yes i am calculating the cost to invest in a new effective chia mining rig, but currently the new chia mining is in the early stages and there are still many problems, so i am still waiting for the opportunity in the near future .

Same, hope there would be farming pools in the future.

Imagine farming with a non-industrial grade hard disk and it dies after getting some Chia.

So my personal conspiracy theory about chia.  It's nothing but offloading storage space for state surveillance systems!   /Tinfoil off

go to https://chiacalculator.com/ and click advanced. Uncheck "unlimited" for space of plots. Put in how big hard drive you will buy. Then you will see it is pretty bad return lol. But if you got space laying around or find supergood deal then sure, try it

Keep in mind when looking for drives to plot on that buying new will probably not pay off.
There are a ton of older / slower drives out there on Craigslist / eBay / local places that are 1/2 the size but 1/4 the cost of new drives.
You just have to pay attention and do a bit of searching for what you need want.

I tried for fun.I followed a Youtube video of Imineblocks and setup everything as he said.I tried with a Western Digital Purple 4 TB which I took out from a NVR-Network Video Recorder and started plotting. It was extremely slow and when I locked the screen of my PC,if I let it locked for more than an hour I could not get back in without forcing a shutdown with the power button.I think it will be better when the pool will come alive as there are talks it may come online soon.Solo mining it is just plain luck and you need to have at least 360 TB to be able to try your luck once every 12 days right now with actual difficulty seen in Chia calculator website.

You will still have to replot on the pool is ready so make sure you adjust your PC power settings to avoid sleeping this will stop your plotting and you will have to restart all over again

I knew someone who built 260TB chia mining rig and he already won 4 Chia coins but the chances are too slim if you are going with very low amount of terabytes, I'm following chia Reddit channel everyday so that I won't miss out, hopefully pools will bring better results
If there are results and profit rates please let me know, I think this is a very potential project!!

I have interest in chia coin but presently there is no pool that works nicely so I can see it's daily earnings, Im not ready to do solo mining for weeks without getting any reward, you can buy your rigs and HDD and wait for pools I'm sure it's coming
i'm also looking to buy gear but don't have big pools yet so joining solo doesn't seem to yield good results right? Cry Cry Cry
Yes that's correct, there is no point rushing to buy HDD and power server when we don't even know how official pools will operate and how it's result will be, all you can do is fold arms and wait it out, let's see how pools will perform before taking the jump

I do, my advice is don't build any rig for chia right now, many people have turned off their chia farm because the difficulty have rise a lot so it's more harder to solve a block through solo mining, wait till a genuine pool is out and see how that goes before joining the train, have a nice day
Yes, thank you, I just learned about this mining and saw a very potential coin, but I don't know how it works so I don't dare to invest in a machine to mine it.

Pool mining is come in a couple of days and on hpool you can use poolmining right now. But use another payout address, because hpool ask after you passphrase.
