hee-ho.
I mean we don't need this whole "check your IP and throw a localized rules" thing. half of the people here doesn't even use their actual IP.

I prefer Zakir over Muhammed when mentioning me!
that's a little too much trouble for assisting newbies, don't you think? Advising them to read legal and rules threads should be enough. no need for the IP check or anything.

Without checking IP, how can we know the country? When a user logs in, it is certain that their IP will be in log. So I don't see any difference when a bot checks it and show them sub-board.

NB: This may not work if they are using VPN and may lead them to a different board than they should be.

I think that it can be useful that the forum can advice sections/sub-sections/threads to newbies/guests just after the registration, by checking their IP.

Example:
=snip=
- If the IP comes from a country where Bitcoin has been declared ILLEGAL, than the forum will advise the user to look at a thread with all the legal informations about this problem.

These advices should be NOT annoying obviously.

+1. However, I suppose that Local boards should be the one most useful to post BTC-specific legal advisories to users since local members are probably the best informed about their own country applicable laws. Main board could be used for English language countries, however.

Example: if the IP comes from France, than it will suggest to give a look at the French sub-section.
- if the IP comes from Italy ...
- if the IP comes from Germany ...
- If the IP comes from a country where Bitcoin has been declared ILLEGAL, than the forum will advise the user to look at a thread with all the legal informations about this problem.
