It is not probably advisable but it surely works as long as you read the TOS. Otherwise, as they said above, instant exchange has a huge fee.

I don't recommend casinos as a means to mix the coins If OP is not a gambler he will end up losing the coin that he wants to mix, it is not recommended and will not work, Casinos are centralized they have all the records so it is still traceable, there is no other way but to use a mixer, Sinbad has the lowest fee and they have a good reputation in the community

Sinbad has a low fee, from a minimum of 0.5% up to 2.5%. You decide for yourself what percentage you will leave.
https://sinbad.io/en

You have to prefer reputation over price.

Confused about which option is best and cost effective?

I would suggest Jam as the best and cost effective option for you. Jam is the front-end to JoinMarket and fee there (which depends on order book and market condition) may be unbelievable low. Look at live order book   to get feelings on how low it may be. Nevertheless the less fee  the longer to wait, as market makers always waiting  for higher fee to provide their liquidity. I would advocate for 0.03% to balance cost and waiting time

If you think 0.7% isn't a cheap option then you will struggle to get any mixer that offers lower than that fee. I know that there might be some mixers that may offer you lower than that fee but I would recommend you to be careful from those mixers unless they already have been online for a good amount of time. The best mixers have their signature campaigns on this forum and I recommend you to go with any of those mixers that are currently promoting their platform on this forum.

I would recommend you to go with Mixero as recommended by @Charles-Tim or go with Sinbad as recommended by examplens because both of those are trusted mixers and they have been active on this forum for a long time now. You'll get best quality service with both of those mixers because they have been on market for a long time and they can be trusted without any issues.

I used Shift.ai   and  fixedfloat.com/ for maximum 100$ some weeks ago  and I recieved instantly but i will not recommend it for you as it poses risk.

OP is looking for a cheap solution and i don't think that instant exchanges are cheap to swap the coins. In fact, most of them offer the most expensive swaps. And they are all centralized, meaning that even if OP manage to find a cheap swap exchange, they may not send the coin back and scam.

By the way, all solutions come with a price and we need to understand that we need to pay in order to get a service. If there is no price, still we are the product ourselves.

You can't have the best and cheapest option in the same package.  Roll Eyes
You also didn't say what coins you want to mix exactly since you mentioned XMR coin and different centralized swap exchanges that have nothing to do with mixing.

p.s. Always check the service thoroughly before use, whether it is functional or has any problems in operation.

I'm unsure if you will find something better than 0.5 or 0.7. I hope you don't expect to get compensation for mixing coins with someone  Wink
Now seriously, there were mixers without a fee, but they were mostly short-term actions in the form of some kind of promotion. I think you will spend more time searching than you will save on the fee.
Also, by using exchanges, you should pay attention to the current exchange rate, because there you can lose more than that 0.5%.

If the fee of 0.7% is too expensive for you, you are actually looking for something that would fall into the "no fee" category, but I believe that every service has a price, especially if it is something that will provide you with a high level of privacy. I personally consider 1-2% of the fee to be more than a fair price, although I understand that if it is about larger amounts, everyone would like to pay as little as possible - I hope you will find something that will satisfy you.

If he truly needs privacy and wants to use bitcoin converted to monero and back to monero, another suggestion is the use of https://bisq.network/.

Bisq makes use of Tor for connection.

I guess Joinmarket if you're really consider fee is your priority than achieving the best choice to get the maximum anonymity.
He should know that if he wants to make use of Jointmarket, he needs a full client for it. Jointmarket is making use of coinjoin.

Instant exchanges always charge higher fee, it higher than use centralized mixer where the fees are less than 5%. Moreover they don't have onion address, so it's not really a best choice since they can still track your IP address.

You can go through the content on this link and look at the fee of every mixer listed there: 2023 List Bitcoin Mixers Bitcoin Tumblers Websites

Edit:
About Mixero, I am not referring to the coinjoin, I am referring to 'advanced' mixing. The fee is 1.9% of the coin that you want to mix.

You can try and use Mixero advance mixing

Clearnet: https://[banned mixer]/
Onion link: http://[banned mixer]/

or use sites like https://sideshift.ai/ or https://changenow.io/ to convert to XMR
I will not advice you to use any instant exchange because they are centralized.

Mixers, Wasabi wallet, decentralized exchanges like Bisq to convert to XMR and or use sites like https://sideshift.ai/ or https://changenow.io/ to convert to XMR and then move to bitcoin address through XMR wallet  Huh
