Ledger Live shows the total holdings you have including bitcoin and altcoins that you have stored there. Does your Nano S only contain bitcoin? if there are some other altcoins that have value then it would sum up to the current bitcoin you have and that's why it's not tallying with the balance you're viewing on the network through blockcypher.

I have also noticed that the total balance doesn't show the exact amount when it's still loading up some of the assets that you have until it finally shows up the value of the balance you have for other cryptos. But this is only if you have other cryptos.

And if it's only bitcoin that you have, as you can see below at the "latest operations" it is displaying the amount of bitcoin in USD on the left side during the time you've received/sent it and it won't change even if the price is entirely different in the current time.

As said, Ledger uses many different addresses and thus the disparity lies primary with the fact that your funds are split between each address that you use. Ledger also sends funds into your Change addresses which are never shown as your receiving address.

You can export the master public key [1] and use it to search for the funds in the addresses generated with the corresponding seed. I wouldn't recommend doing this as the blockexplorers can know the group of addresses that are linked together, with the IP and the browser fingerprint being leaked.

Using a Ledger with an Electrum wallet should be sufficient to identify addresses that contains the funds and use it to search on the blockexplorers.

Clicking "receive" button from your Ledger Live creates a new bitcoin address that is perhaps empty because Ledger Live has a function to automatically change the "used" address from your previous transaction to achieve an optimum privacy.

More info here: https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034336713-Receiving-address-changed

What you can do is to double click one of your bitcoin account and look for your previous transaction history labelled as "Latest Operations" Click of one them for you to see your receiving address found at the bottom and then copy and paste to your favorite explorer. Or you can just click the "View in explorer" to instantly redirect you the a blockchain explorer.

Hi, I am a bitcoin novice.  I use Ledger Nano S with Ledger Live.  I want to check my Nano S BTC balance on blockchain.

So, I open Ledger Live and open the BTC account then click on "receive."  Then, it generates a recipient address for my Nano S.  I copy the address then go to live.blockcypher.com then plug in the address.

The balance showing there does not at all match my balance showing in my Ledger Live.  What am I doing wrong here?

I cleared cache in my Ledger Live multiple times.
